Reason why wrestlers moved

Expect Kenny Dykstra to be in line for a slow push on SmackDown. The feeling is that Dykstra has a lot of talent but still needs some time to develop as a superstar in the company. While he was transferred brands to make a bigger impact, do not expect to see the push happen overnight.

The reason that Bob Holly was moved from ECW to SmackDown was because of backstage heat with ECW writer Dave Lagana. Holly stayed on with the brand for months after injuring his elbow and was told he would receive a big push on the brand if he held out until WrestleMania. Holly stayed the course but never received his push, which upset him.

Vince McMahon made the decision to move the Major Brothers from ECW to SmackDown because he changed his mind on the ECW Tag Titles. McMahon now feels that there are too many title belts in the company and is against adding new ones. With that being said, there was no good spot for the Major Brothers to fill on the brand, prompting their switch.

Here is an idea...contract a few of those titles...merge the tag belts and unify the World titles....Then have one champion per show: IC, US and ECW TV or call it ECW Heavyweight or whatever....Women's title and cruiser-weight...The tag and World champs can defend on all shows...there you go.

Let the tag titles be merged, not the World Titles. Taking away 2 main events a PPV is just not good buisness.

About the one World Champion, do all three brands usually tape in cities close to each other?

Having three different "World" titles to define the main event feuds speak volumes about WWE's creative department doesn't it?

No, I think WWE should just use the WW title. It'll be the main title again. that way, we'll have BETTER PPVs.

these are the titles that should stay:

Intercontinental

United States

World Tag Team(the REAL WWE tag titles, not the ones on SmackDown! that started in 2002)

Cruiser

Women's

World Wrestling Entertainment Championship

6 titles is good. Makes way for more rivalries WITHOUT titles to happen. Which is what TNA does since they only have 3. Respect towards Vince for realizing that there's to many titles.

Are you saying that a title has to be on the line in order for a match to be of main event stature?
Anyway. I do think the tag titles should be merged. I would also merge the IC and US titles, to be defended on any brand. (cept ECW)

I'm saying WWE gets to bill 3 World Championship matches on 1 card. Making that card look more appealing. Maybe not to you, but to the average fan. That is what I'm saying.

My thought is that since the PPV's are all Tri-Branded now anyway, having one World champion makes even more sense. The last match on the card is always the biggest and it can be the World or WWE or Undisputed Title or whatever.

Also, having two less World titles would mean the top tier guys would have to start fighting over the IC and US titles, thus elevating those belts back up the card.

Okay, an average fan, has been watching wrestling the past 5 years. Isn't really in to all the backstage politics and that shit. He looks at what matches are on the upcoming PPV. He see's the main event is an World Title Match. He looks down the card and some of the top guys are fighting for lower ranked belts.
OR

He looks at the card, see's the main event is a World Title Match. But wait, there is another World Title match with 2 of the top guys. BUT WAIT, there is a 3rd World Title match. On top of that, the lower ranked titles are on the line with some of the younger up and comers.

I wonder which one he'll pick.

I would hope that he would pick the card that wouldn't leave him asking.. "So, which one is the REAL world title?" Or.."So, who is the top guy in the company?"
Boxing bothers me in much the same way.

That wouldn't happen.

The "Mr. Casual" you're talking about would simply look at the card, say, "now, where's that one wrestler I like....oh, there he is....who's he fighting?...oh, he's fighting this guy".

And that's all the card-looking he'd be doing. Actually, most of the "hardcore fans" even do the same thing, to an extent. You look for "your boy" first, then worry about what all the other matches are.

I don't know what average fans you talk to, but the casual fans that I talk to always ask the same question when talking about the three world titles: "so which one is the real title?" Everyone I talk to about wrestling knows that only one title is truly important enough to be THE title. Having three titles is pretty pointless, especially now that all PPVs are tri-brand.
