Looking into the Crystal Ball with Never_More; Wrestlemania 23

I know we are only in October but I'd thought I might make a few wild predictions as to what may happen at Wrestlemania 23. I know there is a lot of factors that could go against me, like some hirings and firings, so I am basing this on what has been happening at the moment and what I think should happen. I guess this is how I'd book Wrestlemania.

WWE Championship
Randy Orton vs Edge ( c )
With Edge being champion, I know we'd have to endure another Cena/Edge title match at NYR or Royal Rumble, but I think he would be a great heel champion for a babyface turning Orton. Personal feelings aside, Orton has had good momentum over the past year and has built a legion of fans. Whether you consider him deserving or not, it's probably time to give him a proper title run to see how well he can handle it. This could possibly be a triple threat match involving Cena or Triple H, but I got better plans for them.

Hulk Hogan vs Big Show
It is highly rumoured that Hogan will face Austin at Wrestlemania, but I can't see a compromise happening between the two. So I think Vince will go to his back up plan. 20 years have past since Hulk Hogan famously Powerslamed Andre the Giant, so in a state of nostalgia, Vince may want to recreate that match with the Big Show. The Big Show gotten a big push lately, so it could happen if Hogan/Austin doesn't. As for Austin, with The Condemned due for release, I think he'll end up being inducted into the Hall of Fame.

World Heavyweight Championship
Batista ( c ) vs Lashley
It has been mentioned in this forum that this may take place, and I have no doubt it will. It's just a shame that King Booker (I think he'll revert back to Booker T) and Chris Benoit will be back on the mid card for this event.

D-Generation X vs The Brothers of Destruction
This will, without a doubt, be one intriguing match up. Will Triple H or even Shawn Michaels be willing to lose to The Undertaker? Because I can't see Undertaker's streak ending now, it's too precious to him. This is why the more I think about it, the more I doubt it will happen. A person can dream though.

Money in the Bank Ladder Match
John Cena vs Jeff Hardy vs CM Punk vs Sabu vs Chris Benoit vs Booker T
There's no reason that the Money in the Bank match won't take place, as it has become sort of a tradition. This time around ECW will be in the mix, so I included two from each brand. It was hard leaving out Shelton Benjamin, who is almost synomynous with MitB matches. As for John Cena, I figured one of three things will happen. 1) Be included in the WWE title match, 2) Be invovled in a high profile feud, or 3) Win the MitB match. If the first two don't happen, winning the MitB will continue his push as a main eventer while he shoots his next picture. More than likely though Cena will be in a high profile feud (I'm guessing Vince). So insert Shelton Benjamin if that happens.

ECW Championship
Rob Van Dam ( c ) vs Rey Mysterio
I think RVD is overdue for a heel turn, so I think he'll turn heel and feud with the returning (and hopefully rejuvenated) Rey Mysterio.

Other matches
I think we can expect the usual Playboy cover girl crap. I would like to see the underappreciated Matt Hardy win the U.S. belt. He has had so much heartache in recent years and had to put up with a lot, so he deserves some kind of push. After a mini feud with Benoit, Chavo Guerrero could become U.S. champion and defend the belt against Hardy. If Shelton misses out on the MitB match he should be involved in another IC title match with Carlito, Nitro, Masters or maybe even Kennedy. Cryme Tyme should be established tag champions by Wrestlemania and will defend the belts. Umaga however, should be forgotten by Wrestlemania and will end up in the Interbrand Battle Royal.

The WWE Hall of Fame Inductees:
Stone Cold Steve Austin, Owen Hart, Big Bossman, Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Ric Flair, Macho Man Randy Savage, Rick "The Dragon" Steamboat, Lawrence Taylor and Harvey Wippleman. I'm sorry if I had forgotten someone or included somebody who has already been inducted.

The Man. Any Questions?
Sounds fairly accurate, with just a few "wishful thinking" items.

Here's how I think it will go:

Main Event (WWE Title):

John Cena vs. Randy Orton - the two "futures of the business", in WWE's eyes ONLY. Shitty match, but WWE is determined that this is the next Austin-Rock. We'll just have to deal with it.

World Title:

Batista vs. Ken Kennedy - Batista sucks, so he'll be in the Title match (that's the way WWE does things now). Kennedy is there, because people think he's great because he can yell his own name. Wow. Lashley and Booker are shoved aside.

ECW Title (if it still exists at that time):

You could be spot-on with Rey vs. Rob here, but I'm thinking they've been saving a RVD vs. Sabu match for something, at WrestleMania could be that something.

Obligatory Deadman win:

No way in Hell Undertaker gets stuck in a tag team match in his final event. Look for Undertaker vs. Edge in the "battle of unbeatens" here. Could be the best match of the event, in fact...

Obligatory Pukester match:

Hogan is at WrestleMania, no matter how much he sucks. I think you've got the call: Hogan vs. Big Show, to try to "recapture the magic" (and failing miserably)...

Now, I'm not sold on the Ladder Match. Huge stadiums (like Ford Field) don't lend themselves to easy gimmickry, with stuff being suspended off the dome. It could happen, though.

Others:

Triple H will figure prominently. It's just a question of "who". Who will be the second-tier guy that gets into the ring with the Game? I have a feeling Carlito will be the one, with Triple H having turned heel by then.

Why? Why must you be so pessemestic. If WWE is so awful, why do you watch?

It's not pessemism; it's realism. Read each match, and you'll see some reason for each one.

Now, if Never_More had made a thread about how we'd want WrestleMania to go, it would be much different.

I know this is speculation, but I have a problem with Cena being in this match. The MITB match has been used to elevate guys that either have never been in the title hunt (Edge, RVD, Shelton, etc) or has fallen from the title hunt (Jericho). Cena has monopolized the WWE Title for nearly 2 years. There's no reason for him to be in such a match, ever.

I'm right with you there, but I just wouldn't be surprised if Vince book him that match to win it. I'd figure that it could be a way for Cena to stay in the title hunt while he left to film his next movie. Holding the briefcase (in Vince's eyes at least) will keep the hype surrounding Cena.

If I was to list a different ladder match, It'll include Shelton Benjamin and I think Hardy would win it. He is popular, and the WWE may take a chance on him.

They are definately interesting matches.
But this is how I would see it.

John Cena © vs Jeff Hardy for the WWE title.
Matt Hardy vs Batista © for the WHC Title.

That is all!

If those were the main events, even I wouldnt buy it. Those would be horrible.

Hardy Boyz main eventing Wrestlemania 23?? So your idea having both Jeff and Matt win is to recreate a "Benoit-Eddie" scene like what happened at Wrestlemania XX? I wouldn't deny it would be touching to see Jeff and Matt at the end with both titles, but that is just somehow unbelievable to me. Jeff has returned not much ago to WWE, Matt hasn't got a good push enough to get into the World Heavyweight Title scene. Comparing Matt and Jeff to Benoit and Eddie, the Hardys are still far away from the WWE or WHC title hunt, while Benoit and Eddie deserved it more than anyone at the moment.

To make Jeff vs Cena work and Matt vs Batista work... it will have to be this way:

One Hardy wins the Royal Rumble: Jeff. Have Matt win his title shot at No Way Out. Or have Matt win the RR and Jeff win it at a Raw show.

Jeff vs Cena can be a normal match (a Fall Counts Anywhere would be more logical) and have Cena losing by Jeff cheating or reverting the F-U to Twist of Fate and go for a Swanton Bomb (assuming Cena's bleeding real bad by then, which only happens when pigs fly)and get the pin.

But Matt vs Batista... it would have to be a Ladder match or TLC. I don't see Matt beating up Batista in a clean match.

As much as you would love to see underdogs getting the final scene of WM23 with the main titles, I don't know if it would work. Maybe some years later...

Jeff and Matt just arn't good enough. I'm still upset that Triple H won't be in the main event this year. It just won't be the same.

I know. It'll be better. Although, there is a chance that DX will split between now and then (by the grace of your god let them split). I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Triple H isn't in either title match regardless of the DX situation.

It all depends on Shawn's knee to geet DX split apart.

Trips not Main Eventing Wrestlemania would be fine by me.

Sorry to bump this thread, but in the light of recent events what do you Umaga will be doing at WM23? I originally had him pegged as a participent in the pre show BR. It seems quite obvious now that he may be doing more than that.

Plus... one new fight that has came to mind is maybe Triple H vs Edge. Have we seen those two in a heated one-on-one feud? Edge's streak will likely end though. Triple H has lost the last three Wrestlemanias and might be looking for a win to quench his thirst. But if you think about it, it could be an interesting match up between two very competant workers. It will be no Angle vs Michaels, but played right it could be a very heated match of the night contender. What do you think?

There the 2 best all around wrestlers going right now. And all around I mean on the mic and in the ring. Sure Trips has lost a step and Edge may not be WMX7 style anymore, but these 2 guys can put together a great fued if done right. And Trips probably would drop to Edge. Since he aint the spotlight hogger people think he is.

BAWAHAHAHAHAHA! HHH doesn't even consider Edge a main-eventer! HHH opted to pass up a fued with Edge because of that!

Did he tell you this personally. I think not my son. We don't know why he decided to pass on a fued. Maybe its because he wanted to continue DX. Oh and what do you know, he's in a fued with Edge as we speak.
