I've never played the TEW games. I've been purely an EWR guy.

I suck with tag team names but I just came up with one I kind of like. I have Trent Baretta and Brett DiBiase teaming up on the bottom of the card after a random pairing for a one time squash tag team wound up revealing that DiBiase and Baretta actually make a very good team. So after scanning both of their Wikipedia profiles trying to think of a name, I came up with: Golden Guns.

They're so going to be my Beer Money.
Oh. What. The. FUCK?!

All of the relationships in my game have disappeared. They exist outside of my save, but inside my game? Every single person has "no relations found". Son of a god damn bitch.

That's probably going to end up stopping me from doing what I planned on doing, and that's keep this one game going on for as long as I can. Usually I crap out after a few days then I start a new one when I feel like playing again. I was going to try to build up some history and always come back to the same one, whether I wanted to or not.

Now that's probably out of the window...

I think it may just be my data. I think it got corrupted somewhere because the last time I played and really got into it, it wound up glitching up at one point and would error and close out every time I tried going to the next day. It really sucks when you've worked so hard and are actually happy with what you've done then it's all gone. I imagine it's somewhat what a WoW player feels when they lose their character saves.

That just basically zapped all my enthusiasm away. I don't know if I want to continue now since, while no relationships isn't a game breaking glitch, it will definitely take a lot away from the experience. :(
Oh, thank Satan. The relationships are back. But now I'm going to be very paranoid about what's going to glitch next. :uhoh:
And it just glitched the same way it did the last time I got into the game.

Getting an error that says "File Already Exists", then it shut downs. Upon restart, the whole screen is screwed up and I can't continue.

Damn it. Damn it. Damn it. That's so disappointing. That was easily the most in-depth I've ever gone into the game. I don't know what to do now but I'm forced to abandon this one... :(

That's some of the worst luck ever Kraul

I have spent ages on these games before although I think I prefer EWR to TEW '05. Building up the storylines in TEW is just an annoyance in that you have select the exact right angle to progress the story forward while in EWR you had the freedom to build up the heat to a match anyway you wanted.

Has anyone ever started their own promotion at backyard level and then tried to elevate it all the way to the top?

I have once or twice but I always lost interest almost right away. I was going to start a game like that a few days ago but after the first day or two, I just quit.

I still want to do what I planned on doing with ECW, and that's have one game that I force myself to come back to so I can have some long history, but after the last two games I've gotten huge into have both glitched and broke after half a year, I just don't know. What really sucks is that they're both the most I've ever gotten into the game, too.

If I start again (I have a totally new copy of EWR now so hopefully no glitch), I don't know what I want to do. I just did ECW... the last time I got into it big time I did TNA... I've done my own fed to death (at different levels)... I don't like WWE...

Maybe I'll start a game with a WCW revival at national level? That could be fun.

The Man. Any Questions?
I tried that TAW game, and gave up. Couldn't figure out what in hell I was supposed to be doing, or how to do it. It was like trying to play SimCity without knowing what the icons do.

I finally figured out how to start my game, with a small fed. Couldn't do house shows because I didn't have enough contracted wrestlers, and no wrestler would sign a contract. I ended up just saying, "well, fuck this".

I recently downloaded the updated rosters and then I had to go in a fix things I considered wrong with it (like people only being Non-Wrestlers or Some ratings too high or too low etc.) But I have not started a new game. I have tried backyard promotions before. I can get them going, but every time I start making stars, they leave and I have to hire some new scrub to start again with. Gets frustrating. Then someone usually offers me a new job and I bail.

Since I almost always play as a fed that starts in the regional/cult area, I am very familiar with that scenario.

I'll spend so much energy trying to make a big star for my company, someone that will be able to lead the frontline charge into the future... then they become so good that being a cult promotion that's breaking into a national level or a newly established national promotion isn't good enough for them anymore. Bah.

I remember I was doing a SHIMMER game and that happened with Cheerleader Melissa, who became the number one girl in my fed. So we went our separate ways. Luckily, a few in-game months later, I was able to get her back and sign her to a contract. While other girls with open contracts that wouldn't sign would leave later on, she wasn't going anywhere this time.
Was this moved or was it already in The Thunderdome? Can a mod (if one is reading this) move this to the entertainment folder for me?

So, I have been playing this game again and I started out with a small promotion. I did this because when I start a game, my objective is always to break away and from my own company. However, you can not do this until you have played 2 yrs worth of game time and are also working for a Global promotion. If you start out with a big company like TNA or WWE you have to book multiple shows and PPVs. Starting out with a company small enough to not have a TV show lets you book basically one big event a month and you can move rather quickly through the game time. The 2 main problems you face are:

1. Your talent always gets stolen by larger promotions when you are creating stars. Almost everyone that I put my World title on gets stolen. It has been vacated 5 times in one year due to this.

2. At some point you have to get a job with a global promotion. To do this, I think you basically have to jump from job to job by building up the promotion you are with. Then you get offers from a larger promotion. Build and repeat. Sometimes you have to wait a long time between job offers.

Right now I am 13 months in and the only offer I had was early in the game and the move was lateral. Hopefully, during this 2nd year, I'll start getting more opportunities to move up. I've taken my Small company with a Public Image of 52% to a Regional Promotion at 15%. I'm just afraid I am going to have to get to a cult level before I get a real job offer.

Anyone still playing this?

Well, after trying to figure out how to get into the EWBattleground forum (the official board for EWR that contains all the updates and other related stuff), I came to the conclusion that the board is down.

If you go to the website, it takes you to a sign in page. That's not unusual because the board has always been one of those "you have to be a member to read our content" types of boards. What is unusual is that they're not accepting newly registered members, apparently, what by rejecting emails. They seem to have blocked signing in, too, since my old account I registered years ago that still apparently exists (when attempting to use the name as new register, it says it's already taken) but it absolutely refuses to sign in.

So, I'm assuming that the board is down.

Apparently they took a massive blow and lost a lot of their game related stuff when MegaUpload was killed, so that might be a factor.

However, I'm making this bump because I found the new place to get the necessary updates to play an up-to-date version of EWR on this EWR Tumblr. It doesn't have much right now, but it's better than nothing.

I'm also posting this so I can look up the links should I lose the bookmark and have to hunt down the place to find EWR stuff. I've already used this thread multiple times in the past for that very reason. In fact, it's the only way I could find the official board in the first place today before being disappointed by it's apparent down status.

I had completely forgotten how hard it is to find the EWR community and modern updated stats. Jesus.

I just found another another good EWR content site. It's actually pretty damn good.

I'm thinking about starting a backyard federation playthrough. It seems like it could be interesting.

I like playing the game at lower levels in terms of promotion status, anyway. Cult and regional have long been my favorite areas, while my sole experience with Global that I can remember was a nightmare. Of course, it was also one of the first times I attempted to play EWR almost ten years ago so...

I just really, really hope I don't get the glitch that put me off of the game back in 2010. To play several in-game months of gameplay, putting a lot of effort into it (sitting down and writing out month long programs on paper first without even touching the game), and doing fucking amazingly well (better than ever) to have it randomly glitch up and become unplayable is heart breaking.

It's happened to me twice before. If it happens again... I don't know if I'll be able to play EWR again.

BTW, I was going to post this as an edit to my last post, but the board was giving me the "Forum does not exist Error Code: 20001:2140173" message when I attempted to so... separate post it is.

Edit:

I find one of the hardest things to do in the intial planning stages for a original company is come up with championship/division names.

The big main championship and the tag team championships are easy because they can just be named after your company (with 'World' added if it works), but other belts are difficult to name.

For years, I've used my original company NCW which starts out as "Northwest Championship Wrestling" (my region) and eventually becomes "National Championship Wrestling when it goes, well, national. So I've usually had a "Northwest Championship" for the midcard which becomes the "United States Championship" when I go national. That works for NCW (but not necessarily any other company, although different regions can have their belt I suppose).

But what about the women? I always want a women's division what with me being a huge supporter of women's wrestling, but coming up with a cool but different name is hard. I used to use "Siren's" but then learned it was legit championship with real life company. I don't want a division that sounds too prissy since I have legit women wrestlers fight in it when I can, but just using "Women's" sounds... boring.

After consulting thesaurus.com, maybe "Virago"? One of it's definitions is "a woman of strength or spirit". But "Virago" doesn't sound very attractive.

I think I'll just use "Women's". :(
