That's one damned odd schedule. The same class, twice in one day? Weird. I don't get to register for Fall until next week. |

Yes, Fridays will become my new favourite day. As for having the same class multiple times in the way day, I'm not sure if you're familiar with the Australian (based on the British) uni system, so... Lectures are where you sit in a giant theatre (around 500 at max) and listen to a knowledgable person talk. They split these up into fragments so you don't have to sit through a 3 hour lecture. In doing this, it increases the audience attention. Unfortunately, it looks like the School of Education hasn't quite caught onto that idea yet A tutorial is where a small group of people (about 20) from the lectures get together to talk about what they learned, and ask questions and crap. A laboratory is where you apply what you learn in tutorials and lectures to the field. In chemistry, you'd use a technique you learned to make something. In biology, you might dissect a rat to investigate something you learned in a lecture. So yeah, hopefully that explains why things look so retarded. |

6 years of college? What did you do? And seeing as we're talking about me, what sounds better? Pharmacology or Biological Anatomical Anthropology I'm leaning towards the latter. |

I'm pretty sure I know what a lectures and labs are.
Ours (University of Florida, U.S.A.) is set up differently. I can't register until next week, but I can make a very close guess; it can work out one of two ways: Schedule 1: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 8:00A-8:50A : MAP2302 (Elementary Differential Equations) 10:00A-10:50A : ENC2210 (Technical Writing) 1:00P-1:50P : EGM2511 (Engineering Mechanics - Statics) 2:00P-2:50P : EMA3010 (Materials) OR, Schedule 2: Tuesday and Thursday: 8:00A-9:15A : MAP2302 10:30A-11:45A : ENC2210 1:00P-2:15P : EGM2511 2:30P-3:45P : EMA3010 Each of my upcoming courses are 3-credit-hour courses (which is just their fancy way of saying, "three hours per week"; and it doesn't even add up to a whole three hours!). Here, you can either take them in three 1-hour installments, or two 1:15 installments. I'm taking Schedule 2, if my classes are available in those timeframes (which they probably will be). As you can see, your setup is far different from mine; that's why I thought your schedule was so strange. As for choosing your major: Go with whatever you feel is most FUN; the most lucrative career path may be tempting, but actually enjoying your career, rather than just collecting pay, is like being on vacation for the rest of your life; far more rewarding, in my opinion. With either one of YOUR two choices, though, money will take care of itself. Whichever you choose, good luck, Neb. |

Yeah, I guess that is important seeing as they both lead into the same career (most probably) - which is teaching. The latter does look like more fun, what with its higher base in medicine rather than chemistry. What exactly is it your doing at uni? |

Aerospace Engineering major. Not what some would think; I'm not going to be inventing Star Trek gadgets. Although it has "engineer" in the name, earners of this degree usually wind up doing structural and electrical maintenance/repair on aircraft, rather than design. |

The Man. Any Questions?
|
Not-so-funny story: A few months ago, a retired professor and a student from OUR (UF) Department of Engineering went out to Gainesville Regional Airport to test a new auto-pilot system that the student (while being advised by the retired professor) had designed and built. Their plane crashed. Into the TERMINAL, not the tarmac, no less! A tragedy, but it does NOT build my faith in the education I'm receiving. The first thing I thought when I heard about it was, "damn, I already KNOW how to CRASH! I want to learn how NOT to!". It was just one, isolated incident; could have happened to anyone, anywhere.... But still.... |

I've seen you logged on, from time to time. Welcome back. Your Anti-Virus was screwing you? Why didn't you just remove the program (and install a more "friendly" Anti-Virus)? |
