Since it appears that WWE is having a silent draft this year, then does anyone else beside me think that Shelton should be moved to SmackDown!? Shelton has had a good run on Raw and has pretty much gone as high as he can on the brand. He's been in the IC division so long that he's pretty much exhausted all his possibilities and is now reserved to Heat while Nitro has his run with the gold. Whereas on SmackDown!, Shelton would be exposed to guys that he hasn't worked with (Kennedy) and/or guys that he hasn't worked with since he was drafted to Raw several years back.

i think he should go to sd to i know its not mucgh for the brand but shelton can have some awsome matches when he wants to and me personally hate him not being used on raw as of late it sucks.

No.

If went to SmackDown!, he wouldn't get ahead. He'd just get buried there, just like he has been on RAW.

He'll never be in the main event, because he's an actual athlete, not just a guy that makes jokes, cries about his precious paintings, makes stupid faces while yelling, "I'm Rated-R!", or has a cartoon gimmick.

There's no room at the top for wrestlers in wrestling.

I think it would be good for Shelton to move to Smackdown. Maybe his contract on Raw will expire (hey, that's how Orton and Super Crazy arrived to Raw).

Shelton vs Hardy would be awesome, also having him feud with Kennedy or Lashley would be cool.

I thought that Shelton's last IC reign was pretty sad. I mean, he had the chance to pin John Cena and instead he pinned RVD? That was sad.

But if he stays on Raw, let him get back on track and feud with Super Crazy or join Cryme Tyme.

What kills me is that Shelton would be a great addition to any brand, Raw, SD! or ECW. But, when he gets on TV, the WWE refuses to give him that push or fued that will propell him. I know his mic skills are a little weak, but if Jeff Hardy can get the monster push he gets, Shelton can get one too.

On a side note, with SD! hurting like it is, why are guys like Charlie Haas, Val Venis, Lance Cade etc relagated to house shows and an occasional Raw job match? They could boost the roster too. I know they aren't main eventers, but they would help.

Will Shelton Benjamin join Cryme Time or not? He said Vince didn't pick him for backup at Unforgiven because he was black...

I hope not.

I don't think so, at any rate. That doesn't really mesh with Cryme Tyme.

Yet again, we've seen this before! Nation of Domination, anyone?

I don't want to see Shelton degenerate into whining about "holding down the black man", like Faarooq did all those years ago.

Benjamin doesn't need that. He's legit, and a star (face it, we all noticed when he was absent). Taking on a bitching and moaning character will weaken his status, not strengthen it.

Shelton is like a younger version of Benoit. He's praised in the ring, but jeered in the charisma and mic skill departments. I do not like where Shelton's character may be headed, but I think he'd be better served if he had a manager/valet to do his talking for him. When his "momma" was with him, he was getting over to a point that he had never nor since reached.

I absolutely hated "Mama".

I'd like to see him actually get to say more than five words in a row, though. Everyone craps on his promos, but how many have we actually seen him do? Not many; he gets maybe two minutes on the mic per month, if that.

Plus, he's stuck (like all WWE employees) reciting everything from a damn script. What we hear isn't Shelton, it's some hack writer.

I'm not one for reliving the past in most cases, but this is the glaring exception. I wish they'd go back to the days when performers were simply handed a mic, and told, "talk". All ad-lib.

That allows the performer to actually stamp his own personality on his character. As a result, you (the viewer) don't just "hear" the performer, you can "feel" him. His real words. It helps the audience identify with him.

That is how every single one of the biggest guys got over.

Try to imagine what would have happened to Austin if he was stuck reciting the words of some Poindexter instead of just cutting loose. There may not have ever been an "Austin Era".

And I think when Shelton said that line because he was black, he got a pop for that one and then Coach made him go away.

I think he could have been part of that Six Pack Challenge for the IC replacing Masters.

we'll probably get The Nation of Domination, V2! i'm officially calling this as happening. for the record, i think Cryme Tyme will do some form of worked-shoot.....blaming WWE for making them take such a stereotypical character, just to get on TV.

I doubt people were cheering his race comment. They were probably cheering him being on tv and sort of calling out Vince (possible face turn?).

They're trying to kill Shelton.

If they make him a "you aren't pushing me because I'm black" guy, he will never get the respect he deserves.

That kind of thing makes him look like an excuse-maker. If he rides that character, it will cheapen him. He could win the World Title, but all anyone would be saying is, "oh, Vince let him be Champion because he didn't want to be accused of discrimination".

By doing this, they're taking all of Shelton's credibility and flushing it down the hopper.

using the race card would be more entertaining then the lackluster momma's boy. besides, most wrestling fans have short-term memory. if they do go through with the race card, most fans will forget about it pretty quick.

if it means anything, The Rock was in The Nation of Domination for quite awhile. i'm sure you all remember how much the race card got played up with them. yet, it could be argued that this helped to get The Rock's career moving in the right direction.

perhaps the same thing will hold true with Shelton. maybe this is what's needed to push him to the next level.

That is true. However, it could be argued that The Rock helped move the Nation away from the race card movement. In his very first speech, he said "This isn't a white thing. This isn't a black thing. This is a respect thing."

Exactly.

They stopped bitching that they were black way back in July, after Faarooq lost in his Title shot against Undertaker.

By the time the Rock joined them in September, they were far removed from that. The only thing they were concerned with is feuding with Faarooq's former lackeys, Crush and Savio Vega.

And I don't see how bitching about being "held down because I'm black" can be any more entertaining than anything.

Short memories? No. WWE likes to insult the audience by assuming that, but that doesn't mean it's true.

Everyone here remembered that D-X happened before. Everyone here remembered that the Nation of Domination happened before. And on and on.

We're not as stupid as Vince thinks we are.

I think he should go to Smackdown and go for a fued with Kennedy but no doubt the writers would give him a push that leads him into the WWE title area.

Well I dont like it when a good wrestler goes to Smackdown, so I dont hope that happens. I hope Shelton can get back involved in the stuff with Carlito, Masters, Nitro, Orton, Crazy and Hardy. Cause Im really diggin that.

i forgot those details, to be honest.

considering WWE's storylines over the last 3-4years, i'd personally consider this an attempt at something entertaining. if this was 6 years ago or longer, then i'd agree with your statement.

many fans do tend to have short-term memories. ever notice how many pushes & storylines get stopped with no warning? when something like this happens, which it will, try to see how many fans actually notice. i'll use Trish as an example. when she had a title reign for a year and a half.....i think it was just before she dropped the belt to Mickie James......most people forgot that she was out with an actual injury. most people didn't even realize that she was gone, not to mention that the "30-day clause" wasn't even mentioned.

several weeks back, Matt Hardy had an actual pinfall victory over Mr. Kennedy. it was quickly forgotten with a week......2 weeks tops. i haven't heard any fan mention, since it happened.

if i could remember more examples, i'd bring them up.....but, i'm having my own brainfarts.

Also, don't forget the booking philosophy (made famous by Cornette, I think) that after 7 years the wrestling fanbase has had such a turnover that any storyline can be used again. What is currently redundant and unentertaining to long term fans like ourselves is new and exciting to people that started watching sometime around the year 2000.

i'm aware of the Cornette philosophy. my own logic is that some things should never be repeated (DX, NWO). of course, being a long-term fan partially explains why i like to complain a lot.......seen it all so many times that it's gotten old.
