The Brothers of Destruction kept the gold in their family at Backlash on Sunday, as Kane retained the ECW Championship by defeating Chavo Guerrero and Undertaker held on to the World Heavyweight Championship with a victory over Edge.

While Guerrero was assisted by his bodyguard, Bam Neely, in his attempt to win back the ECW Championship, their efforts weren’t strong enough for the Big Red Machine. Kane carried his dominance from the Land of the Extreme to Baltimore’s 1st Mariner Arena and proved he won’t be stopped when it comes to ECW gold.

Now, just days later on ECW on Sci Fi, the fiery champion will face both these foes again - in a Handicap Match. Can Kane overcome the combined force of the "Mexican Warrior" and his girthy bodyguard, Bam? Or might these odds be too great for even the Big Red ECW Champion to endure?

Also at Backlash, ECW beauties and rivals, Kelly Kelly and Layla, faced off during the 12-Diva Tag Team Match. A tough and tenacious Layla found herself in the victorious corner, alongside Beth Phoenix, Natalya, Victoria, Jillian and Melina. Kelly Kelly’s athletic and acrobatic contributions to her team were impressive, but not enough to help earn her squad a victory, as Michelle McCool, Cherry, Ashley, Maria and Women’s Champion Mickie James were defeated when Phoenix pinned Ashley. The rivalry between Layla and Kelly Kelly only seems to be escalating, but what is next for these two Extreme Divas? Will either of the former friends come out on top?

On ECW, Shelton Benjamin fell short of delivering Kofi Kingston his first loss since joining the Land of the Extreme. Can anyone slow down the Jamaican Superstar? Has Benjamin lost his credibility as the self-proclaimed “Gold Standard” of ECW?

Half of the WWE Tag Team Champions, John Morrison, was another Superstar who was taken by surprise with a loss. Jimmy Wang Yang delivered a crushing blow to the Shaman of Sexy, adding to the WWE Tag Team Champions’ stretch of inconsistency. Will Morrison & The Miz find a way to rebound?

Kofi Kingston b. Shelton Benjamin to open the show.

Mike Knox b. Tommy Dreamer

Mick Foley is a guest on Matt Striker's Show - Foley comes out to a huge pop. They go over all his accomplishments. Striker then insults Foley about his looks and smile. Foley says that he likes the way that he looks and he has sacrificed a lot to entertain us. Foley gets a pop for mentioning Atlantic City and ends up getting out Mr. Socko and giving Striker the Mandible claw. Foley says class is dismissed and to have a nice day!

CM Punk b. Chuck Palumbo via disqualification.

Chavo Guerrero & Bam Neely b. ECW Champion Kane. Chavo Guerrero hit a Frog Splash to get the pinfall victory.

-- On tonight's ECW broadcast, Mike Adamle left the broadcast position right before the main event. Tazz followed him, and there was no commentary during the event. WWE.com has a story on the situation, which you can read at this link. According to the article, Adamle and Tazz exited the arena and went to the parking lot. The WWE site plans on having a further update on the situation soon. The article also acknowledges the fans that haven't been too happy with him so far in his role as the play-by-play man for ECW. The article also deems his commentary as "lackluster." They wrote: "It has been no secret that our traditional ECW fans have not been satisfied with Adamle’s lackluster commentary. Speculation is this could have led to the play by play and color commentator walking off during a WWE broadcast. Did Adamle and Tazz leave of their own volition or were they asked to leave?"

...our traditional ECW fans...

What is that supposed to mean?

Most fans of the original ECW have abandoned the abortion that airs on tuesdays and everyone else are regular WWE viewers anyway.

It should just say "our fans".

I wonder if the release of Grand Theft Auto IV is going to affect the ratings?

Afterall, it's probably the biggest game of the year and the core audience of WWE's shows is the same audience that plays GTA IV. Since yesterday was the release date, I wouldn't doubt it if people passed on ECW for some GTA IV goodness.

I don't play GTA either.

Well, that's understandable. GTA is geared more toward a younger audience.

Here's from WWE.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – Tuesday night, ECW announcers Mike Adamle and Tazz removed their headsets and left the broadcast position before the conclusion of ECW on Sci Fi. The event occurred just prior to the evening’s main event Handicap Match, featuring ECW Champion Kane and Chavo Guerrero with Bam Neely.

Adamle and Tazz reportedly exited the arena and marched straight to the parking lot. Adamle was said to look shocked and expressionless as he left.

WWE Superstars were taken aback by this unprecedented occurrence. Calls and texts to both Adamle and Tazz have gone unanswered.

It has been no secret that our traditional ECW fans have not been satisfied with Adamle’s lackluster commentary. Speculation is this could have led to the play by play and color commentator walking off during a WWE broadcast. Did Adamle and Tazz leave of their own volition or were they asked to leave?

WWE.com will attempt to get exclusive video interviews from WWE Superstars about this situation and post them as soon as possible. Stay logged on to WWE.com to learn more about this shocking development.

So they called and text them but no answer eh.

It took me awhile, but I finally got that. :-/

But seriously, this is probably going to be a cool gig for them. As long as it doesn't hurt the in-ring product (opposed to Adamle speaking  ) then it's good.

I just realised what I said.

Not the awful (on so many levels) joke, but that I inadvertenly hoped no harm on Adamle.

Please, Tazz! Choke that bitch out with a pillow. I'm sure Michael Cole could get you a coupon for Bed, Bath & Beyond if you need one. :(

According to data compiled by Nielson Media Research last night's edition of ECW did a 1.1 cable rating. This is down from last week's 1.3.

WWE iMPACT?

1.1. That's...ouch. That'll probably be an awesome rating after they move to MyNetworkTV though. I've heard MNTV is the second lowest rated channel in the U.S. or something like that.

The audience that watches ECW is pretty much the same that would watch Heat, TNA, Velocity, etc. They'll watch whatever wrestling show is on...

The same audience that keeps Bottom Line on TV.
