Explain your answers. Not living in the US where all the [subjects-in-question] live, I don't know how offensive it is. Personally, unless it's used in an offensive manner as if you're looking down on someone with hate, malice or spite, then I have no problem with it. If one uses it as a friendly term of endearment, then I don't see any problem with it either. Essentially, I guess this is a poll to see if anyone can't stand the word in ANY situation. So yeah, discuss!

I was going to type something long-winded, but that sums up my answer lol.

My black friends don't find it offensive when I say it, but I'm not meaning it offensive ways.

So you're both black. If I were to call you nigga, you know, in a jovial and friendly way, then there'd be no problem right?

Not that I'm going to. Sometimes I see points in the thunderdome when I could say it in a purposefully offensive manner (like everything else I say in the thunderdome), but I don't because I wasn't aware of how offensive that would be. Also, I said it once before and Cybrus warned me. :(

Calling a black dude nigga is like calling a Mexican a beaner, an Asian a chink, a Muslim a terrorist, or calling a white dude a cracker.

But none of those terms has entered common vocabulary, nor have any of those terms become obsolete like 'nigga' has.

As an occassional joke, it's fine. My black friend's MySpace display name was "Tha Darkest Nigga in Ma Town" and most of my other friends got a good laugh out of it. However, if I went up to him and said something like this baby did, he'd probably drill me in the mouth.

Nah. Just to give an example, one of my good friends (who's white) I call him a nigga some of the time and he calls me the same thing, it's all in a joking manner.

So expect me to call you a nigga, Jim

Yeah, me and my White friend call eachother nigga all the time, not meaning any offence.

We got black people around this place who joke around and call us Nigga, and in turn, we call them Cracka, no harm done.

To be honest hearing the word nigga shouldn't be used at all becuase it cause nothing but drama. Other than that If someone called me a nigga and he or she was a different race. I wouldn't be offended.

Quiet Homeslice.

Now Chaingang, you are seriously Black, and no offence to you, but this conversation is interesting, but knowing how different races see this issue, we get the whole picture.

No offence to anyone with that comment if people do get offended.

I don't see a problem if you're joking or anything but when some say that "other" people can't use it because they feel they should then it's hypocritical for them to do so.

I believe I once heard Method Man (even though I'm a fan) saying that white people have no right using the word, but it's okay for "his" people to do so. :-/

Alot of my black friends always are like "what up nigga". :) Hell I grew up right by the bad parts of DC so yeah....

As long as you don't add those other two letters then it's cool.

Speaking as a black person who didn't grow up during the civil rights movement, I'm not particularly offended by the phrase. I think it's insanely stupid that the word has become such a big part of Urban Culture, but I'll admit I do end up laughing when certain comedians use the term, or that episode of South Park.

This thread gives me permission to use it as often as I like, since it's no longer a racist term according to the member base of this website. :)
