Nigels frustration

Nigel McGuinness has experienced frustration after frustration since he won the ROH World Title on October 5th. Now the frustration has been replaced with doubt.

McGuinness vs. then ROH World Champion Takeshi Morishima at ROH "Undeniable" was so hard-hitting that Nigel actually did damage to his own biceps when he landed his trademark lariats on Morishima's massive frame. The repeated force of the impact put Nigel's left biceps on the verge of a tear. It was only a week or so later that they tore.

McGuinness opted to let the biceps heal without surgery. It was the only way he wouldn't have to vacate the ROH World Title, which he had basically sacrificed his biceps for. ROH officials agreed to limit his activity to let the biceps heal instead of stripping him of the Title. There was still a chance they would tear even more making surgery and vacating the World Title mandatory.

McGuinness felt the frustration of not being able to compete on some of ROH's biggest shows. It hurt his pride that he was not able to be in a position to represent the company as World Champion. However, he fought through the mental anguish and physical pain to rehab his left biceps. Then those on the ROH roster added to his frustration.

Nigel quickly found out that being World Champion makes you a target. In fact, disrespect couldn't have come any faster. Every wrestler dreams of the moment when they are announced as "NEW World Champion" and Bryan Danielson took that moment away from Nigel. Danielson had the nerve to get in McGuinness' face during his victory celebration as ring announcer Bobby Cruise bellowed those words (see this in the 10/12/07 ROH Video Wire at ROHvideos.com). Danielson has gone on to take cheap shots on Nigel's arm on two occasions (see the latest in the newest ROH Video Wire). There is no doubt that Danielson has maliciously gone after Nigel.

FIP World Champion Roderick Strong didn't hesitate to crash Nigel's party either. It is tradition in ROH for the new World Champion to open the show following his Title win with a promo. Strong took it upon himself to use this time to tell the world that he has proved more as FIP World Champion than Nigel has as ROH World Champion. Strong proclaimed himself the better champion during Nigel's moment. There is little doubt that this will be a true clash of champions.

Chris Hero with Larry Sweeney, Tank Toland, Sara Del Rey & Bobby Dempsey added to the frustration. We'll let you watch what happened in Philadelphia on 11/2/07 for yourself on the "Glory By Honor VI: Night 1" DVD. Hero intensified the issue by jumping Nigel and hitting him with the Hero's Welcome in both Dayton on 11/30 and Chicago on 12/1. McGuinness vs. Hero has been signed for 1/25 in Dayton. If Nigel is still World Champion he will put the belt on the line. You cannot doubt the fact that McGuinness wants to get his hands on Hero.

Former ROH World Champion Austin Aries is the only one that came after McGuinness with a little respect. Aries challenged McGuinness on 11/3/07 at "Glory By Honor VI: Night 2" in Manhattan. This will be posted soon on ROHvideos.com. Aries is looking to make Nigel's reign a short one. Aries will be Nigel's next challenger. They will meet in the main event of ROH's 5th pay-per-view, which will be taped on 12/29 in Manhattan. There is absolutely no doubt that Aries could be the first two-time ROH World Champion.

As if Nigel wasn't being bombarded from all fronts, Takeshi Morishima wants his rematch. Negotiations are taking place now. Can anyone really doubt that Morishima deserves a rematch? This is already a huge workload for McGuinness. Will he be able to handle it?

Nigel doesn't hesitate to answer "yes." As ROH's 5th PPV taping and "Final Battle 2007" approach on December 29th & 30th in Manhattan, McGuinness reports that his biceps are healing up better than expected and he is virtually pain free. He is also training to hit the lariat with his right arm. McGuinness has also developed a painful arm submission, which is quickly gaining the attention of the ROH locker room. Jay Briscoe isn't ashamed to say how potent the new armlock is and Bryan Danielson wanted no part of it after Nigel applied it to him in Las Vegas. Nigel has also increased his cardio training. He will continue to work with an arm specialist. McGuinness is making all the right moves to secure a long World Title reign.

However, after talking with Nigel you can tell that there is a little doubt in his mind. There is something that is eating away from him. There is a moment he keeps anticipating. McGuinness is wondering what will happen the next time he slingshots off the ropes and uses momentum to club his opponent with a vicious Jawbreaker Lariat. Will his left biceps hold up? Will it tear completely off his arm? Will Nigel be able to execute his most potent weapon again without fear?

Right now McGuinness is focused on Aries. He cannot look past his next defense. Afterall, he is only one faulty move away from feeling the greatest frustration of it all- losing the ROH World Title.

Stand Back! There's a Hurricane Coming Through
They better no put the belt back on Takeshi Morishima. Aries or Danielson would make much better champions at this point if Nigel is going to lose the title.

By the sound of it, Nigel needs some time to recover. With that being said, I expect him to drop the belt to Aries at the next PPV.

It's a fabulous new day, yes it is!
Right after reading that article, I think Nigel will job to Aries. Also, I think every title change that happens in ROH will take place on the PPV tapings. Yep.
