Rob Van Dam's match with Snitsky on Tuesday could have very well been his last match ever in WWE. Wade Keller of the Pro Wrestling Torch is reporting that RVD is officially done with World Wrestling Entertainment as of last Wednesday. WWE felt that keeping RVD around and burying him on TV was not worth it and it was better to get him off TV as soon as possible.

His contract wasn't going to expire until late June at the earliest, but WWE officials cut that short because RVD said he would not re-sign with them and they had nothing for him until then. Despite the early release, RVD has a no-compete clause, and thus he can't show up in TNA next week for instance.

He is expected to sign with TNA after a long deserved summer break. If and when he joins TNA, it will probably be in September at the earliest. TNA is trying to land a two hour slot for the fall season on Spike, so if they end up getting it, they'll probably hold him off for the two hour show's debut.

More as we get it. Stay tuned.

Well, time for ECW to go to hell. It'll be a small part in Punk and Burke's carrers, and an embarassment to every true ECW fan.

They would have to acknowledge this on ECW, though. Van Dam was still a prime member of ECW, and the second biggest face. (besides Lashley) They did mention it when Angle left, so I would be very surprised if they didn't make one note of this.

It's not too surprising. I knew WWE wouldn't continue to use him up until the end of his contract because they wouldn't want to give that kind of exposure to a guy on his way out. If his contracted would have simply expired, then RVD would have been able to sign with any other company the very next day. This way, they keep him out of sight and out of mind for at least 90 days.

Thank god. I was dreading watching him job out over and over again. I just wonder if Vince is going to come on ECW TV and claim that he broke the spirit of the old ECW and RVD and so RVD left....

Well I would've thought it would've been alittle later on but guess not.

Now it's time to see where he'll end up, TNA is the most logical choice for him but he could work some Indy dates first to get himself ready to go there, if that's his plan.

No big deal. Who even watches ECW anyway? What, 5 people here, that's it? If we didn't get this "update", we wouldn't even know he was gone.

It would be best to just fold up the "third brand", because it hasn't done anything.

^Yeah they pretty much have Lashley on Raw anyways. The only ones they have shown are the New Breed, Major Brothers, Thorn, Snitsky (who is said to moved soon) and Punk, Vince of course and whomever he brings over from one of the brands.....oh and the jobbers to.

Maybe Vince is keeping it around cause he doesn't want any of the current angles to affect the ones that are going on in any of the brand.

Also, I bet if he did move everyone to either SD! or Raw, the originals would be gone, if they aren't by the end of the year or 6 months.

2 people gone in one week might just be a sign of things to come for the brand.

EDIT-

Now that's strange. I had quoted before you edited your post, but it edited the quoted portion automatically.

Better that he has to wait before he competes so he can rest up and be at full strength for TNA in September. And the timing is perfect, as the news said, being that TNA will most likely have that second hour in the fall.

i don't think this matters much, to RVD. he wanted some time off, anyway. this will give him at least 2 or 3 months off, at the very least. he could spend several months off, if he wanted. i heard RVD was smart enough to put enough money away, making it possible for him to retire.....or, take a nice, long break.

no matter what happens, RVD WON'T be hurting for money.....not anytime soon.

Just an update on some of the recent Rob Van Dam news, PWInsider is reporting that it is likely his last date with the company will be a the June 3 "WWE Presents: One Night Stand" PPV. Other reports have indicated his final night with the company was at the Smackdown/ECW tapings this past Tuesday night in Baltimore, although that hasn't been confirmed. Either way, the company will more than likely keep him off TV for the rest of the month after the June 3 PPV to eliminate the possibility of him showing up on TNA TV after just appearing on TV for WWE.

Regarding rumors that Rob Van Dam finished up with WWE on Tuesday night and will not be working any further dates, a WWE source stated yesterday that this was not confirmed.

While many people in the TNA locker room fully expect Rob Van Dam to join the company, it is being kept very quiet. One source said that RVD’s name is not even being mentioned in the locker room. Evidentially TNA wants to “shock” the wrestling world, much as they did with Kurt Angle.

It's not going to be much of a shock. I think Kurt Angle's announcement has pretty much numbed everyone when it comes to shocking jumps from WWE to TNA. Most of the IWC is expecting RVD to show in in TNA. The only shock would be from the casual fans, and I don't think they'd be overly shocked themselves.

If they could keep it quiet the have him do a run in at a ppv...maybe saving Jerry Lynn from a beat down or something, that would be better than just coming out waving to the crowd or announcing his signing or something. It won't shock the world, but it would be a good TNA momebt.

Last night on RAW, it was confirmed that on ECW tomorrow night, Rob Van Dam & C.M. Punk will face off against Marcus Cor Von & Elijah Burke.

As far as the story that was reported last week on RVD possibly not being on ECW anymore in the future, this match for tomorrow reveals that that report was incorrect. On a side note, RVD may be taken off the One Night Stand pay per view, which was said to be his final show.

It's a fabulous new day, yes it is!

- There is a work interview up with Rob Van Dam on WWE.com indicating that he will be working One Night Stand against Snitsky. As we’ve been reporting, the plans all along for RVD were for him to work with WWE until after the One Night Stand PPV. His contract still expires at the end of June but WWE wants to keep him off of TV so that they do not build him for TNA. There is still, however, a possibility he could sign a new WWE contract.

Wouldn't that be a trip if after all this hoopla about him moving on, he'd sign a last minute contract to stay with the WWE.

You never know... a last minute sign the day before his contract expires... imagine that... well, either way, RVD should do whatever is the best for him.
