The Man. Any Questions?
|
Nope. I can't believe you guys are so easily deceived, especially guys like MY85 and Purps. They "hate" the Rock, but fawn over this chump. I did see the promos. Go ahead and watch all those mannerisms and "little things" you harped about, then watch a Rock promo from 1998-1999. THE SAME FUCKING THING!! Kennedy even uses the same forced-deep voice, to try to make you think he's a man. He's a ripoff, plain and simple. Take the Rock, add white, and subtract cool. Then you have Kennedy. |

Trying to think of something to say? In a scripted promo? Weak. Kennedy's current promo style is almost identical to Triple H's promo style circa 200.. Triple H did the exact same pauses, made similar faces, and had the fans wanting to cheer him even though he was a heel as well. Triple H's style, at that time, even provided Mick Foley an opportunity to making fun of Triple H's "long (pause for emphasis), boring (pause for emphasis) promos".
"Probably" being the key term. It means you don't know why people dislike them, so you are once again (incorrectly) speculating. I like Kennedy because he is entertaining. I don't find anyone on said list all that entertaining.
How idiotic can you get? Not everybody has to have a bodybuilder's physique. What's even worse is that you are a big fan of Umaga who is clearly fat, yet criticize Kennedy because he doesn't have a six pack? Weak.
There may be similarities between promo styles, but Kennedy is anything but a Rock rip off. It's a real shame you cannot see that. |

"Similarities"?! They are identical! Twitch for twitch, pause for pause, every single inflection of voice, the works.

I think Kennedy's promos have more in common with Triple H circa 2000 than with the Rock. The pauses, the facial expressions, the wording, the movements, it's all quite similar.

Scripted? I heard that the wrestlers were told what to talk about, other then that they were on there own.
Triple H never made those stupid twitches or facial expressions in his life. Show me proof of this dumbass comparison.
First off, Kennedy can't do the things Umaga can. Umaga's size is his character you fool. Kennedy is just out of shape. I'm not saying he needs to be a body builder. But he needs to look like an athlete if he's going to be an athlete. And again, he is new. If he wants to let himself go, he needs to earn it first.
I don't see the similarites to any. I mean Trips and The Rock were good. And well, weither you know it now, or you know it later, Kennedy just isn't. |

Stand Back! There's a Hurricane Coming Through
|
OK, first when have I ever fawned over Kennedy? When he first came into the WWE, I was one of the first people to say the guy was not talented in the ring and lacked any real mic skills. But, over time, he has greatly improved. He is still not an excellent wrestler in the ring by any means. But, he is good enough to help put on good matches. His feud with the Undertaker really helped him in all areas. He had good promos and the two had good matches. His push has been slow and delibetare the way a good push should be. He is not forced down the throats of the fans like Cena and Lashly have been. His build up is slow and steady. I don't think he is the greatest guy in the WWE...I don't think he is the greatest guy on Raw. But, right now, he and Booker T have come into Raw and made a dull title scene freash again. And, he has enough charisma to make things interesting for me to watch. |

All hail King Booker!

This is really getting ridiculous the criticism Kennedy is getting. Someone here posed the question that if you hated the Rock back then, how can you like Kennedy now? The question SHOULD be, if you liked the Rock back then, how could you hate Kennedy now? Let's face it people...gimmicks are recycled. There are too many damn wrestlers in this business to give each of them a different personality, promo style, in-ring style, etc. Guys will be compared to other guys. There will be guys that come along who seem like a reincarnation of a past wrestler. So what Kennedy seems like rehashment of the Rock? He's a damn good all-around and entertaining. He's a decent worker, magnetic on the mic, gets good crowd heat more than probably 75% of the WWE roster, and is just plain exciting. He's getting cheers because the fans recognize his talent, not because he's being "pushed down our throats". And too top it all off, he's getting major tips from SCSA. So he clearly can't be that bad, I mean, he's learning from one of the best. Wow, he doesn't have a six-pack. Since when do you have to be cut to be a wrestler? This is one plainly stupid criticism of Kennedy, probably the stupidest. Triple H is pretty much a tub of lard and yet he's still in the ring. Why? Because he's good. So is Kennedy....okay, not as good as Triple H but he's decent. I can admit that he still needs some work. |

Oh, I thought you were one of the ones pushing for him to be World Champion and all that. If you weren't, well...sorry about that.

Stand Back! There's a Hurricane Coming Through
|
Well, I was pushing for almost anybody to be WWE champ over Cena, so I probably did say it somewhere. As far as these comparisons to The Rock and what not...there are a lot of useless comparisons in this thread. Dissecting how a guy pauses and twitches and stands? Who really cares? Does the guy entertain you? The rest is mostly irrelevant. |

Kennedy's definitely not ready to be World Champ. I'd give him another year or so. But I like him being in the main event currently as he's really freshened it up. |

outside of calling Cripple H good, i'd pretty much agree with this statement. from my perspective, it doesn't matter if someone is a knock-off of another wrestler. i don't care if a wrestler has a great body or not. a wrestler could look like freakin' Hillbilly Jim, as far as i'm concerned. only thing that i care about is wether or not a wrestler has some abililty to entertain me. of course, what i find entertaining will obvisously be different then other people, here....but, that's beyond the point. currently, i think Kennedy is reasonably entertaining on the mic. his wrestling abilities leave a lot to be desired, IMO. from my viewpoint, he's got a few things going for him. |

That's the way it worked in the attitude era, but according to Foley's latest book (and maybe even his previous book too, I haven't read that one in a while), WWE now scripts all promos. A few people get to create their own (such as Triple H, Foley, HBK, and others that have proven themselves), but most are reading from scripts entirely.
Not the exact same no, but his promo style was very similar to Kennedy's current promo style, yes. The comparison is legit.

Aw hell no. Triple H has a ton of muscle mass. You look at his arms and there some of the biggest arms in the buiss. I'm not saying Trips isn't fat. He has a bit of belly for the past couple years. But at least he has muscle. Alot of muscle. Kennedy on the other hand has next to no muscle at all. I'm not saying he has to be cut. I'm not saying he has to be a body builder. But at least look like a serious competitor. He looks like your average joe, out of shape, frosted hairplug, constipated middle aged man. |
