Neb has heard of ketchup, he was merely using sarcastic and blonde dialogue to put forth his ideas about the absurdity of calling it ketchup.

Family Guy>American Dad for the win people.

Just stopping in this thread to say I have broken my foot again. I dropped a brick on it yesturday when I was helping my uncle build a BBQ shelter so that the wind doesn't spread the flames.

What's the Simpson movie gonna be about Neb?

Supposedly, Homer does something bad to the town that causes them all to backlash against him or something like that. I've seen the animatics, and that does seem probable.

Usually after movies they end up canceling the series. I hope the Simpsons gain back their popularity after the movie and beat Family Guy.

Not really. I mean, what shows were cancelled after the movie? The X-Files comes to mind, but the movie came halfway through the series nine year run, so it hardly counts.

I too hope that it can beat Family Guy. Wait...it out-rates it every week, it receives far more critical acclaim for its new episodes, its DVD sales are through the roof compared to Family Guy and there's a movie coming out for The Simpsons that won't be going straight to DVD. How is The Simpsons not already beating Family Guy yet? :P

Last time you said this, you personally admitted that you couldn't back it up or something like that. Please, if you're going to say something at least have evidence for it. Seeing as you don't...

Old Simpsons Episodes > New Simpsons Episodes

Why?

Because the new jokes are stale and seem like a half-assed job. Plus in many of the new episodes they talk more about Jesus and make fun of religion... which REALLY makes me want to change the channel.

Old Simpsons Episodes > Old Family Guy Episodes > New Simpsons Episodes > New Family Guy Episodes

Well that was then, and this is now. Let's take a look at a recent episode of The Simpsons: Ice Cream of Margie

When I watched this I was in awe, becasue it's the same damn plot that happens every 3 episodes! Homer does something stupid and Marge is angry with him. In the end they stay together while barely intentertaining me between the beginning and end. At least Family Guy has characters that develop. Stewie and Chris has grown more than Bart or Maggie ever WILL.

Yeah, I didn't really like that episode either. That one episode.

Oh please. Yes, this is a valid critisism if the entire episode is taken up by these sorts of plot, but in this case it wasn't. The bulk of the episode was devoted to Homer's ice cream plot, which wasn't exactly brilliant, but it still provided 15 minutes of the entertainment in a 20 minute episode. Get what I'm saying?

Anyone who critisises The Simpsons for lack of character development is sure as hell looking for reasons to attempt to tear it to pieces, especially when they even bother to mention a baby...WHO CAN'T TALK! Bart? He's grown. A recent episode, The Haw-Hawed couple showed Bart befriending Nelson, and he showed a lot more life like characteristics and depth than any Family Guy episode will ever do. He evaluated both sides of his situation, he make decisions based on these things, he hid things from Nelson to keep him at bay, he showed ambiguity and just all around acted much more like a human in a real situation than any Family Guy character will. What, Chris? What does he do that's better than that? Stewie? It's the same fucking joke every time. Jesus Christ.

A baby who in many, many years is supposed to grow up, unless you count each and every Simpson episode happening the next day after the other aired. But with the celebrities that appeared on the show, the growing up phase was supposed to happen.

Point 1: The Simpsons was never intended to have any chronology behind it. It was intended to always be in a "timeless" phase, rather being being some kind of melodramatic soap opera with hokey character arcs and whatever from year to year. This has all been said by previous producers and such.

Point 2: Who gives a shit?

He he, I know, but I had to put my 2 cents in even if it did'nt belong.

I just did explain it. But really, as I said before, when you're using Maggie as a way to critisise The Simpsons, you're scrounging around on the floor picking up whatever shit you can throw at it and just hope that it sticks.

I'm not just implying Maggie, Bart and Lisa and every kid in the Simpsons show are subject to that kind of criticise.

But...I just said that the point of the show was never to actually grow up. To do so would take away from the timeless quality of the show, which was one of the whole points of using animation in the first place.
