Just post in this thread if you want to see a pseudo-ban put on these endless ask whoever games. Come on, give me some support!

Okay, let me be the wet blanket around here, and defy popular opinion.

I think the "Ask *whoever*" threads should stay. Who are they really hurting? If anyone doesn't like them, they don't have to respond to them. But I don't think the people who participate in these threads should have their fun stopped, just because someone else doesn't want to participate.

I'm not a fan of these threads, but it's the principle. Just because someone doesn't want to do something, doesn't give them the right to say I can't (this concept goes way, way beyond a forum; there are many examples in true life).

Completely untrue. It's just spam. If we get enough people signing their name in this thread, then we pretty much have a concensus that these threads are the equivilent of spam, and we'd have our first democratically placed 6SW [temporary] rule.

Agreed with majority: Nebuchanezzar, -O-, Dark-Loner
Dissented: SRP76

I liked the "ask Cybrus" thread. After that...All the others were cheap imitations. However. "Ask Rock" wasn't bad either. At least it was original. Plus..It seemed to me as if you were making fun of all the members who started their own "ask" threads. Which ended up being kinda funny.
Yes. You have my vote.

Correct, kind sir. Lol, it'd be pretty hypocritical of me to start this petition and also have my own, legitimate Ask Rock thing going. :D

I'm approaching a breakthrough here folks. :D

I agree with SRP. If you don't like the "Ask whomever" threads, then stay out of them. The threads stay within the forum games folder, so they aren't everywhere. The forum games folder isn't the most active folder on the forum, so the threads help with activity. You don't like them? Fine. But that doesn't mean others that do shouldn't be allowed to participate in them.

I think you're over simplifying the situation. At this time, it takes time and effort to sift through the shit that currently sits in the forum games folder to find threads that are worth reading. I don't want to inconvinience myself, and evidently neither do the majority of members.

Majority rules! Woop woop woop woop!

Might I also remind you that you've made constant references to yourself being an admin of the people, who will put rules in place should the majority of members support such an idea.

Down with 'Ask' threads!

Let them eat Spam!

Give me liberty, or the closing of an 'Ask' thread!

The 'ask' threads are closing! The 'ask' threads are closing!

Yes, but the language my friend, the language. It's like when a Justice dissents with a strongly worded argument, you can just tell how pissed off they are about the whole thing by the tone of their voice.

For a guy that hates The Family Guy. Your posting style, or at least wording, constantly reminds me of Stewie. And I mean no insult. In my mind...It's actually a compliment.

I'd say that it's more similar to the language and prose used by none other than C. Montgomery Burns, albeit with a few less old-timey words thrown into the fray. Hey....wait....A Family Guy character bearing an uncanny resemblance to a Simpsons character? NO WAY!

I say who cares? If you don't like them don't participate in them. And, if they are really so unpoopular, they will go away when no one participates. They aren't breaking any kind of rule by making them...even if they are annoying.

Yay! And see, even though you fools may subscribe to this fancy-pansy "they're not hurting anyone" point-of-view, fact of the matter is that they simply cannot be ignored. a) there isn't an ignore function on 6SW b) Even if there was we wouldn't be able to use it for these threads c) Henceforth, it's impossible to ignore them d) It angers Nebuchanezzar to have to sift through these awful threads to find the good stuff in the forum games folder.

You also missed out on a few key points of this thread. Even if I fail in introducing a brand-spanking new rule to 6SW, I've still got the sheer majority of 6SW members on the side saying that they don't want this stuff anymore. That'll surely discourage some people from reviving these tired old formulaic threads.

Yeah, I tend to get in such a mood when I see someone try to tell someone else what they cannot do when the action in question not only doesn't violate any type of rule, but is easy to stay away from. :whatever:

Yes, it is easy to stay away from. You see the thread, you don't enter it. Problem solved. Is it really that difficult to scroll past a thread you aren't interested in to click into a thread you are interested in? A lot of the activity within the more recent "Ask Me" threads has been people complaining against the thread. If you would have just stayed away, then chances are that the thread would have most likely been buried beneath other active games. Lets face it, while I do not devalue any member, most of the copycat threads that popped up aren't really the type that can carry an "ask me" thread very long.

The "Ask Me" games are popular for a reason: they are fun for the people that participate. It's no more spammy than any Rumble game where all you do is add/subtract points from someone's name. As you can see, I'm against the notion of making a rule against something popular just because some people don't want to participate.
