STAY HYPED!!!
|
Everyone looks for a get-rich-quick scam. Even if you are a hard working, prideful individual, in the back of your mind you have such a fantasy. It is, after all, a universal fantasy. Everyone wants to get something for nothing. Well, my friends, I have stumbled upon my get-rich-quick scam, and it's going to make me money hands over fists (whatever that actually means). I have tentatively titled it "If I didn't love you, I'd marry you" or "If I didn't love you, I'd probably have to marry you". I haven't really settled on a title yet. The basic plot is that a guy falls in love with a woman. However, due to his painful past, he is hesitant to commit to the woman. He has been hurt so often, in fact, that he now thinks a solid commitment is the death of any relationship. When I first thought of this, I was thinking a song. Given the title and the song material, I think it could be an excellent country song. Go back and look at some of the titles and subjects covered in country songs. Hell, ask the average Joe blow to define the country genre and I'm willing to bet good money that he will say something along the lines of "my wife left me, my dog died, my truck broke down, so I got drunk". That's the stereotype that country music has earned. So I'm thinking the title alone will fit in well. However, there are two things preventing me from taking my idea and turning it into the next multi-platinum selling single. First of all, I do not know how to write music. Even if I were to compress the idea into 4 minutes worth of lyrics, I cannot carry a tune, I cannot write sheet music, and I couldn't make a demo. It's hard to sell a musician an idea, and even if I did he'd get the credit for actually writing the song. The second draw back is that even if, by some miracle, I did manage to write the song, modern country radio doesn't play this type of music anymore. So even if I did write the song, it wouldn't have the airplay to make it a hit, which in turns means I wouldn't be pulling in the money, and lets face it, this is a get rich quick scam and not something I'm making because I want to be considered a good artist by my peers. With music out of the question, my new idea is to turn this story into a book or novel. I have written creative writings in the past. I've even been published nationally before. Grammar is my weak point, so I'd need to have a good relationship with my editor, but aside from that all is good. The only big road block, from a creative standpoint, is how thick do I want my book to be. Big books are hard to sell, yet smaller books often lack depth. I don't want to compromise the integrity of my excellent idea, yet at the same time I do not want to have to force it down anyone's throats. But fear not, my loyal Cybru-holics, I shall come to a decision and I'll be off on my way to being a rich little mo-fo! Of course, getting this thing printed will be an obstacle all to itself, but that's neither here nor there in my fantasy. |
