Just a quick set I threw together after I enjoyed watching Hitman last Tuesday. Let me know what you think..

I think maybe I should remove the '47' text and barcode from the avatar.. but otherwise, I'm happy with it.

I like it. At first, I didn't like the smudgy, cut-out effect, but as I looked into it, I really digged it. The text is fine and I can't spot one thing that I don't like. I don't think the '47' text should be removed, because the avatar would seem boring, at least to me.

I figured you would be the first if not the only person to respond to this.. haha, for obvious reasons.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback.. I've been doing a lot more abstract work with my grpahics as of late because that's the majprity of what we do in college. At least one of the ideas regarding each project should be abstract so I've been dabbling a lot in abstract backgrounds.

When I first saw you wearing it, I thought it was awesome how you did the effects. May I ask some of the steps you took to get that kind of smudge/watery effect?

I don't debate. I'm always right.
Kicks ass, man. I love the abstract stuff when it's done right...and this clearly is.
Also. I like the bar code and number very much. It fits quite well. And I like the fact that you did more with the Avatar, than simply crop it. Far to many people (including me) get lazy on the av.
10/10

PS. I gotta ask. Did you start with a stock bg image, or did you start from scratch?

Well... to start off with, I just took somestills from the film and placed them on top of each other, I believe I used these two: One and two.
I blended them together (on top of each other) using a few different modes, I forget which now.. more than likely hard light/overlay.

Anyway.. I blended and mixed those a good few times... then I imported a background I had painted in college.. it was just a watercolour mix on paper, with some cutouts from newspapers glued down.. I had also outlined the paper cutouts using ink and the stick end of a paintbrush. Sounds fancy, but it really isn't..

Next I blended that into the stills... finally adding the cutout effect from Photoshop once I'd merged them all together. I lowered the saturation as well because after all those blends it looks a little too "loud", and changed the colour tone slightly.

Anyway.. I applied the same effect to the hitman main cut as well. And well the text is easy enough, I don't think I need to explain that.

To be honest, I don't ever remember all the steps I take to get my results.. as when I'm in college, I write down the steps as I do them. so I've no need to remember off by heart. But that's pretty much the gist of it... Just experiment with the blending, change the colours and saturation afterwards and you can come up with some really nice effects.

Just to point out.. the black bit just to the right of the hitman text, is Hitman's shoulder from the first screenshot.. if you can work it out. With the red bar that the text is sitting in being one of the beams of light/pillars/whatever it is, next to him..

Damn. That must be an effort, alone. When I make stuff for myself...I change things over and over until I see something that I like. Writing all that down would take me forever. I can't even imagine trying it.

It does take an age to do, but when doing my graphics work I don't use anywhere near as many filters and effects. Most of it is either drawn in Illustrator or drawn freehand then scanned in. A lot of painting, inkwork and such as well. So it's easy to keep track of.

Do you draw with the mouse? I'd have to either scan it in, then trace it, or use one of those drawing pads.

The blending and effects are amazing. Even in ten years, I doubt that I'd be able to do such awesome work. I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to try and follow some of those steps that you gave to D-L. 10/10.

With the mouse.. but using the pen tool in illustrator. It's nothing like drawing freehand though.. I actually hate drawing myself, I prefer to use Illustrator. It's mostly for vector work to be honest.
