I think it's to do the fact that a substantial amount of money is usually spent on these displays where as it could've been more beneficial to have used that money on something like healthcare or education.

Even though I kind of enjoy watching them, I do agree.

No. I think that putting money towards cultural events is pretty important and whatever. My issue is with the pollution. Especially in this day and age.
