It looks like the special effects aren't the only thing keeping Warner Bros. busy on the GREEN LANTERN front. Although principal photography has long since wrapped, the studio is still searching for an actor to voice Kilowog, member of the Green Lantern Corps and Hal Jordan's trainer.

Kilowog

According to Latino Review, Michael Clarke Duncan is in talks to lend his voice to the famous Green Lantern.

With a 3D launch on June 17th, the comic fandom have been wondering why Warner Bros. Pictures has only revealed one teaser trailer for the Green Lantern. Apparently, the studio has heard those complaints and not only have they given a release date for their second-full trailer of the Ryan Reynolds-clad superhero but have also explained to the Los Angeles Times why the marketing hasn't been coming as often as other summer fare.

Warner Bros. chiefs clarified their stance to the magazine with "We are on a learning curve," says WB Pictures President Jeff Robinov, "in getting 3-D materials and marketing materials on the same schedule."

It seems some fall-out from last fall's teaser trailer also slowed them up with a desire to complete post-production effects.

"Part of the reason the response to the first trailer was lukewarm was that the big-scale sequences weren't ready to show," Marketing President Sue Kroll adds, "and we suffered for it. We can't afford to do that again."

But they have given a date as to when fans can watch the second full-trailer for the Green Lantern. It will be attached to the worldwide premiere of Thor on May 6th.

According to the LA Times, Geoffrey Rush will lend his vocal talents to Warner Bros.' GREEN LANTERN. He will voice Tomar-Re, an alien member of the Green Lantern Corps who helps Hal Jordan learn to use his new powers.

Just a week after Geoffrey Rush joined the Green Lantern to voice Tomar-Re, HR is reporting Warner Bros. Pictures' upcoming summer release has added another voice to the cast. After weeks on the rumor vine, Michael Clarke Duncan has entered negotiations to tackle the role of Kilowog, a drill sergeant trainer of new recruits for the Green Lantern Corps, the intergalactic police force that patrols the universe.

Duncan joins Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Angela Bassett, Tim Robbins, Temuera Morrison, Jay O. Sanders, Geoffrey Rush, Taika Waititi and Jon Tenney. Director Martin Campbell led from the helm, based on a screenplay by Greg Berlanti, Michael Green, Marc Guggenheim and Michael Goldenberg.

The cloud at the start reminds me of Galactus from Rise Of The Silver Surfer  This trailer does make the film look a hell of a lot better than the first one they released, it came off extremely corny and over dramatic in that one but I'm really liking the look of it now.

I'm going to see this tonight or tomorrow. I have read a few reviews online (avoiding spoilers) and most aren't good. They all same the same thing, that it felt rushed and not fleshed out but the CGI was great. I'm never one to go by what a movie review says (I loved Daredevil and everyone else hated it). But, I have been nervous about this movie from the start. Now, I'm thinking it's going to be lacking. I hope my low expectations make it better.

I also hope a sequel is going to happen as they won't have to spend a lot of the movie setting up the origin and can just spend the movie telling a GL story.

So, I just saw the GL film and I have to say, I'm not sure why people reviewing this film is crapping on it other than it being the internet and that's what they do. I have literally been reading GL comics since the 1970's and Hal Jordan is my favorite hero. So, going in, I was expecting the worst and expecting to see all the shit that was done wrong in the film. However, I thought it was a great movie. It's an origin story and those take some time to tell before the real action begins, but having the other Corp members helps that a bit. I don't want to spoil anything and will wait until others see the film, but the sequel was set up brilliantly and should be awesome.

Compared to Thor and First Class, how does Green Lantern fares?

I have not seen First Class, but it is just as good as Thor if not better.

I have yet to see GL, but you should really watch First Class if you can. Much better than X-Men 3 - which I thought it sucked - and Origins, which was worse then X3.

I know this is a bump out of nowhere, however, GL debuted on HBO tonight. I know this movie got crapped on by reviewers, but I liked it. I was wondering what everyone else thought of the film...if you saw it of course.

I liked it a lot. It was an origin movie and those take time to tell the story. A sequel would be much faster pace.

Kraul

I obtained it a few months ago. I thought it was okay. Nothing that special. I'd place it above Fantastic Four but below The Incredible Hulk on my list in terms of quality. So pretty much middle of the road.
