Have I asked this here before? I can't remember. Help me settle (or anti-settle) a dispute I've been having with many people for an age.

Murder I'd imagine though rape is pretty close... Murder... you're taking someone's life, Rape is obviously a pretty disgusting thing but the rape victim's still have the rest of their lives to put the pieces back together. |

I'd have to say murder. Rape is pretty vile, but as Darren kind of said, at least they're still alive. They can choose how to live from then on and they have an opportunity to see justice served themselves. You kind of can't when dead. |

IMO, no contest. Murder you take away a person's life. Rape hurts a person mentally and somewhat physically. |

Yes thankyou.
You know folks, maybe GD would be a little more active if people actually responded to topics, you know? Like, 9 people voted and only 4 have posted? |

I've been thinking about this and the easy answer is to say murder because when you murder someone you forever take that person away from his loved ones. But rape is something someone remembers for the remainder of their life. For a lot of people, it's not something that is easy to get over. If that one event cripple's a person mentally, then it's something terrible. And I find this especially true if the rape victim is a child. Both are terrible acts. I hope I never know anyone that is either raped or murdered. But I honestly think rape is a lot worse than people are giving the crime credit for. |

I don't think anyone is taking it for granted it's just even logically murder seems the worse of the two. |

So...what was the point of this again? Did you have a hard time convincing someone murder was worse than rape, JC, or are you on the opposite side of the fence and are just biding your time to unleash a mega post about why rape is worse?

My mother and I had a pretty heated argument about it the other day. I maintained that murder was worse, she said rape. |

The Messenjah!!

I voted Rape because the has to live with it and it can torture her for the rest of her life and she could end up killing herself. |

At least she gets to live, though. She could go on to live a very wonderful life, maybe even helping others who were a victim of rape. When you're dead, you're dead. End of story. No rainbows and bunnies fucking in meadows for you. Ever. If you're raped, at least you have the chance to get there. |

Looking at any of Darren's signatures is worse than both. There's probably cases of rape that are worse than murder but on a whole murders worse. |

Mm hmm. The crux of the matter is that having the potential for recovery is better than having no potential. Rape offers the chance, murder does not. |
