Randy Orton has reigned as WWE Champion since October 2007. Nonetheless, his victory in the Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania XXIV over John Cena and Triple H was nothing if not surprising.

Pundits had dismissed his chances of emerging victorious as less than 1-in-5. Yet there he was on Raw last Monday night holding the title aloft for all to see. While there’s little doubt that both Cena and The Game have designs to recapture the gold from the Legend Killer, Orton also seems to have picked up another two more possible contenders for the throne: JBL and a resurgent Matt Hardy.

JBL confronted the reigning WWE Champion and, in typical Layfield fashion, made no bones about his intentions to gun for the title. For his part, Hardy returned to Raw last Monday seeking revenge for a punt to the head that Orton delivered to him shortly after his appendix surgery. In a match between Orton and Hardy, the Legend Killer came out on top that night, but it’s unlikely that anyone has heard the last of Hardy.

Can Orton really fend off every Superstar he has gunning for him? Is the “Age of Orton” on borrowed time?

And how exactly will Shawn Michaels respond after the roller coaster ride of emotion he’s been on recently? First, he ends the career of his dear friend, Ric Flair, at WrestleMania, then, the following night, Flair forgives him for sending him into retirement.

Exactly how spent is The Showstopper, and how much will it affect him in the ring?

In other Raw action, Santino Marella just can’t seem to let go of his ex-girlfriend, Maria. The Italian Stallion felt the need last Monday night to challenge Maria to an Anything Goes Match, thinking he could exact some measure of revenge for their split. Unfortunately for Marella, the Playboy cover girl was fueled by anger, and with the rest of WWE’s gorgeous Divas fueled by Santino’s big mouth, it was the Italian export who found himself on the losing end of a bunny beat down.

After suffering the ultimate humiliation at the manicured hands of Maria and the Divas, have we heard the last of the jealous ex, or will the Italian Stallion be back for more?

Wrestling News World is able to confirm that Batista and Ron Killings have both arrived at the Times Union Center in Albany, New York for tonight's edition of Raw. Other notable names that have arrived include Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Vince McMahon, Chris Jericho Cryme Tyme, Umaga, Carlito, Jim Duggan, Rory McAllister, and Lilian Garcia.

This could mean one of two things for Killings in that he could be getting a dark match or he could make his debut/return.

Third member of Cryme Tyme maybe?

Possible. It could be a reason for them bringing them back besides the Carlito incident.

Stand Back! There's a Hurricane Coming Through
I like the set up that HBK and Batista are getting. When HBK retired Flair ( to end that storyline ) they had to use it to develop the next thing. HBK vs Batista is going to be interesting to watch. I do, however, see that the crowd is going to force Batista into the heel role. That should be good to see as he was better as a heel.

By the way, did anyone else see the sign that said "You Can't See Me" but had a picture of Brock Lesnar on it? I thought it was funny.

That's the best thing that could happen to Batista, I think. He's always been a better heel.

I have to say that out of all the current feuds that I know of at the moment, Michaels vs Batista is probably the most interesting. I want to know what Batista has set into motion because he left it off with something like "I already did" or whatever.

Some things from Raw you didn't see.

Quote:

Ron Killings b. Robbie McAllister
I was told that Killings came out to his old TNA theme music and used his same style/gimmick. He defeated Robbie following his ax-kick finisher.

Heat:

Cryme Tyme b. The Logan Brothers Matt & Brian (From Boston) in a total squash match.

"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan b. Charlie Haas
- Duggan won with a running clothesline. I was told they gave the match too much time and many fans began a "boring" chant.

Gene Snitsky b. Super Crazy

Paul Burchill (w/Katie) comes out and cuts a promo. He calls out DH Smith. That brings us to our Heat main event...

Paul Burchill b. DH Smith

Ron Killings was said to be very over with the crowd and very impressive in the ring.

Despite reports of possibly dropping the incest angle, it returned last night with Paul Burchill, with his "sister" Katie Lea, taking on DH Smith.

Lillian Garcia incorrectly announced Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch as winners of their match. London and Kendrick chewed her out afterwards. (I didn't even notice this last night.)

The crowd was definitely mixed for Cena. You could distinctly hear the high voices of women and kids cheering and the low voices of the males booing.

During the Highlight Reel segment, the crowd was said to be solidly behind HBK and booing Batista.

After RAW went off the air, Orton and JBL attacked Cena as Triple H was walking up the ramp. Eventually Triple H came back and chased them off with a chair. Triple H teased hitting Cena with the chair but tossed it away which brought boos from the crowd. With a shrug Triple H re-entered the ring and gave Cena a pedigree. When Cena recovered he spent several minutes talking to the crowd mostly kissing up and saying how they had the guts to show up to tell him he sucks. Typical Cena jive.

Anytime another wretler is over with the crowd usually is a good thing right? Guess we'll see if he makes an official debut soon or not.

WTF?

He wrote his entrance theme, himself, so it should be alright if he uses it, as far as legal issues go.

Last night's edition of WWE RAW drew a 3.3 rating, a substantial drop from last week's show. The first hour drew a 3.15 rating and the second hour drew a 3.48 rating.

This week's number dropped 18 percent among men 18-49 and all people 18-49. The show had an average audience of 4.7 million people.

The substantial drop in viewership can be attributed almost entirely to last night's NCAA Men's Basketball Finals.

I watched it just then, and was totally impressed. That was one of the best RAW episodes I've seen in ages. Really makes me want to see Backlash. Batista and HBK (mainly HBK) were amazing.
