I'm looking forward today's traditional New Year's meal of collard greens, black eyed peas, and cornbread. I even made a homemade banana pudding for the occasion. I made it yesterday morning and put it in the fridge so it can be nice and chilled for today. You have no idea how hard it has been not to attack it. The last banana pudding I made was literally gone within a matter of hours. Eaten all up. |

I went to a New Years party that could've been great, but I turned it into something much worse. When I first got to the party, I played Call of Duty 3 with my cousins (Roger and Nick) and his friend. Roger teamed up with me, while Nick teamed up with his friend. They basically beat our asses in the first few times, but we came back and almost beat them on the third game. As we continued playing, I noticed that a couple more guests entered the room. I glanced over to see if they were anyone I knew. Two very attractive girls that looked a little older than me started talking to my cousin. I figured that if I looked at them again, then they'd think that I liked them. One of them took a seat next to my cousin and out of all the other places in the room that she could've went to, she sat next to me. Again, I was tempted to look, but I didn't want to blow my cover. When we finished playing PS3, one of my other cousins started a game of Apples to Apples. Everyone else had a seat, but I refused to sit down because I wanted to try and get a better look at the girls. By this time, I realized that one of the girls was much older than me (probably 18 or even 19). The other one, on the other hand, could've been from 15-17. Now, at this time, I realized that I could take advantage of the game situation. Basically, Apples to Apples is a game in which someone draws an adjective and you have to pick from your selected cards the person, place, thing, ect that best matches it. The first category was "soft", so I tried picking something funny from the cards that I had. I chose "Martha Stewart" and I got several laughs from it. The younger girl laughed nearly every time when I chose my card, even when it wasn't funny. I was tempted to start talking to her more, but I just couldn't. That's who I am. I'm too fucking timid. My parents insisted on going home before the ball dropped because they didn't want to get on the road with a bunch of drunks. I didn't want to leave because I wanted to see more of this girl, but of course, my father's word overrules ours. As I was saying good-bye to everyone, I noticed that both girls hugged and kissed my mother. That got me even more curious because at that time, I realized that may have had a possible connection with me. When we got in the car, the first thing my dad said "Did you talk to Bill's kids?" Here, I'm thinking, who the hell's Bill's kids? Then, I came to the conclusion that "Bill's kids" were the two girls I was looking at the entire night. I just told him "No, I was playing with Roger, Nick and his friend the whole night", which was basically the truth. Then, my mom kept going on with it, "Oh, but they're so cute. Did you remember when you used to play with Janelle when you were younger?" That's when it hit me. I did remember playing with her briefly and I liked her then, too. My mom also brought up that we were both the same age, which made me even more interested than I was before. Overall, if I wasn't such a timid son of a bitch, I could've probably had made great friends (if you know what I mean) with this girl. I had her laughing the whole time and I even caught her talking to Roger's cousin and my sister for a good portion of the time that we were there. The next time I'll see her will probably be in another year, on New Years Eve. That is, if we even go to my uncle's house next year. She'll always be on the back of my mind now and I'll always have this guilty feeling that I should've talked to her more. |

I'm already familiar with the girl, it's not like I'm oblivious as to who she is and I just think that she's attractive. I'm not sure how I'd start the conversation, that's all. |

Heh. At this point I thought you were heading into the direction of these two people being your cousin or something. You're a good writer, btw.
