I've seen a few people make bad comments towards Mike Tenay. Personally, I've always enjoyed his announcer skills. He knows the names to all the moves and he does his best to call the match while selling storylines. I admit he can be a bit overdramatic at times, but I still think he does an excellent job. Am I in the minority? |

I easily prefer him over J.R., that's for sure. Then again, I can't stand Ross. I think Mike is one of the more believable commentators in wrestling's long history. He looks and sounds like a commentator that could fit into any sport. If anyone deserves bad reviews, it's Don West. Annoying doesn't begin to describe him. |

I have always thought that Mike was the 2nd best announcer in wrestling next to Joey Styles. I agree that West is bad. I was always pushing for Shane Douglas to be the color guy, but I was in the minority on that one.... |

Tenay's not terrible, he's just a mediocre commentator. Reminds me a bit of Todd Grisham on Heat... |

Tenay is awesome, if he had a better co-announcer, he'd be alot better than some make him out to be, what they don't understand is that he's working with someone who sounds like shit and is just bad overall, Tenay knows his stuff and if it was'nt for his knowledge, smarks would'nt know what the hell others would be talking about. Knowledge is power and Tenay is bar none one of the best, if they brought someone else who actually knew about wrestling then he would'nt have to work overtime. |

In history, if anyone should be put as worst commentator, it should be the so call "King" who relates to nothing but being an absolute perv, being his job is a bullshit excuse to have him sound like a complete idiot on tv, "Oh puppies".....fuck off Lawler. There are or were alot worst commentators than Tenay but hey, if that's what you think then whatever..... |

Well that's a blatant over exaggeration if I've ever seen one. Tenay does stress the storylines (as do all commentators), but he has never been that over-the-top. When it comes to calling the right moves by their proper names (and not just calling it a modified something), putting over the faces as faces and heels as heels (and not just agreeing with a guy in a black cowboy hat while talking about puppies), and selling storylines all at the same time, then there really isn't any better than Tenay. He isn't nearly as passionate as J.R. but he is considered by many to be a walking wrestling encyclopedia. |

When Mike Tenay is beign bullied by a wrestler and puts that face of his on and starts yelling back, I wish someone would strangle the ugly bastard. I dont know, I just can't stand the guy. People disagree with me alot on here, and if they do now, it's no different, but I think Tenay is the absoloute worst right now. Every single PPV is the best. Where as in WWE only 1 PPV gets that title. Every new signing is the face of TNA. At least when good ol J.R exagerates, it's funny. " Oh dear god." "Jesus All Mighty" Funny. Tenay has never said a funny thing in his life. I just can't stand the guy. 2nd worse behind him is Cole. Then Taz. And then maybe Jerry Lawler. |

Taking into account the three WWE brands and TNA, I'd rate the commentators from best to worst as: J.R. Mike Tenay Joey Styles JBL (Excellent heel commentator) Tazz Cole King Don West King used to be a great heel commentator. But somewhere during the attitude era he started being J.R.'s buddy, which throws off the on-camera bickering between the two and makes Raw look too "friendly". Plus, he talks about puppies too damn much. |

Ooooh, I love this. My turn. : J.R JBL Styles King No1 Now that I think of it I really dont like that many commentators. Taz-Cant get his words straight. West- Can never remember Cole-Fruit cake of all the fruit cakes. Tenay- Makes me wanna puke. If Coach were still a commentator I would put him 2nd or 3rd. My only problem with JBL is when he is talking about someone, he tends to go into lists, and misses most of the match. Actually thats not a problem at all. I would rather listen to JBL then watch a Smackdown match or have to listen to Cole gay up my Friday nights. |

The Man. Any Questions?
|
I don't like Tenay's over-exaggerations any more than I like it when Ross does it. Tenay seems to have learned that from his buddy from WCW, Schiavone. Remember when every Nitro, we were going to see "the most important match in the history of our sport!"? Now, Tenay has taken on the lead-shill role. Merely describing what I'm seeing, I have no problem with. But, when an announcer starts telling me I'm seeing something I'm not, he gets on my bad side. I think Tenay and Ross should both tone down the hyperbole. It isn't necessary. |

Yes, Styles does that. He's guilty of the same kind of thing, but has it a little more under control than the other two guys I mentioned. He may have that one trademark yelp, but he usually doesn't try to tell you that someone is "Bleeding all over our announce table" when someone has a baby gash and not one drop of blood is on anything, or try to tell us that "Edge has been rescued by the Port Authority", as if he'd been flung halfway to Gilligan's Island, when he was clearly about 3 feet from the dock ladder. |

There's nothing wrong with Mike's work. He just knows what he's talking about. I mean it may be a change if you watch WWE closely and you're a fan of JR or something. Becuase what he's doing isn't play by play but what ever. Mike knows what he's talking about quite simple but the only annoying thing I dislike from him is that he seems "invisible" to the heels. He stands in there face and dishes it out. I mean what's seriously up with that? |
