Now there aren't enough people here to discuss this but I'm sure they'll add something once they log on. Here's the thing, I have this friend, a very close one but he feels he's addicted to cocaine. For those unaware, this is one of the most addicting drugs out there. Now it's not like he does it everyday, otherwise, he'd be broke but the problem is, he does it weekly which is still pretty bad. I talk to him about it and try to get him to stop completely and he wants to but he's not in to going to AA meetings because he's went before and he didn't enjoy talking to complete strangers about his addiction. The problem is also that he only wants it when he's been drinking alcohol. I tell him to stop drinking but because of his personal issues (family, work, women) he feels the need the I guess take the edge off. People I've grown up with were bad, and I mean they smoked weed, were actual thugs, not the ones that are portrayed on tv by the stations that put that reality crap on and you see some white dude act like he's something he's not, or the ones on that flavor of love show with the white girls acting idiotic. No, these were people who grew up in dc through all that bullshit you probably here on alot of rap records, but only true ones like Ice T. Anyways...I usually don't spill my shit out to anyone on here but I figure, we all have our different views, coming from a different state, country, whatever so anyone have any advice to help me try to improve this situation, come on. |

You can get his family to help or try one of those intervention things. Just tossing out ideas... |

That's the thing, if he tells his family, he's fubar. That show is good though.

To me, it sounds like he knows he has an addiction but doesn't really want to do anything about it.

lol Um. Well, if this person had any smarts then they wouldn't be taking it in the first place, which tells me something about the person who's doing it, imo. |

The Best a Man can Get

You're worrying too much he'll be fine. Cocaine is not the most addictive drug out there, Crack, Heroin and Crystal Meth are much worse. If he only does it at the weekends or whenever he drinks he's hardly very addicted to it, if he can stay off it while sober, he just slips into temptation when drunk. The AA meeting sounds a bit over dramatic, and it doesn't sounds like he really wants to quit, I think he's floating you a sob story so you won't be disappointed in your friend for being a casual drug user. Cocaine is probably one of the safest drugs he could be on oddly enough.. |

This can depend on the circumstances. Is he smoking crack or is he doing a few lines on a Friday night? If he really does it because he's stressed then he just needs find a different way to relieve it. If not it can turn into a big problem. If he's not hurting anything then it's not a big deal. If it affect his job family and friends then I would just point that out to him and convince him to quit. Most of the time they don't listen and just make up more excuses. Friends like that can be tough to deal with. |

Yeah, it's more of a weekend thing. Nothing ever on the weekdays but it's mostly weekends. He doesn't smoke it. Just cuts lines. Some people go out and drink to take the weekly stress off, or smoke weed. He just tends to do this it when he's been drinking a bit much. He's getting better though I guess. About a month again, he'd buy about 2 G's, that grams for no one that knows and spent about $100 every weekend which of course adds up, he bought one this past weekend but wants to stop altogether. I'm just here to try and help him stop but it really comes down to if he wants to stop or not. |

ok like the guy said before i did. if he uses crack to relieve his problems or feel even better than drinking alcohol this can be soon a problem. Just stay by his side and support him as much as you can. make him quit before he becomes really addicted is the best solution to this problem i can give you. And props for you for helping out your buddy and carring for him
(and dont smoke its bad for your health *cough*
