Just seeing if anyone has a theory on why when we have new people post for a good while leave? I know everyone has obligations but when it seems like we have a person who is comes around, shares their insights with us for a couple, maybe more months, they just dip out and probably post here and there but not as much. |

I've done it countless times. Mainly because they get bored with the site, or because there's nothing new on offer, or because the members aren't stimulating enough. That's if they're anything like me, heh. |

Yeah, I've quit twice. One of the times is right now, I'm just posting occasionally. Failing like very class is a hell of a distraction, but last year I stopped because of track. I really think people quit because they get bored or find something more interesting at the time |

Another potential reason that hasn't been brought up yet is that it can be very difficult being completely new in an online community (or any community for that matter). Sometimes it can seem like an impossible task to find a spot amidst the established posters and cliques on a board, especially since most people seem to naturally favor talking to those they already know whether they mean to or not. In other words, it can be one hell of a challenge standing out and getting more than just a passing attention for some. Sometimes it just doesn't seem worth the effort, so it's decided to leave or just cut back on activity - both of which pretty much cement your place in ambiguity unless you decide to put in more effort. I know it's been that way for me on most boards. |

I don't really see any cliques at this site, though. All three E-Staff pretty much hate each other (
) so we're not a clique. We have a bunch of loners at this site as well, (some pun intended) so they're obviously not in cliques. And that makkes up half the community right there.

I leave a lot of forums because I simply forget about them or I just lose interest in the overall theme of the board. However, there's some, like 6SW, that just never get old. As for 6SW, I won't be leaving until the place gets shut down or if I come to the decision to stop posting on forums, altogether (which could happen soon, actually).

No Computer at home + Working most days after school = lack of activity for my part. |

in my case, i just get bored from time to time. if i get bored around here, i'll simply disappear for awhile. since i like the site, i like to come back to see if anything interesting is happening. |
