Shimla, April 10: The Great Khali, the famous World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) grappler, is taking a break and returning to his native village in Himachal Pradesh later this month after some twenty months of hard wrestling, his family said Thursday.

When Dalip Singh Rana, 35, the tallest WWE wrestler at 7 feet 3 inches (217.5 cm) and weighing 190 kg, returns to his Dhiriana village in mountainous Sirmaur district, some 150 km from here, he will find his home transformed.

His younger brother Inder Singh is giving final touches to their brand new modern house, which has been built in place of a once modest traditional wooden Himalayan house.

"Dalip will land in India on April 26 but will first report at his Punjab police office in Jalandhar. He will reach home (his village in Himachal) a couple of days later," said Inder Singh.

"He is expected to stay in the village for at least a month. All the family members and villagers are eagerly awaiting his arrival for the first time after he joined WWE," he said.

Rana - who took on the name 'The Great Khali' when he began his wrestling career with WWE - was born in abject poverty and worked as a roadside labourer and porter before the Punjab Police gave him a job. A sub inspector in the police force, he is on long leave to allow him fight in WWE.

Once in Punjab Police, Rana took to bodybuilding and won the Mr. India title in 1995 and 1996. He later also acted in a Hollywood film, "The Longest Yard".

He is married to Harminder Kaur whom he met in Punjab.

The Great Khali has been a WWE world heavyweight champion and has fought all top wrestlers in the WWE circuit, including the legendary 'Undertaker' several times.

Rana's daily training schedule consists of two hours of weight training, morning and evening.

Maintaining his giant size requires a strict and intimidating dietary regimen: one gallon of milk, five chickens and two dozen eggs, along with chapatis, juice and fruit daily.

So what does this leave Show to do?

I'm expecting Khali will pull a Matt Hardy and attack his [new] rival suprisingly when he gets back. Otherwise, what was the point of the recent stuff?

It's a fabulous new day, yes it is!
Wasn't Khali going to film at one point movies from India?

Aren't 99.999995% of Indian movies those musical comedies?

I'd love to see Khali try to sing.

He's not going there until April 26, which seems odd since Backlash is the 27th. He could wait 2 days and job out on the PPV. But, if he doesn't, I'm sure they will have Big Show put him out for awhile.

They can have Show decimate Khali on TV and have Khali not making it to the PPV... kinda like when WWE had Taker vs Khali in a LMS match on SD rather than having it on Summerslam 2006.

Maybe that's the reason Khali is taking the time off immediately?

With Big Show back, Khali isn't as needed anymore. Show wrestles a lot better, talk a lot better, has more marketability outside of India, and is just overall better. All that's really saving Khali from disappearing after fighting Show is his huge appeal in India/WWE's desire to find more international appeal, and that it's a proven fact that Vince loves big guys.

Maybe he just wants to stretch out the eventual confrontation?

The thing about that would be that Khali has always been booked as very dominant, so it'd be...off for him to get destroyed - even by Big Show.

Not to mention it wouldn't further endear him to western audiences since, established disinterest/dislike aside, he's played the coward heel so far against Show.

He's never really been good enough for a ppv match. I just don't know how many times you can bring him out just so everyone can look at how big he is. At some point he has to be able to wrestle a decent match with more than 3 people. At least Andre could brawl decently. Khali just screams and kind of chops.

You forgot "posess". He does a lot of poses, too.

Show isn't the best in the ring either but he is good enough to I assume carry Khali. He's no Taker and Kane would even be good at carrying him I would think.

Show is better than most people give him credit for. He is just so big, no one can actually wrestle him. He and Kane had some good matches before that surprised me.

They could put Big Show back on ECW and Feud over the title with Kane.

I just watched the Diesel/Taker match again last night and I gotta say that was probably one of the better big man matches besides the ones with Taker and Kane throughout the years.
