Semi-retarded ravings from a cigarette smoking man

So I suppose I should explain that I don't smoke cigarettes, because doing so would be totally uncool. Totally uncool to the max to do so, I believe. Cherish those lungs, because you won't be able to use them very well in 50 years when they're filled up with black goo. Imagine that, trying to breathe while your lungs are filled with black goo? Sounds pretty hard, huh? Indeed.

Actually, speaking of which, there's this nice man and woman up the street by the name of Betty & Alan who smoke. Well, one of them smokes, the other is gradually dying. It's quite sad actually, considering how they've been a staple of my life. Every day as I walked to school as an infant, with my mum and sister, they'd be out pruning their garden, talking to neighbours and having a good time, sometimes while smoking cigarettes. It's sad, because one of them cannot do it anymore. One of them, Alan, is hooked up to a breathing machine. He can go off it for periods of time, usually no longer than about three minutes, then he has to rush back because he can't breathe. It saddens me deeply, that this man and woman who met on a train on their way to work, who've lived together all their life, who were unable to conceive a child will be broken up soon due to cigarettes. Betty will be fine, but Alan won't be there for her, and that's very heartbreaking, because they were always so happy together. When I told John, the guy who I went to school with who lives up the street, he was equally as saddened.

Speaking of which, John goes to The University of Sydney. I attended The University of New South Wales last year, but The University of Sydney is that place I always wanted to get in to. Luckily, with my awesome dedication to work, I got my transfer there and will be attending it next year. However, this could be very bittersweet. I made some pretty cool buddies at UNSW; Paul, Alex, Jenny and that Asian guy whose name skips my mind, they were cool. Now I've got to depart them to go to the new uni, but will it be the same? Surely, I'll make new friends, but I wonder what will happen regarding my friends from high school who go there now. Will it be the same? Awkward? Bizarre? Nostalgic? Who knows?

What I do know, is that awkwardness was quite visible last night at dinner. 'Twas my birthday, so I went out to dinner with the family. It was nice, we went to Enzos pizzeria, which is an excellent place in Camden. If you ever visit Camden, make sure you go. Anyway, at the conclusion of the night when it came time to pay, Thierry, the homosexual, French owner of the restaurant who our family is semi-good friends with, asked how it was. We said it was "good", and then my dad told him it was my birthday. He exlaimed "Oooh, you should have-a said-eh someting, and we would have-a organised yoo a der-ink. How old are you turning?" To which I turned around to mum and said "yeah?" Cue an awkward silence. My dad poked me on the shoulder, "He asked how old you're turning.", to which I replied, "Oh. ha ha, 19. Sorry, I thought you said party hard or something." "Ohh, ha ha, ok. Make sure you party hard *wink*." Said Thierry. I hate those type of moments. Luckily, they don't come often enough to cause a problem. But still, they're annoying.

Do you know what else is annoying? Tourette's syndrome. I've never said anything before, but I do indeed suffer from a mild case of Tourette's syndrome. Strange huh? No? Not really? Beats me. I hear it's quite common. Basically, not very often (some days I go without it), I get an urge to move. It's hard to explain, but think about blinking. You can sit there and try not to blink, but it bothers you and it's uncomfortable. The same goes with me, I get an urge to make a sniffling motion with my nose (once more, very mild), and do so. Fortunately, it just looks like I'm a cocaine snorter. I hear there are much worse cases. I was told that's Tourette's. I haven't had it officially diagnosed, why bother? But 'all signs point to yes'

Larry David, I suspect, suffers from Aspergers syndrome. But who cares, because he's a very funny man. An almost scary attention to detail and urge to complete scripts fully, tying them into a neat knot is what makes his show so cool. You know it is. Unfortunately, there are uncool things in this world as well. One of which, is war. Specifically, the Iraq war. I won't bore you with the details, you all know my stance, but it bothers me greatly. There's someone I know who went to war. Not the Iraq war, but the Vietnam war, a war that was even more ruthless and useless than Iraq. The man is a nice man, in fact, he lives up the street. His name is Alan, and he's dying. Why is he dying? I told you that it was cigarette smoking, but truthfully, that's not the total case. Truth is, he was exposed to lots of nasty chemicals in Vietnam, which doctors told him had exacerbated the results of smoking too much. Really though, without smoking he would have lived a lot longer. It really, really saddens me, that these two massive corparations (the US as a superpower, and cigarette companies) can cause such devastation, and show little or no remorse. Oh well, that's modern life.

Peace out, people. And with that, do you know that the above posting was without a doubt, the biggest piece of information that I've given out about myself on the internet? True story. </musings>
