I think a there are two big factors for that: 1. Limited pay-per-view outlets. For example, DirecTV is really dominant in satellite television yet they don't have a deal with them for PPVs (if they do, it's news to me). That cuts out a lot of fans that would order the PPVs - me included. 2. No national TV show. I know that a national TV show isn't a "magic cure", but it certainly can't hurt and it would certainly help get them out there to potential fans. TNA was able to get started with PPVs first, but they were in a unique situation when the wrestling scene was a lot more hopeless and barren. So it was a lot easier to get people interested in paying for PPVs to see them than it would be for anyone now.
Honestly, I think WWE and ROH could work together very well without ever really having to work together. I see ROH as being what ECW was in the 90s. Not everyone liked it and it remained on a lower level for it's entire run, but it was very influentual on the wrestling business and spawned a lot of talent the other two companies loved to grab up. Same thing seems to be happening again. TNA is a little more inspired by ROH than WWE, but it's noticeable in both companies. I like Gabe. I think he's probably the best single person in wrestling since Paul Heyman. He's very smart on creative and especially booking decisions. |

RoH needs to get a TV deal. I'm not talking National (although it would be nice), but find some outlet for a weekly TV show. NWA is on Colours every week. If you don't have DISH, you don't see it. It's also in the 9000's in the channels, but they have a show. ECW back in the day, was on MSG at like 2 am, but they had a show and it got out there. RoH should find any station willing to put them on and take it. If the ratings are good enough, they will advance in the TV markets. Build a TV audience like they did the DVD audience. |
