I knew I spoke too soon. The Initial Set-up popped up yet again and completely wiped out all my record settings. What is the point of having a DVD-R if it doesn't fucking record anything?!

It's good for making you spend money on a shrink...

Don't worry, I've been to the point where I wanted to throw one at a wall. But I got a different one and it worked just fine.

But this one was on sale and a different one would cost three times what I paid for this one.

The one I got from Radio Shack was only around $120 if I'm not mistaken. Of course that was on sale as well, so... :P

Wait... I don't know if it's a typo or not, but it lists the DVD Recorder I bought for $120 as $9.97 on the site. Yeah...

Mine was $48 before taxes. The next cheapest one is $150. :(

How much is it at its regular price?

It was $98 at regular price. Still pretty cheap for a DVD Recorder. Everything else is perfect about. It just keeps going back to the initial set up for some strange reason. I've read various reviews about the model, and I have yet to see anyone else mention this problem. I only have about a week left that I can return the item (15 day limit on electronics). I really need to borrow a phone or something so I can call that help number.

Stand Back! There's a Hurricane Coming Through
Here is something that is pissing me off, that my recorder does. When I stop recording a show, it write the info to the disc. now, it freezes at 60%. I can't do anything but unplug the machine and plug it back in. Then it goes into repair mode. It saves the data if it can. Usually, I have to record 5 mins longer than I want to so that the data it loses won't be the show I was recording. This is a Magnovox DVD Recorder also. I have read of other people having this problem, but no one has a solution. I now think that Magnovox is just a piece of shit.

I've noticed that the "Initial Settings" page only pops up if I try to set up a recording. If I watch a DVD or have the power off for a while, then the machine turns on and off as normal. If I program a recording or if I hit the record button and press it to only record for so long, then the "Initial settings" comes up. As annoying as this can be, I think I'm just going to live with it. I'm too cheap to pay three times as much for a DVD-Recorder. I guess I'll just live without the record setting option and just press the record button whenever I want to record something. Each disc can record 6 hours of programming, and I got like 20 (RW) discs in the pack. I think it'll work out until another unit goes on sale. Damn, I'm cheap.

Mutha Fu**a I'm ill.
I had an Magnovox recorder also... After about 3 months or so, it just stopped working all together. I had to pop the DVD I had out with some tool because it just got stuck, it was a recordable DVD but I didn't know if anything was on it or not. The thing was already dead anyway, and I tried fixing it for like 2 weeks (Every other day or so) and after that point I just said Fuck it.

Yeah Magnovox just sucks ass.
