With Benoit's death, and Mr. McMahon's storyline coming to a crashing halt, it makes me wonder what exactly next the WWE will do? Anybody have any predictions?

Interesting question. It's obvious they will do what they can to pretend Benoit never existed but this will have a lasting impact on the image of WWE and Pro Wrestling as a whole. Ratings will go up.

I think Benoit will exist (as much as he can, that is) for a few minutes, then it'll go about as if nothing happened. But overall, I have no idea where they're going. As I said yesterday, two of the biggest things WWE was working on are now gone, so they really have to do some changing, on both ECW and RAW.

WWE can forget about any more celebrity appearances in the near future and probably all the big sponsors as well.

I can't see ratings going up. Why would they? What I do see is more people shunning and bashing wrestling and the lifestyle.

This is a hard question to answer because I don't think even the WWE knows what to do now. They got the mainstream publicity they've always craved but at the cost of a wrestler and his family dying. Of course, they'll distance themselves from Benoit as they've been doing now but people will never forget something like this. This was an ultimate tragedy for everyone.

Oooh, duh! :dearlord: I didn't think of that.

I'm not watching ECW but I read that it and Smackdown would just be straight up wrestling matches with no angles involved.

Well they had a 20 minute Cena Nitro match. I didn't watch anymore past that.

I was expecting Vince to start the "Who killed the Benoits?" angle.

It's a fabulous new day, yes it is!
They only mentioned Benoit once and that's it. Punk gets Nš1 contender spot to Nitro's belt.

Getting back to the topic, since the WWE is pretty much in the public eye right now, everything they are doing is thought-out and calculated. The pulling of the merchandise, choosing not to re-air the tribute, deleting pretty much all mention of Benoit on the website, they are doing all this to kind of wash their hands of the tragedy. So for the next few weeks, I see them really doing the PC (politically correct) things of just trying to return to normalcy.

Vince said at the start of ECW that this si the first night in the healing process. Well, I bet WWE now regrets airing the tribute.

It's not like they realized Benoit killed his family before they aired the tribute.

Oh, shit, I was at work, so I missed that. They finally give Nitro a large time limit to show out, and I miss it.

Of course, they waste no time jobbing him to Cena, though. It's like a Commandment, or something: Thou Shalt Put Over John Cena. Everybody gets stuck doing it.

How is that bashing them? WWE's always wanted this type of publicity, on news and entertainment channels. But at the same rate, it took a wrestler tragedy like this to cause it. It's the truth, isn't it?

Well, WWE is in a rut now. This Benoit thing has knocked everything on it's head and the curcuimstances are too bad to follow on WWE TV.

I would say they should re-do the Vince angle... yeah, it sounds stupid, but that would be the way to just carry on as normal.

Yeah and watch more wrestlers die, I take my chances and just watch Vince on tv.

I reckon you'll see the Vince angle stop in its tracks and other storylines will move on as if it'd never happened. That's the best way to get things done anyway, there's no place for where that story was going now.

It's been dropped completely. Vince took the Kayfabe out of it.

4400 was clearly pointing out that regardless of the circumstances, that all the WWE is concerned about is publicity.

Yes, that's bashing.

Some person on youtube videotaped Benoit while he was walking towards his home on Friday. They were screaming like crazy at him. Just excited to see him I guess

Wow, this is crazy. He seems perfectly fine to me. What made him snap?
