WWE has once again changed the philosophy behind its weekly Friday Night SmackDown! telecast.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE no longer views SmackDown! as the "wrestling" show and wants it booked more in accordance with the RAW template.

WWE officials point to the shakeups caused by the draft, which included Paul London, Brian Kendrick, King Booker, Mr. Kennedy and Chris Benoit leaving the show, as evidence that the brand no longer has the depth to run shows "the old way."

Vince McMahon personally changed a great deal of the most recent SmackDown! to reflect the new philosophy.

In other words, they took most of the guys with talent off the show so they can't focus on wrestling anymore.

Pretty much. I wonder how long this experiment will last because we all know SD isn't known for it's amazing storylines.

I hate that. All the talent on the roster and Vince is driving them down.

Idiot.

Oh, quiet. Since we haven't really seen SmackDown! in a storyline situation such as RAW's, we don't know how it can fare. We know guys like Edge, Batista, Undertaker, etc. can make it, and since SD! has different writers and stuff, it could actually be good.

Okay, fine. But when Batista was on RAW, he was actually good, according to many at this site. So maybe if they bring a bit of RAW to SmackDown!, he'll be good again.

Personally I never liked Batista and always found him boring, but I guess that's just me I suppose.

I'd say this is a change for the better, at this point in time. SD! has sucked major monkey balls since the draft. When your roster includes the names Chris Masters, Batista, Kane, Mark Henry, Great Khali, Torrie Wilson, amongst others, then you simply cannot expect a wrestling show.

True. Fine, i guess finally the casual fans will appreciate SmackDown! Since most casuals just watch interviews and promos instead of matches.

maybe WWE should simply fire all the talented performers. then, they can hire spot monkeys & divas. this way, WWE can have it's own incarnation of Jackass, with a touch of softcore porn.

that's pretty much what they're going for, anyway.

There's no further proof that SmackDown is no longer the "wrestling show" of WWE than who is now the top guy on their show.

You know, everyone always says that you can just stop watching to show your displeasure, but I have a question. If you are not a Neilson "family", does it really matter? I mean, the WWE can't tell if I am watching or not right? Or do they do it differently now?
