I was damn sure that this thread already existed but a quick sort of all threads didn't show anything. So, I was watching that video Kraul linked to of the ring exploding after a superplex (see the video thread), and thought it'd be cool to start a thread about what the biggest 'holy shit!' moments were in wrestling history, for you. So? What are they eh? |

Despite what some may think of the match itself, I still find Foley's falls over and through the cage to be quite breathtaking. As is Edge's spear on Jeff Hardy off the top of the ladder during the X-7 TLC match. Angle suplexing Shane McMahon through the glass was also quite brutal. These are probably some of the more well known and obvious ones that had stuck in my mind the most. I could probably name a whole bunch of others. In fact I might post a few of them in the video thread. |

Spot-wise (as in not the appearence of someone or what some said)? Hmm. That superplex is up there. I also reacted pretty much the same way when I saw Shane McMahon jump from the top of the set the first time. I can't remember if he was facing Big Show or if the Big Show brawl was the second (I can't remember the other one). All the padding took away from it a lot, but the actual height of the fall and the fact that I never thought I'd see someone do that was what got me out of my seat. When I first saw it, the first TLC match (Dudleys vs E&C vs Hardys at SummerSlam 2000) was one big "holy shit" moment. The Cactus Jack fall through the Cell that broke the ring, however kayfabe it was, was pretty damn awesome the first few times seeing it. Another moment is one that I can barely remember, but the APA were in the ring and the ropes broke. I'm pretty sure it was legit, too. I just love when the ring breaks in various ways on rare occasion. |

Yokozuna broke the ropes once didn't he? Anyway, time for my picks I guess. Rattling these off the top of my head.
Moar as I think of them I guess. |

I had my heart in my mouth when that happened to Jericho as he performed the Lionsault during the tag match at No Mercy 02. That could've easily gone so wrong and possibly have ended his career. I'm glad it didn't.
I showed that match to my grandparents when they asked me the same thing. They were quite stunned as well and quickly withdrew there "fake" comment. Now they just say "I don't understand how you can watch that violent trash". Strangely enough though, they use to enjoy watching the AWF back in the day. |

Really? Nobody's said Hogan lifting Andre?! Come on people, you're all dropping the ball. Look over there, it's you ... dropping the ball. |

Hogan bodyslamming Andre was a moment I never experienced outside of repeated flashbacks. I was a huge Hulkamaniac in the late 80s, but that was after that slam. And it wasn't until 1999/2000 that I started to care about wrestling history rather than the then present. By that time, that slam meant little. It was a milestone, but I had/have absolutely no attatchment to that moment among others that were "holy shit" worthy (like Michaels getting knocked out by Tyson at WrestleMania XIV) because I simply didn't experience them fully. |

At a recent TNA PPV (I forgot the name of it), Angle hit a 450 knee drop on Nash. Before he even hit the move, he stumbled on the top rope, which made it look like he was going to botch it. In the end, he nailed it perfectly and I was in complete awe. |

Most people on here weren't born then. Seriously, most people here only saw that on tape and didn't experience it when it happened. For a moment like that, you needed to be a part of it to really get the "Holy Shit!" vibe from it.

When Brock Lesnar superplexed the Big Show off the top rope and broke the friggin' ring on SmackDown!, that was a huge "Holy Shit!" moment for me. I think one of the biggest has to be Hulk Hogan turning heel and joining the nWo. Nobody expected it and the fans reaction was just great. Mean Gene got hit in the head with a beer can! It was just a truly "Holy Shit!/What the Fuck!?" moment. Also, the Kat dropping her top at Armageddon '99 and exposing her breasts was a pretty big deal. I remember too when the Ultimate Warrior went over Hulk Hogan cleanly at WM6...that was just ridiculous right there. Let's see.... The Dudley Boyz powerbombing Mae Young through a table...Kurt Angle's moonsault off the top of a steel cage...Rey Mysterio winning the World Heavyweight Championship (I marked out HUGE for that)... There's a lot more but that's what I got for now. |

That reminds me...Benoit winning the Royal Rumble and making HHH tap out at WM were both "Holy Shit" moments for me because he was the guy that never got to win the big match. |

One "Holy Shit" match was I believe at No Mercy a few years back, JBL Vs Big Show in a Steel Caged- Barbed Wire Match. Big Show chokeslammed JBL through the ring, and JBL crawled out the bottom of the ring to keep his title. I was stunned and going crazy once the ring broke The Orton being destroyed by Evolution angle really got me going as well. I go crazy for those kind of moments, even if it is something like that. A huge "Holy Shit" moment for me, was at Wrestle Mania 23, Jeff Hardy was standing up on the ladder inside the ring, and Edge was lying on a ladder that was being held up by the ring and the barricade. Hardy jumped off and Leg Dropped Edge on the ladder. I didn't expect that one bit, it was crazy as hell when I saw it. The Joey Mercury accident, it looked nasty for reals. I saw him get his face smashed like that and I got off my chair and was in awe. Ladder matches are usually guaranteed for Holy Shit moments at one point at another. |

Whenever John Cena FU's huge guy's like Khali,Big Daddy V, and Big Show I always find myself screming Holy Shit. I also saw ( on the internet) Yokozuna was vsing a jobber and he went on the top rope to do his finisher where he jumps off and lands on his opponets stomache when he did the finisher on the jobber he did'nt even land on his feet then fall on the guy to stop his momentum he just jumped off the top right onto the guy with a ton of momentum and he was about 600 lbs. I had some others but they were already talked about I'll post some more soon. |

The win over Triple H would be one of mine, too, I suppose. I think I may have been into that match more than any other match since Hogan vs Rock. I wanted Benoit to win so badly and when he did, I had probably my most favorite WrestleMania moment of all-time. I very much doubt anything will ever top that in terms of excitement and emotion. |

A few unmentioned "Holy Shit" moments: --When Stone Cold broke into Brian Pillman's house and Brian had a gun threatening to shoot Austin. --When Stone Cold flipped off Mike Tyson, Tyson shoved Austin, and the two had to be kept separate. I remember people actually debating what would happen if those two went at it, and oddly enough, most people at the time picked Austin to kick Tyson's ass. --When Vince called for the bell to be rung when HBK had Bret Hart in the sharpshooter at Survivor Series 1997. --Watching on the news that Owen Hart died during a wrestling PPV. Maybe not the same "holy shit" moment you guys may have been thinking of, but a "holy shit" moment for sure. --Hearing that Eddie passed so quickly and so unexpectedly. --The crowd reaction during the Rock vs Hogan match from WM. --Austin driving a beer truck to the Raw ring (the first time). --When Sable ripped off her shirt to reveal her naked breasts that were covered by nothing more than handpaint (and that nipple tape that we aren't suppose to know about). |

When I tuned into Raw and saw that Benoit had died. In ECW, when New Jack dove off the 2nd story baloney onto Mustafa and put him through a table. |

That was a "holy shit/I must be misunderstanding something because there is noway this is true" moment for me. I'll never forget that moment especially since I was blissfully unaware that Benoit was dead seconds earlier as I wrestled against him on SmackDown vs Raw 2007. Going from "yeah, Benoit is phenomenal" to "I can't believe it's over" within a probably 60 second period was...indescribable. |

Nobody has mentioned 2007 Holy Shit moments... One of them was during the New Breed vs ECW Originals (Extreme Rules, the episode after WM23), at the ending of the match when Elijah Burke did the Elijah Express on Sabu, who went through a table, skull first. That spot looked pretty wicked. I expected to read a report about Sabu's head getting injured. Gail Kim's Moonsault on Lockdown 2007 was another one to one. From the first ROH PPV, Matt Sydal doing a hurricanrrana to escape a powerbomb from one of the Briscoes (Jay, I think) and made it into a pin. The move looked pretty fast. And from the Ladder War between Briscoes vs Steenerico, the holy shit spot was with the springboard doomsday device underneath the big red ladder. |

that is one of the biggest "Holy Shit" moments of my life. that was one of those things that i NEVER would've expected. my old man & brother were watching with me, when it aired. i think my dad was the most shocked, which is ironic since he's never been much of a fan of wrestling, to begin with. only saw enough to know who a few key people were. |

Benoit's death shocked me, but the Eddie death truely impacted me when I heard of his death. I woke up, my dad came in crying since he loved him as a wrestler and how he was as a person, telling me that Eddie had passed. At first I didn't believe him, than I heard it on the radio on my way to school, I was truely hurt that day. Than they even started showing Eddie's moments on the news since it was a big thing here in Texas. The Raw tribute literally sent me into tears, and I mean I cryed my ass off watching those tributes and videos. That was the biggest, 'Holy Shit' moment to me outside of something that happened in the ring. |

During Summerslam 2001, I remember there was a triple threat match between Kurt, HHH, and The Rock for the Belt, during the whole Stephanie feud. Kurt and HHH were gonig at it, and HHH went to go get a sledge hammer, then all of a sudden... "If you Smell...!" I was pumped. There were a few other good moments there too. If you guys remember, that was Steve Blackman's Elbow drop off of the Summerslam Titan Tron. Also, teh host to the first ever TLC match, which saw Bubba Ray Dudly on top of a twenty foot ladder in the ring, then being shoved from it through 4 talbes to teh outside, Jeff Hardy's missed swanton through a couple tables. Undertaker ripping Kane's mask off. Pretty good holy shit event. Eddie's death didn't really affect me too much. I had an inklink that he was on steroids, and expected some type of cardio problem, eventually. plus, I was never a big fan of his. Benoit's just got me wondering what the hell was going on. |

It also had Kurt getting knocked loopy from a botched Pedigree on the announce table spot. That wasn't a "holy shit" moment then, but it is now that I realise what happened. |

A few more "Holy Shit" moments for me: --When Jeff Hardy beat Triple H for the IC Title on Raw several years back. --When Shelton Benjamin beat Triple H on Raw (the first time) after he was drafted to Raw. --Kurt Angle missing a moonsault off the top of a steel cage. --Mr. McMahon's limo exploding (the storyline that followed was crap, but that initial exploding was helluva "Holy Shit") More later... |

I remember Rikishi doing a body splash onto Val Venis (during his "wear white and come out with Trish" phase) from the top of a steel cage corner like a modern day Snuka got a pretty good "holy shit!" like reaction out of me at the time. |

Not it was a "Holy Shit! Rewind that so I can watch it again" moment. There was absolutely no way to expect anything like that before it happened. It was definitely a shocking "holy shit" moment. The angle that followed was crap, but Vince closing his limo door and it exploding immediately afterwards was great. |
