STAY HYPED!!!
As we head towards "Bound For Glory", it appears as if TNA is finally bringing 10 months worth of storyline to a climax. We saw TNA hype Sting's return to wrestling. We saw Sting "retire" from wrestling for a few months only to be stalked by Jeff Jarrett by way of Alex Shelly. We saw Sting main event several PPVs. We saw Jarrett/Sting I which was just laying the foundation for Jarrett/Sting II. We haven't seen Sting job for anyone, but he's arguably put over both Christian and Joe to some degree. And we are now witnessing Sting take his second extended break from TNA within his first. With just a little over two months remaining on Sting's contract, do you think he was worth it? Was the push he was given warranted? TNA paid out major bucks to get Sting into the company. Was he overpaid? Impact ratings aren't any higher now than they were prior to Sting entering the company. Is his drawing power overrated? So, what is Sting's worth? Is he worth everything TNA has handed him over the past 10 months? Is his eventual job (to Joe, hopefully) worth everything we've seen up to this point? |

The Man. Any Questions?
I don't think Sting is very valuable at this point. When TNA was first starting, years ago, he was needed, to help create a fan base. TNA is beyond the "newb" stage now. They don't need established veterans. In fact, they need the exact opposite: homegrown, young stars to be the "poster boys" for TNA. Having veterans from other promotions around (and, inevitably, monopolizing the top spots) hinders the company, rather than helping it. When TNA first started five long years ago, there were two top names: Jarrett, and Sting. Now, five long years later, who's the main attraction? Jarrett, and Sting. A huge, established company like WWE can keep reliving the past, and dragging out old, tired performers (but they still get criticized for it) and get away with it. A young, supposedly growing company, like TNA, can NOT get away with this. Shelling out money for Sting, and keeping him around, is holding them back, not helping them. |

I'm kinda leaning both ways on this matter, and here's why.... Sure Sting is old but in a way as mentioned has helped out the company when it started, now the reason he is back is to retire the way he wants, this is one of the main reasons he stated in interviews on why he did'nt go to WWE, perhaps it was alittle overpaid talent but it happens in any company, it's alot better than having chicken heads run around your promotion and not knowing how to dance, waste time on useless segments and just be nothing but an annoyance to watch. TNA should be focusing on their own homegrown talent which is what they are trying to establish, yes they could've and maybe even used the money they invested in Sting to bring over some more talent from.....say ROH, the same though could be said for the ones they shelled out for that were from the WWE, the thing is they want to make stars that were'nt going anywhere in another company, I think this is one of the reasons Jarrett feels compelled to be NWA champion the majority of the time since WWE did'nt give him the oppurtunity to do so. In a same sense, this is what is happening with Sting, from a christian standpoint, HBK says he is very into God and I do not doubt that, but at the same time, he compalins constantly about the actions that have taken place since the reformation of DX, Sting on the other went to TNA because he knew he would'nt be put into situations like that while having breathing room to do what he can to help out whoever, plus on top of that, Sting has a huge influence on wrestlers and I've seen this in the segments when the !mpact center would be filled with the faces and the heels, it's something that is kinda unexplainable, you just have to realize it or not, he brings a presence just like Undertaker would or some other big name in WWE, but he is just doing it for TNA since he saw the opportunity that was given to him. Knowing that WWE has the entire WCW library, TNA alone knew that they were going to have to do something special with Sting and if you read about the upcoming Sting dvd, you would know this since they cannot access any footage from WWE. Sting is old and is on the verge of retiring, I have been a fan of Stings since the original NWA days, and will still continue to support him cause he is one of the few wrestlers that stuck with a company when almost every top name left to pursue more money in another promotion, not only that but who would'nt want to go out the way they want to if given the chance? I know if I was put in Stings position or if anyone were here, I bet they'd take that chance too. |

Stand Back! There's a Hurricane Coming Through
I fully expect Sting to beat Jarrett for the title then spend his final months putting Samoa Joe over. Joe will be the man that gets the rub from the Sting Legend. Say what you want about the man, but Sting is a deserving Hall of Fame wrestler and should be thought of in the same breath as HHH, The Rock, Steve Austin etc. He never went to the WWE, but he is still a huge name and presence in wrestling. Putting Joe over and "passing the torch" to him is the right thing to do and a good move for TNA. |
