Director David Dobkin ("Fred Claus") has signed on to helm "The Flash" reports MTV News.

Dobkin ("Wedding Crashers") says his adaptation won't be the character's first appearance in theaters, with the Flash a major part of George Miller's Justice League movie.

Dobkin confirmed that his movie will be set in the same universe as Justice League as a direct spin-off, meaning whoever they cast for 'League' will likely reprise the role.

He added that the Flash they will use is "Wally West." Shawn Levy and David Goyer were previously attached to direct.

Wally West :tu:

David Dobkin.. :-/

Wedding Crashers was a hilarious movie IMO, but I hope this Flash movie has a serious tone to it.

I don't debate. I'm always right.

That's not a comforting thought. I won't condemn the guy as director, cause who knows. He could be a superhero geek at heart? Still...I think a guy like Sam Raimi would be better suited for the job.
For some reason or another...I have a feeling that this movie will put me in mind of Dare Devil. (hope not)

I loved Daredevil...especially the directors cut. I think I was the only one though...

No freaking way? I hated it. I gave it a chance. But Ben Affleck ruined it for me.

I enjoyed Daredevil. It's not my favorite, but I enjoyed it a lot more than I did Ghost Rider. :-/

As for Flash, meh. I've never been a real Flash fan (though I he did start to slowly grow on me in Justice League the animated series) so I doubt this movie will do much for me.

One thing is for sure though, it sounds like they're getting way too reliant on the Justice League for these movies. It's all Justice League related movies, basically.

Well in all fairness, all of the top DC heroes are in the JLA.

Sure, but it runs the risk of being too much of the same thing in the end.

For those who aren't high on the Justice League, it could be too much.

Well, name some DC movies that they could make that doesn't involve a JLA member.

I don't know DC very well enough, but would it hurt to make a movie about a DC personality that is fairly unknown by the mainstream or isn't as popular - like Marvel's Daredevil and Ghost Rider flicks.

Or is there any decent ones?

Well, they are making a Watchman movie. Constantine and V for Vendetta were both DC movies.

Then they need more Watchman, Constantine and V for Vendetta type flicks.

We really don't need several movies that relate to the same tiny pool of superheroes.

It would be as if Marvel's only major superhero flicks were all X-Men based. Here's a Wolverin movie and here's a Magneto movie and here's the X-Men movies.

Maybe the problem is more DC's reliance on the Justice League and/or the iconic heroes like Superman?

A History of Violence was a DC movie?

And I didn't know Green Hornet was a DC hero. I always thought he was something else.

A History of Violence was based off a DC Graphic Novel under their Vertigo umbrella.

DC bought the rights to the Green Hornet.
