STAY HYPED!!!
|
Kurt Angle -- A legitimate Olympic Gold Medalist, a former 6 time WWE World Heavyweight Champion, one of WWE's premiere and headlining acts since 2001, a proven merchandise mover, and arguably (undeniably) the greatest active wrestler in the world today. These were Kurt Angle's stats before he jumped to TNA in 2006. His jump from WWE to TNA could have started a movement for TNA that could have really put it on the wrestling map. It most likely wouldn't have made TNA the number one company in the U.S., but (if handled right) could have opened a lot of new doors for TNA. However, TNA has managed to squander this opportunity. Oh, sure, they are smart enough to make Kurt Angle their world champion, and foolish enough to over-expose him by having him in nearly every segment, but Angle's move to TNA didn't generate anywhere near as much hype and excitement as it could have. So I am going to take it upon myself to re-book Kurt Angle's TNA debut and initial (main) storyline and do it in a way that would not only entertain me, as a fan, but get me really talking about the TNA product. But before I venture into my "fantasy booking", I need to set up some basic parameters for this series of installments: 1) It will be set in today's TNA storylines. I don't remember, at least not offhand, all the storylines that were happening in TNA when Angle did debut and I'm sure most everyone here doesn't either. I could look them up and that would most likely jog my memory. But I think this would go over better if I just based this storyline on many of the storylines that are currently happening in TNA. 2) I recognize that some of the stuff I write throughout this series couldn't plausibly happen. Egos and politics would get in the way and it just wouldn't happen. But that's ok. This is fantasy booking, so I can venture into implausible territory. 3) Even though I stated that most of this series will be taking place in the present day TNA, some of the things mentioned will be past tense. Once again, this is fantasy booking so I can blend past and present if I want to. ![]() 4) This will be covered as a series. Each entry (thread) will cover as much time as I choose. The first installment (what you are about to read) will be short prelude to this ongoing storyline and will only cover the point where Angle leaves WWE and up to his debut in TNA. It will basically lay the foundation for everything that follows. The second installment (which should be posted later in the week) will cover Angle's actual debut in TNA. And so forth and so on. What I'm getting at is that an entry can cover as little time as one promo or as much time as a few months. 5)I have this entire storyline worked out in my head, but am typing it as I go. If there is a delay in-between episodes, then it's because I have writer's block (or just don't have the time). 6) Feedback is always welcomed. TNAngle - Episode I In a shocking development, WWE recently announced that Kurt Angle has been released from his multi-year contract. WWE states that the door is open for Angle to return once Angle gets his health issues in check. Kurt Angle's representatives release a statement that Angle is interested in jumping from professional wrestling to mixed martial arts. Kurt Angle is rumored to be talking with UFC, Pride, and other MMA companies about the possibility of joining each company. Dixie Carter states in a radio interview that TNA has signed their biggest name superstar to date and he will be debuting at Bound For Glory. In order to keep this signing a secret, absolutely no one in TNA will know the identity of the new signee. Only Carter and the new TNA superstar will know. Since TNA Wrestling doesn't publicly recognize Dixie Carter as the owner of the company, Mike Tenay and Don West just state that "managment" has hired the biggest name in TNA history and the person will debut at Bound For Glory. TNAWrestling.com puts up a splash screen stating that the biggest name in TNA history will debut at Bound For Glory. During the weeks prior to BFG, TNA airs montages that hype the debut of the unknown superstar. JB and that blond girl play their part by casually asking if the person they are interviewing knows who is coming to TNA. Superstars will react differently according to their character. Some will be excited by their return, some will be paranoid about their place, others will brush it off stating that they are the biggest name in TNA and that no one else can compare. The weeks prior to Bound For Glory will establish that their is a new name coming to TNA and that TNA is buzzing with anticipation. No one knows (literally) who is coming, but everyone is waiting. That'll do it for the first episode of this series. Nothing to exciting at this point, but it's just laying the foundation for what is yet to come. As you can see, not much is different from how TNA actually handled Angle's debut. That's because, to their credit, TNA did handle Angle's debut really well. It's everything after his debut that they messed up. And, for the record, I know that TNA announced they signed Angle at the PPV prior to Bound For Glory, but, again, this is fantasy booking so I changed things to fit into my gameplan. Episode II will be up in a few days. Things will get much more interesting and become much more "fantasy booking" starting with Episode II. Yes. |

STAY HYPED!!!

I like it when people say nice things to me as much as the next guy does, but I really haven't done anything creative yet. I've just explained the series and literally re-capped everything that actually happened before Angle debuted in TNA.
