Just because he lost doesn't mean he jobbed. Why does everyone over use these terms. A "mark" used to be someone who bought into the advertising of a "face" superstar. And job is when you lose a match without puting up much of an effort. |

How can you still think that certain words can only have one meaning? |

I don't. "Mark" has alot of meanings. It can be someone's name. A spot. But through a word behind it and suddenly it's a bad way to describe someone of being a fan of something. I don't think so. It was a term to describe someone who cheers for the faces, and then it got over used. |

In wrestling terms, a mark can mean lots of thing. A mark can mean someone that still watches shows through kayfabe eyes. It can mean someone that cheers devotedly for one performer. (I'm an Austin mark and an Angle mark). It can mean someone that cheers for a certain type of match (hardcore mark). It can mean a lot of things and it doesn't necessarily have a negative meaning. The same can be said for the word "job". It means losing. When someone jobs, it means they lost, not lost without defense. A loss without defense is a squash. |

Yep, since you saw one definition on one wrestling site, then that is the only thing that one word can mean, eh?

But that's what it means. You people just made all the other crap up. Your not an Ausitn mark. Your an Austin fan. You cant mark out. You cheer. Taking to word mark and killing it is what you people have done. SHAME! |

Yep, we here at 6SW are responsible for integrating the work "mark" into different levels of meaning. It is all our fault. The fact that everyone else online uses the word the exact same way only shows how powerful 6SW. ![]() Like it or not, the term "mark" has different definitions depending on how it is used. No amount of anyone crying "you are using it wrong" is going to change that. |

Are you kidding? "Marking out" is a real term! Marking out is when you percieve the action as real, and you cheer as if you were a mark. Why do you think they're are still so many fans of Hogan around? |

Wow, just ignore things when they are right in front of your face, eh? I think I'm going to officially rename the smilie to :15shows:, because it suits you so well. No matter how much people show you to contradict you, you always throw your fingers in your ears and ignore it all. That's funny.

From OWW: Job/doing a job/put over: Terms used to describe losing a wrestling match. When someone is booked to lose a match they are said to being "doing the job" or "putting over" their opponent.

Tsk, tsk, Purps. You just proved that the word used to have meaning but now had devolved into nothing. Kind of like how the word "douche" used to only refer to a female hygiene device, but now can mean other things depending on how it is used. It's things like this that is causing a breakdown in modern society! So many words meaning so many things! When will it all come to an end? Oh, god, when!? |

Just for the sake of throwing it out there, I tried to change the name of this thread to "Counting down the days until the ignore feature is installed", but it wouldn't fit. So I went with the current title.

Why do you think everything I say somehow relates to you? I hate to burst your bubble, but the ignore idea came about because I was reading over the list of features that will be added to 6SW once we upgrade from Invisionfree to Zetaboards. The ignore feature will be one of the 300+ upgrades, so I wanted to incorporate that into the title. It wouldn't fit, so I went with a snazzy phrase to describe a spam thread, which is also no way related to you. |
