i am not a comic book fan, BUT i am a based on comic book movie lover. i cannot wait to see this movie. it is a great way for someone with limited knowledge of the comic world to share with more knowledgable comic lovers (like my man and daughter) and i get to learn about superheros that i don't know diddly about. hell until i started reading this thread i didn't even know there was a Wasp!

The Avengers movie is slowly coming together and we're hearing more about some scripting getting out there a bit and casting moving along. We've got our Thor. We've got our Captain America. We've got our Iron Man and we've got our Hulk. And oh boy do we have our Nick Fury. And we're closing in on a Maria Hill as well, which helps in the tiniest of ways to balance out the manliness of the film. But could the Avengers use a little more character of the female persuasion? With The Wasp largely being discounted from appearing since she should get her start in the Ant Man movie, word out of a few places, such as Comic Book Movie via Hey You Guys, they seem pretty confident that the surprise inclusion could be Ms. Marvel and one Yvonne Strahovski from Chuck could be tapped for the role:

Though it’s not often that we get the scoop on anything here, I’ve just received information from a protected source inside Marvel that points to Yvonne Strahovski being cast in the upcoming Avengers movie as Ms. Marvel.

Could it be true?

I, for one, have long hoped to see Yvonne crop up in a comic book movie. She’s got the action chops to easily pull it off and it was really just a matter of time before the right character came along.

 Mmmmm... Yvonne...

With shooting getting ever closer to starting in May, it looks like the final negotiations are underway for who will be playing a SHIELD agent alongside Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury in quite a few Marvel films coming up. Cobie Smulders (who we adore in How I Met Your Mother) essentially has a lock on the still unnamed SHIELD agent which will make their first appearance in the Avengers film.

Similar to the deal that Jackson has with Marvel Studios, it will be a nine-picture deal that has her in a supporting role for the character. Smulders would be joining Jackson alongside Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk) and Chris Hemsworth (Thor) in the Joss Whedon directed big picture that's set for a May 4, 2012 release.

A curious bit of news has come out via Cinematical that the Avengers film has cast Kevin Pennington to the role of a SHIELD agent named Wendell Vaughn, whom some fans may know better as the character Quasar. Pennington isn't a well known name at this point with only a couple of things under his belt that are due out but with the way Marvel is continually looking to expand on its characters and to try going for fresh faces for small characters that can be utilized later, it's not much of a surprise. Cinematical does note that we've heard the name before back when Ant-Man was being talked about as the man for that role.

In addition to that, some potential fun for those in the New York City area should be coming up in the next few months as word is getting out that:

During principal filming, SHIELD will be out in full force in NYC to recruit and find new members. Cast members on hand include Samuel L. Jackson (Director Nick Fury), Clark Gregg (Agent Phil Coulson), Cobie Smulders (Agent Maria Hill) and Kevin Pennington (Agent Wendell Vaughn). Fans will get the chance to meet the stars and get their photograph taken with them at the event.

Quasar? That is an interesting choice to bring to the big screen.

With Captain America (Chris Evans) expected to jump Marvel timelines between this summer's release of Captain America: The First Avenger and next summer's premiere of The Avengers, it's probably to be expected that fans can look forward to seeing the iconic character in a new suit next year. Well, consider it confirmed with lead star Chris Evans telling MTV Movies that he does indeed receive an entirely new costume for Joss Whedon's superhero team effort, which began production this week in New Mexico. The actor tried on the new outfit as part of the screen test and here's what he had to say.

"Yeah, it's [the new suit] awesome, It's really cool. I was worried because I started to get really attached to the old one. I got to really start digging it. It's not that easy to move in, but I started really liking it."

Black Widow and Hawkeye seems a bit out of their depth.

Probably one of the best things about the movie. They keep it on a more human level.

Also, I may have to put in for a vacation day to see that.

It's a fabulous new day, yes it is!
I can see it next week. Before the trailers happened, I actually looked forward to it a lot. But the advertising isn't doing anything for me at all.

I know I'm not a superhero mark like half of you guys, but let's be real: the only good trailer Avengers had was the one launched at the SuperBowl.

I read that Mark Ruffalo and Robert Downey, Jr. were excellent.

One of my friends saw it for free on Saturday. He gave it 4 out of 5, and he wasn't too high on the film because of the advertising. But he also met Joss Whedon and is going to meet Tom Hiddleston in a few days.

Tickets had sold out tonight by the time I got there! I shall attempt to go again on Saturday! I have a discount for the cinema's "Stark Industries Snack Deal" includes Large Popcorn, Large Drink + Bag Of Sweets, not bad at all! Has it been retitled "Avengers Assemble" in the US as well?

Saw the film an hour ago. Very good film.

  • The film starts a bit slow until Loki gets confronted by one of the Avengers fellas.
  • Mark Ruffalo was great at replacing Edward Norton as Bruce Banner/Hulk.
  • I liked Loki in Avengers more than I did in Thor.
  • Screenplay inlcudes quite the amount of comedy thanks to Jos Whedon's particular storytellling style.
  • If you watch this at the theaters, there's an extra scene after the credits.
  • 3D is worthless here. I only saw it in 3D because the cinema near my place only offered non-dubbed in 3D. :td:

I could say more, but I'll wait for you guys to watch this. Feel free to ask me questions if you need to know something about the movie.

Saw a teaser last night of the Iron Man vs Thor fight. I'm freakin pumped. Not getting paid until Friday though so I'm going to have to miss the midnight showing.

I only saw trailer and avoided that teaser and other ones. I did saw the one that had Tony Stark threatening Loki verbally, though.

You guys are gonna love it more than I did.

I wish there was a next Hulk film with Ruffalo working as Banner. It could even top Iron Man 1, which is the best of the individual pre-Avengers films.

Good movie I thought. The difference and interaction between the characters was good. Ruffalo was awesome I thought.
