Orton retained the WWE title...

:yikes:
What the fuck? No wonder why the match wasn't the main event. This pretty much gives away the world heavyweight title match ending, Taker's going to be 16-0, otherwise, something's fucked up.

LEGEND KILLER!!! LEGEND KILLER!!! LEGEND KILLER!!!

He beat two possible Legends in one match . I just saw it a bit late because there was some problems with the feed so they rewinded it or something...

Mayne!!! lol

It's a fabulous new day, yes it is!
Only watched Flair vs HBK (loved the match), BunnyMania (better than I expected) and Cena's corny entrance... I'll watch more of WM later, I didn't mind Orton winning. Glad to hear Edge vs Taker as Main Event. :tu:

So about a half hour before it started, I realised I had nothing to do tonight so...why not?

I'm glad I ordered, I have to say. Considering that I had almost no interest going into it, it's amazing that I got it. I blame Flair for that since I wanted to see his "last match" after last night's Hall of Fame.

Maybe it's a bit premature, but I think it may be my favorite WrestleMania. Almost everything went how I'd want it to go: CM Punk won Money in the Bank (fuck yes), neither Cena or Triple H walked out with the WWE championship, and Undertaker walked out still undefeated and with gold. I wanted Show to win, but it was good enough since Mayweather had to practically cheat to win.

I knew almost nothing about this WrestleMania going in. I didn't even know half of the matches going into it and I certainly didn't know the storylines (other than a little bit of Flair/HBK and Show/Mayweather), but...yeah, it was a good show. I'm glad I got it.

I might want to watch ECW and SmackDown again to see what happens with Punk and see how 'Taker's reign pans out.

Good Wresltemania. The matches I didnt expect ot be too good ended up being much better then I thought. Bunnymania was pretty good. Show vs Mayweather was as good as it could have been. Mayweather took a few shots so thats cool. And Flair/HBK was the best match of the night.

I was upset that the triple threat was treated so poorly. It reminded me of the WM 22 triple threat. Could have been amazing but didnt get much time. Same thing with this one. But Randy Orton winning was a very very nice suprise. Especially since Cena got pinned.

Edge was awesome in the match with Taker. He's one of the greatest of all time. And Taker, well he's in a league of his own and shall never lose at Mania.

I wonder if Orton retaining and Punk winning MITB have anything to do with each other? I don't think they'll have Punk use the MITB to go after the ECW Title for two big reasons: A) He's already had that belt and could easily go after it again without having won MITB and B) the ECW title is all but unimportant and is more on the level of the US/IC title than with the two World titles so using MITB on the ECW title would be a waste of the MITB. So I'm thinking they'll be moving Punk to Raw or SD! like they moved Kennedy and Edge last year. I don't think he'll go to SD! since I'm almost certain Taker will be getting the long title reign he was unable to have last year due to injury. Which means he'll be going to Raw. Why else keep the title on Orton at WM if their ultimate plan was to put the title on Triple H or Cena? I think the plan is to have an Orton/Punk program for the WWE title. (lets go Orton  ). I could be wrong (seeing as how my predictions usually are  ) and could change my opinion after I see what happens on Raw, but based off these two match outcomes, this is how I see things going right now.

I found an online streaming of the show live which was pretty awesome, meaning i got to Wrestlemania!!

It was a fairly good show, by far the MITB match was my favourite but i enjoyed the other matches as well.

Overall good show, cant wait to see what happens on RAW and Smackdown this week but RAW particularly this evening when all superstars have been called to the RAW Show this evening.

BURN IT DOOOWWNNNNNNNN!
Some news from last night's WM.

LOP

WFTV.com in Florida has a story online about the fireworks accident that occurred at the end of Wrestlemania last night.

According to the story (link), at least 35 people were injured when a "pyrotechnics malfunction sent fireworks and hot cables flying into crowded stands". While many of those injured left with ice packs on their minor burns, three fans were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center. According to the fire department, none of the burn victims were "seriously hurt".

At least one fan also complained about how long it took for firefighters to react to what could have been an emergency: "We had to sit up in the bleachers and wait for a paramedic to come. They didn't really examine us. And we had to walk all the way down to first aid and had to ask for a bag of ice just to put on our head."

- The Money in the Bank participants rehearsed their match in their street clothes in the ring about an hour before the doors opened up. While they were rehearsing, John Legend rehearsed his performance.

- Despite the incredible scene was saw on television, the Citrus Bowl is a dump. Most of the seats are uncomfortable and the entire upper section was backless bleachers. WWE was selling $10 "bleacher pillows". The men's bathrooms were disgusting and had "troughs" - not the best for privacy.

- 2 fights broke out during the Mayweather vs. Big Show match.

- The dollar bills that fell into the audience during Mayweather's entrance were not real and had Mayweather's face on them.

- The sun was shining almost to the minute that the show went on the air, and then became completely overcast and started raining. The showers were light and sporadic throughout the night, but never much of a problem. It did get quite chilly, though.

- The power outage during the women's match really affected the live fans' enjoyment of the WWE title triple threat match that followed. After the lights went, the giant screens over the ring soon followed, making it hard for many fans to follow the action in the ring.

- The streets surrounding the Citrus Bowl were filled with residents selling parking spaces for $20-$25 in their backyards, behind churches, in the parking lots of private businesses, and everywhere else.

- Despite some speculation, TNA never flew a plane over the Citrus Bowl, although there were no shortage of annoying aircraft hovering above. One advertised a strip club and beared the suitable message, "Wooo!"

- Rev Theory, the band that performed the WrestleMania theme this year, played a concert at the Fan Axxess across the street from the stadium a few hours before the show.

- TNA set up a small area across the street from Citrus Bowl before the show where fans could take pictures with the X-Division Title belt. There were also TNA flyers littered around the stadium.

- WWE started letting fans into the stadium 2 hours before the show started. This was a good move because in the past, fans have missed the opening of the show waiting in line to get in.

I thought it was TNA's plane up until this post.

Was there multiple during the MITB match? That's the only time I can remember a plane flying over head. It seemed to be circling for most of the match.

That's cool, but what about the other belts? The X Division is probably their least important belt now (or maybe the Tag belts are?). Wonder why it was only the X Division belt?

I don't know what surprised me more. That Randy Orton retained, or the fact taht Raw didn't have the true main evnt.

When I saw that the triple threat wasn't the main event and realised only two matches were left, I thought maybe that meant Undertaker was going to lose since it'd be the main event (no way Mayweather/Show would be).

It wasn't until I heard the details at the start of the Taker match that I realised Undertaker would probably win since his winning would accomplish more on a temporary basis than Edge. I didn't know 'Taker had never beaten Edge and I was unaware they were still considering Edge as undefeated at 'Mania.

If Edge would've won, he would've beaten the streak and won the main event, but nothing else really would've mattered. If and since Taker won, he continues the streak (hopefully until 20), wins the World belt, beats Edge for the first time I guess, and officially ends Edge's streak. Not to mention the show ending with Taker cutting a pose with the belt is the coolest way to go out ever (except for the end of XX). Undertaker winning got them a lot more than Edge winning.

Still, even though I can piece it together now and pretty much could during the match, I was still in doubt enough to keep glued to it. There were a few moments when I thought that maybe, just maybe Edge might win. Especially when he got the spear after the Edgeheads interfered. The final few minutes had me more glued than any other moment during the night.

That match was the best match to end 'Mania, no doubt.

Besides the match that seemed to overshadow one of the main events, which I'll never understand why it went on after the 3 way, and some other little things, I enjoyed the show.

If Raw is your highest rated show that has what is considered the better of all 3 belts, then why the fuck are you going to have some crappy match, if you can even call it go on afterwards? It's bad enough it was over-hyped, but to have it go on second to last is making a mockery of just about any of the main events that has been put on at WM.

Of course I don't have to say what it was to see Orton retain and Punk win which I was pretty sure Kennedy would get it but oh well, guess they have other plans for him.

Mayweather vs Show? It was either that or Bunnymania after the three way.

They always have to have a match inbetween the two main events for people to calm down during. While it wasn't that calm, it gave the audience a chance inbetween the two main events to do what they may need to do (concession, bathroom, e.t.c.) and get them ready to go wild for the next main event.

Besides, with as much attention as Mayweather/Show got throughout the media, to put it low on the card would be odd. Low quality or high quality, it's place was the best for it.

This WrestleMania was amazing. Right now it's in a tie with WrestleMania XX personally for my favorite WrestleMania. Nearly everything on the card was solid, including the matches I thought would be. The only problem I had was the Undertaker/Edge match. Honestly, I don't know if it was because of the 3 previous hours of action, but I just didn't care about it. They start fighting out of the ring and I start to dose off. Even when 'Taker one it couldn't hold my interest until the fireworks started going off. I thought the Triple Threat Match was the better title match, even if it didn't last that long.

Flair/Michaels was amazing. The video before it gave me chills, and the Michaels slap to Flair early in the match literally left my mouth wide open until they started the action. I don't have any words that can describe the ending. You can tell by the end that Michaels was about to lose it, making the lipped words "I'm sorry. I love you." even more breathtaking. Right after the match he did that whole talk to Flair-kiss thing, and I nearly lost it. Honestly, I've only been a fan of Flair from his return to WWE in 2001, but I can really respect what he has accomplished past and present. His walk up the stage was really, really nice.

The MITB was also awesome. This'll be voted as my favorite MITB match ever, behind the WM 22 one, WM 21, and WM 23 ones, respectively. Really amazing spots, especially the Morrison one where he did the moonsault off the top rope with the ladder. I was also happy to see Hardy interfere; if he won it, I would have been pissed, but him taking MVP out of the equation was a great segue into the end where the rest fought it out. And Punk winning? Wow.

I also really liked Show/Mayweather. The thing I like most is that it's really believable. Show legitimately got all the shots on Mayweather, only for Show to get distracted by his posse, which gave him the chance to get the chair and him with it like 4 times. The knock-out brass kuncks punch was also really cool.

All in all, a really special WrestleMania that was really worth my time and money.

After seeing WrestleMania, I'm proud to say that I'm easily the happiest I've ever been with the WWE, since I started watching wrestling. Every match was absolutely remarkable, especially Flair/Michaels. I dropped a few tears, as I watched Flair make his way backstage for the final time. What an amazing event. Fifty bucks well spent.

I am rock solid. BUT. You could tell that Flair knew he was in the last moments of his wrestling career. Flai got up on his knees and was crying already. He said something to Micheals, something along the lines of "bring it". Shawn said 'I'm sorry, I love you" and hit the Sweet Chin. Flair laid on the ground crying, instead of pretending to be knocked out. HBK made the pin, hugged Flair on the ground, said something to him and left. Definitly one of the greatest Wrestlemania moments of all time.

But what made me cry was when Micheals nailed his stomach on the edge of the table. OWWWWW

Many wrestling fans were hopeful that Ric Flair's match against Shawn Michaels would be the final match to close out last night's WrestleMania XXIV. It turns out that Flair was offered the main event spot but turned it down.

There was a pitch made by a creative team member to have the final shot of WrestleMania be a spotlight on Flair's boots and robe. However, Flair strongly disagreed with those sentiments when the idea was brought up to him during a press conference held prior to the WWE Hall of Fame convention.

Flair told reporters that nothing is more important than the title belts and insisted that his match with Michaels did not belong in the main event position.

I have to agree with that for the most part.

Flair's match was a huge moment for 'Mania and it's actually what got me to buy the PPV, but it shouldn't have been the main event. If any non-title match last night should have, it's that one, but either of the title matches were more appropriate for the main event.

The belts should be the focus (in so many ways that I won't get into here) and should be the main event almost every single time. In fact, I can only think of one time a non-title match should've been the main event instead of the world championship match and that's at WrestleMania x-8. Hogan vs Rock should've been it and the crowd reactiosn prove it, but that's another topic.

During the last fireworks event of the show, eyewitnesses said, fireworks plunged into the crowd and exploded, injuring 45. At least three people were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with burns.

Firefighters with the Orlando Fire Department said the fans who were taken to ORMC weren't seriously hurt, but some of the victims said for them the WWE's reputation is now in bad shape.

Tens of thousands of wrestling fans flocked to WrestleMania for the experience of a lifetime, but over 40 fans left with ice packs on their necks and three left in an ambulance.

"It felt like a whip. I have a welt on my neck," said victim Barbara Vetere. "Like a baseball bat hit me. It was horrible. Horrible."

A pyrotechnics malfunction sent fireworks and hot cables flying into crowded stands during the final wrestling match.

"You can see the marks on a few people where hot wires crossed and fireworks touched them," said Asst. Chief Greg Hoggatt, of the Orlando Fire Department.

Firefighters said they acted quickly, but fans told a different story.

"We had to sit up in the bleachers and wait for a paramedic to come. They didn't really examine us. And we had to walk all the way down to first aid and had to ask for a bag of ice just to put on our head," Vetere added.

Channel 9 placed a call to the WWE to ask them how the accident could happen. The call was not immediately returned.

As for the pyros, maybe that's a sign that they should ease up a bit on the pyrotechnics? :-/

As we reported last night, Kevin Nash was backstage at WrestleMania XXIV at the Citrus Bowl. To put an end to speculation, Nash was not there looking for any type of WWE deal but was there to visit with Triple H and wanted to be there for Ric Flair's match against Shawn Michaels. Nash left WWE on very good terms and was even offered a management position in the company that he declined. He remains good friends with Triple H and Shawn Michaels.

There was a major robbery backstage at WrestleMania 24 at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando.

The most expensive item stolen was Batista's Rolex watch, which is valued at over $60,000.

Also stolen were money, wallets, passports and keys. One of the passports stolen belongs to Matt Hardy.

Things are hectic in the WWE office as they're trying to get passport duplicates as fast as they can due to the upcoming overseas tour, which starts this Friday.

Below are a few interesting news tidbits from Dave Meltzer's Wrestling Observer Newsletter. You can obtain subscription information at this link.
- As noted earlier, there was a major theft backstage WrestleMania XXIV. As of right now, no one knows who did it, and since there was so many people backstage that don't work for WWE, it is likely to have been anyone. Several Superstars had their wallets stolen, passports stolen, and keys stolen. Matt Hardy has both his wallet and passport stolen. Batista had his Rolex watch stolen which was said to have been valued at around $35,000.
