We have major details for the 6/6 tournament in Hartford, CT to determine the new ROH World Tag Team Champions. There will be eight teams in the tourney. The format of the tournament will be announced next week in the ROHwrestling.com Newswire. We can announce the eight teams now. ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness has insisted on being in the tourney so he can try to become the first man to hold the World Title and World Tag Titles at the same time. Go Shiozaki has agreed to be his partner, since Shiozaki needs a title belt for his stay in the United States to be successful. They round out the field of eight. Here are the eight teams in no particular order:
-ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness & Go Shiozaki
-FIP World Heavyweight Champion Roderick Strong & Davey Richards of No Remorse Corps
-Kevin Steen & El Generico
-Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black of The Age Of The Fall
-Austin Aries & Bryan Danielson
-The Vulture Squad of Ruckus & Jigsaw
-Chris Hero & Adam Pearce with Larry Sweeney of Sweet & Sour Inc.
-Delirious & Pelle Primeau
-Tickets now available at ROHwrestling.com.

My first round precition match ups

ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness & Go Shiozaki vs Austin Aries & Bryan Danielson

Man what a way to open a show, your champ and noah star vs two best wrestlers in ROH today, there would never be one bad match up out of the four and the fans would eat it up alive for the first match of the show, I see Aries pinning Go wit 450 while Dragon and Nigel battle it out. Team Work advances.

-Chris Hero & Adam Pearce with Larry Sweeney of Sweet & Sour Inc. vs Delirious & Pelle Primeau

Here's your joke match of the first round, but you have to have some heels advance, go wit sweet and sour on this one give the tease of SNS getting gold Hero and Pearce advance after Hero pins pelle. SNS advances.

Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black of The Age Of The Fall vs The Vulture Squad of Ruckus & Jigsaw

Jacobs and Black vs VS feud continues, but yet again the VS has no chance at all to win, match could be entertaining but Id think there pushing Jacobs and Black to much for them to lose. Jacobs makes Saw tap to the end times? Age of the Fall Advances.

FIP World Heavyweight Champion Roderick Strong & Davey vs Kevin Steen & El Generico

My upset pick of the first round, this match is another one where theres not a bad match up between the four. I see Kevin Steen and El Generico getting screwed some how by the age of the fall or someone and getting distracted for either Strong or Richards to captilize. Stong pins El Generico gibson driver. NRC advances

2 Round

Chris Hero & Adam Pearce with Larry Sweeney of Sweet & Sour Inc vs Austin Aries & Bryan Danielson

This match will not be a mat classic, its basically a squash for Teamwork to get into the finals Aries and Danielson win easy win Danielson makes Pearce tap to cattle mutalation. Team Work Advances

Roderick Strong & Davey vs Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black

NRC vs AOTF they have teased this match before and it looks good in the rivarly since the NRC pinned AOTF to get the belts. I see this match having many near falls with Richards pinning Jacobs with the D R Driver. NRC advances to finals

Finals for the belts

Strong and Richards vs Aries and Danielson

This is your main event and possibly your match of the night, You have the storyline hear with the Danielson and Aries history with Strong. Then you have Team Work who got screwed out of the tag belts when the NRC beat them in Chicago. This match will have tons of false finishes and will end when Danielson puts in the MMA elbows on Richards and the ref has to stop the match. New tag champs Team Work.

I choose Team Work to win the belts on three reasons.

A. everyones choosing Steen and Generico on winning the belts I don't think gabe wants it to go as predicted by the fans

B. The headline match in Philly the next night is Team Work vs Age of the Fall, and if its headlining it ll probally be for the belts and so it was basically down to two teams when I read this. And since AOTF already had belts I choose Team Works.

C. I think they want to save Steen and Generico for a special main event and a blow off match during a feud and main event for like Philly or Chicago or New York.

I think that we'll be seeing Danielson and Aries versus Black and Jacobs in the finals, in which the AOTF will be put over. If it's not Jacobs and Black, I wouldn't be surprised if Steenerico walked away with the win. We'll see what happens next week, I guess.

Why would they have AOTF vs Aries and Danielson in the finals if there having that same match the next night in philly.

A rematch for the belts, maybe?

Why They Will Win...
Tuesday, May 27, 2008

Ring Of Honor returns to Hartford on June 6th with the most important event it has ever held in Connecticut. Jay Briscoe has surrendered the ROH World Tag Team Titles. The next champs will be determined in a one night tournament to be held June 6th in Hartford, CT at the conveniently located Connecticut Expo Center (check www.ctexpocenter.com for building info and www.ROHwrestling.com for tickets).

The reason Jay Briscoe vacated the titles is looked at in the current ROH Video Wire at ROHvideos.com. The next ROH Video Wire will have even more details. It has been a tumultuous year for the belts. It is obvious that any team can win them and the titles can change hands at any time. Will this tourney bring stability to the titles? Here is a look at the brackets for the eight team tournament in Hartford:

First Round Matches:
A) Jigsaw & Ruckus with Julius Smokes vs. Adam Pearce & Chris Hero with Larry Sweeney & Sara Del Rey
B) ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness & Go Shiozaki vs. Kevin Steen & El Generico
C) Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black vs. Delirious & Pelle Primeau
D) Austin Aries & Bryan Danielson vs. FIP World Heavyweight Champion Roderick Strong & Davey Richards

Semifinals:
A winner vs. B winner
C winner vs. D winner

Finals:
A/B winner vs. C/D winner

Here is why each of the eight teams will or will not win the belts on June 6th:

-Jigsaw & Ruckus with Julius Smokes (The Vulture Squad)

Why They Will Win: This team steals the show on ROH's next PPV ("Take No Prisoners" set for May 30th premiere) proving that they have the chemistry of champions.

Why They Won't: The Vulture Squad has been downsized with Jack Evans touring Mexico for AAA and Mercedes Martinez amicably parting ways with ROH so it will be interesting to see how Jigsaw & Ruckus respond.

-Adam Pearce & Chris Hero with Larry Sweeney & Sara Del Rey (members of Sweet & Sour Inc.)

Why They Will Win: Pearce & Hero will sink as low as they need to in order to win and are powered by Sweeney's greed.

Why They Won't: Does this new pairing have the teamwork and chemistry necessary to win a tourney like this?

ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness & Go Shiozaki

Why They Will Win: This is an all-star pairing who looked good as a team at "Double Feature" night 2.

Why They Won't Win: Can anyone deal with Nigel's ego?

Kevin Steen & El Generico

Why They Will Win: You can safely call them one of the best teams in the world after their matches in Orlando.

Why They Won't: Faced with an all-star duo in the first round.

Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black (members of The Age Of The Fall)

Why They Will Win: They have gotten a taste of the power that comes with the belts and are now hungrier for a dominant reign.

Why They Won't: AOTF might be hungry, but are they focused enough or will Aries, Briscoes and their revolution be a distraction?

Delirious & Pelle Primeau

Why They Will Win: Momentum after surprise win at the Hammerstein.

Why They Won't: Delirious has never held a title in ROH and Primeau is unproven in title situations.

Austin Aries & Bryan Danielson

Why They Will Win: It is Aries & Danielson on the same team, do you really need a reason?

Why They Won't: We are having a hard time coming up with one except that they have a very tough first round contest.

FIP World Heavyweight Champion Roderick Strong & Davey Richards (members of No Remorse Corps)

Why They Will Win: Both are former ROH World Tag Team Champions and know what it takes to be victorious.

Why They Won't: Can they stop a NRC cold streak?

History will be made on June 6th in Hartford, CT when new ROH World Tag Team Champions will be crowned. This should be one of the most competitive nights in ROH history with so much parity in the tourney and such a big prize on the line. Who is your favorite?

I just found the bracket, Im surprised I haven't found the actual bracket before. But this thing screwed up my predictions so much, I seriously have no idea who will win.

Saw and Ruckus could win- because there giving them matches on ppv for the tag belts, they have them fighting steen and generico for the belts at the next ppv. It looks like they are building up Saw and Ruckus so they could win.

Hero and Pearce could win- Remember when Hero and Claudio had the belts, people couldnt stand it that Hero had the belt and they were willing to have anyone beat them for the belts. They might want to do that again with Hero. Note I think Claudio might take Pearces place.

Nigel and Go- They have no shot, no point in Nigel having two belts.
Steen and Generico could win- They are easily the favorites since they are the best tag team in this tournament
Black and Jacobs could win- They were former tag champs why not, Black is way over now so give him a belt.
Aries and Danielson could win- I mean it seems like they do not want double ROH champs and Danielson and Aries have already been champs so put them as tag champs since they are so huge.
Strong and Richards could win- They don't have any angle going for them after this show, both are former tag champs.

I basically have no idea who will win after the bracket they announced.
