The following is an article from wwe.com:
It's pretty interesting to consider that everybody that has held the World Title since it came to SD! (and since it came back to WWE really) has since gone out with an injury of some type. Even more noticeable is how the World Title has changed hands three times on free TV because of these injuries. Is this a curse or should WWE finally recognize that they are working their performers too much? It wasn't that long ago when Edge stated that he wrestled 5 matches in 4 days. And he goes out with an injury a few months later. Coincidence? |

All hail King Booker!

I was just thinking about how people always joke about the "Smackdown Curse". It definitely seems like there's a curse on the belt itself! |

That article neglected to mention that Triple H fought through injury during one of his WHC reigns, but I'm not sure whether that one counts or not. But yeah, as sad as it is to say, I was half expecting Edge to finally break down upon hearing rumours about his injuries and heavy workload. Wasn't there also a report saying that Edge had to be at two different events in two different cities on the same day sometime early in the year? |

I didn't hear about that but if that did happen, that's some serious dedication to his craft right there. I do remember that one RAW show when he wrestled three full matches that night. |

The article really just concentrates on the history of the title from the point it was moved to SD! to the present. However, I think everybody that has held the title since it came back to WWE has gone out with an injury. Lets look at the list: Triple H - went out with an injury Shawn Michaels - went out with an injury Goldberg - He may be the exception, but I'm not sure Benoit - went out with an injury Orton -went out with an injury Then everyone from Batista up to Edge was covered in the article above. |

Something else it fails to mention, is the "ECW Championship" curse. If you hold the ECW title, you'll leave as soon after losing the title - RVD: Pretty much the only exception, since it took almost a year, but he did leave the WWE. - Big Show: Lost the title, and immediately left the WWE - Lashley: Held the title for a few months, but have to vacate the title after leaving ECW and being Drafted to RAW. - Nitro: We'll wait and see. |

I guess if Khali gets injured, it will prove it beyond any doubt that the title is cursed. |

I think it has to do with the heavy work schedule WWE has. I think even Lance Storm or one of the other known names said it even. Wrestlers need to rest up. You can't put them on the road for almost an entire year and expect them not to be injured. I know you're getting paid a whole lot, but what's it mean if your body can't take it? Alot of the wrestlers over-exceed their limitations on what they can do which in some cases result in them taking illegal drugs just so they can live up to expectations. Just a thought. |
