As WWE Superstars return from the rich, royal tradition of the United Kingdom to American shores, the stars of Raw, SmackDown and ECW will compete for their own unique crowning glory.

For the first time in two years, a new King of the Ring will be decided in a one-night tournament that commences in the very first hour of a special three-hour episode of Raw, live from the BI-LO Center in Greenville, S.C.

Eight competitors will have to defeat multiple opponents in a single night to be coronated with the treasured crown and robe that WWE Legends and Hall of Famers such as Harley Race, “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase, Bret “Hitman” Hart, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Edge have worn during their illustrious careers.

It’s not known which Superstars will make up the tournament field, but be assured that the four men involved in the Fatal Four Way Match for the WWE Championship at Backlash – John Cena, John “Bradshaw” Layfield, Triple H and WWE Champion Randy Orton – will want to make their mark and gain momentum just days before their title tilt. A King of the Ring Tournament victory would do just that.

Also watching the tournament live at BI-LO Center will be Senators Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, who have been invited to settle their Democrat differences in Greenville. What will happen as these two titans of the political world face off in the WWE ring? Will their confrontation finally end their stalemate on the road to their party’s presidential nomination?

With Shawn Michaels and Batista at odds over HBK’s retirement of WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair at WrestleMania XXIV, look for sparks to fly if the two cross paths in the tournament or if they match up with their special guest referee at Backlash, Chris Jericho.

Also, the Divas cheered as Mickie James ended The Glamazon’s dominance, stunning fans worldwide to claim her fourth Women’s Championship. How will Beth Phoenix react to the loss? And will other Divas look to challenge the new champion, making her new reign a short one?

I am looking forward to KOTR tonight, just as I did 2 years ago, but it is in 1 night and they will be the fill for the card, so I am suspecting 8 Midcard guys will be taking over the show.

I am looking for this to be: Matt, MVP, Dreamer, Kingston, Y2J, Umaga, Morrison and Burchill.

Ken Kennedy is expected to make his return to WWE television at tomorrow night's three-hour edition of Raw from the BI-LO Center in Greenville, South Carolina. Kennedy has been away from WWE television for the past several weeks filming a straight-to-DVD film in Puerto Rico.

John Cena is also expected to be at tomorrow night's edition of Raw. Cena is currently filming the movie 12 Rounds in New Orleans, Louisiana. As most of you know, Cena did not go overseas with WWE which is why he was not on Raw last week.

WWE has announced that tonight's edition of Raw will feature an eight man tag match with World Heavyweight Champion Undertaker, ECW Champion Kane, John Cena, & Triple H taking on WWE Champion Randy Orton, Edge, JBL, & Chavo Guerrero.

Broadcasting & Cable: The Business of Television is reporting that Senators Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and John McCain have taped video appearances that will air on tonight's three-hour edition of Raw from Greenville, South Carolina.

The publication noted in an article posted today that WWE came to Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama to get some "promotional punch" out of the tight race so they invited Obama and Clinton to "settle the Democratic-nomination process in the wrestling ring."

While the Senators declined that invitation, they did agree to tape a message for the audience that will be included on tonight's broadcast.

Kennedy better win I'd hate to see the win go to someone who's already over or someone who has a title.

What would it matter? Unless it's the WWE, World, or ECW belt, it's just a glorified accessory anyway. :-/

I'm thinking that MVP will win this KOTR tournament, lose the US title to Matt at Backlash, and go off and have a fued against Undertaker for the world heavyweight championship.

I would love for Kennedy to win KOTR. He's got such an arrogantly cocky character and such a win would only give him more to boast about.

However, as long as the KOTR is used to elevate someone, then it's all good. If it's not Kennedy, then I'd be fine with MVP, Punk, Cade, Carlito, or any other talented mid-carder that would do fine up the card. Although, I hope it isn't Punk. He already has MITB, so there's no reason to put two elevating wins on him.

The only way I could see KOTR being bad is if they put it on an existing main eventer or if they put it on someone like, I don't know, Hornswoggle. Neither of those moves would be beneficial to the company in the long run. Elevating someone, even if the person being elevated eventually fails, is the best move and is usually what KOTR is about anyway. :)

A Hornswoggle win is something to be scared about. WWE loves "comedy" bits and Hornswoggle is the biggest "comedy" character they have.

But I think that shouldn't be too big of a concern because it seems that Hornswoggle peaked awhile ago. He's probably already on the downhill slide that Eugene took.

Yeah, he jumped the shark when they revealed that Finlay was his real daddy. He doesn't even appear on Raw anymore, which is a comforting sign that he won't be a "shock value" win. :crossfingers:

If Carlito won, it would be the coolest thing in the history of human life. However it doesn't seem like it would fit in to the story they have him in. Kennedy could win. Or my pick, Umaga. Umaga's not doing much, plus he loses alot. They better start making him look strong again, or his appeal will be lost. Go UMAGA. Boo constipated Kennedy.

I've read from one of the online news sites that they have real pre-recorded addresses to air as well. WWE does the "Smack down your vote" campaign, so I hope they don't do something as stupid as the rosie vs donald thing.

It would easily be the most retarded thing they have ever done if they do. It was bad enough the first time, what with everyone shitting on it. If they're stupid enough to do it a second time, I expect - NAY! I DEMAND Vince McMahon participate in the next Special Olympics with all the other retarded people.

I'm sorry, that was mean. I really shouldn't insult the mentally challenged by associating them with Vince. :(

Yeah, they advertised both that, and a special "interpretation" (I think that's what King called it) of a Hilliary vs. Obama match. It's something I'm definitely going to watch. It's like a really bad train wreck. It's so bad, you can't help but look. :P

Who'd they beat?

That's a disappointing line-up, I have to say. The only person who will probably benefit is Punk.

I guess it's good though since it'd make him more credible for his eventual title shot.

Who'd they beat?

- Chris Jericho beat MVP by submission (Walls of Jericho) to advance to the semi-finals of the tournament.
- CM Punk beat Matt Hardy by pinfall (bridging pin) to advance to the semi-finals of the tournament.
- Finlay beat the Great Khali by disqualification to advance to the semi-finals of the tournament.
- William Regal beat Hornswoggle by submission (Regal Stretch) to advance to the semi-finals of the tournament.

Regal vs Finlay, huh? I don't know who to pick because I'm pretty sure neither are going to do much more than they do right now. :-/

Regal. Heel vs Face... besides Punk is starting to get booed they better keep him in vs a heel.

True.

Punk needs to be booed. Maybe that will be enough for WWE to turn him heel. He's bland as a face, but he's an awesome heel. If they let him be the "I'm better than you" heel, they could have something really good going.

Also, this is the most I've ever heard Barack talk. Clearly I care about American politics.

Oh my god, he used that "do you smell what Barack is cookin' line".
