From Jason Smotherman: Smackdown Spoilers Nashville TN Sept. 16 2008 Dark Match before ECW was Armando Estrada vs. Johnny Curtis. Boring match the fans didn't care about. Johnny Curtis got the win so I guess keep an eye out. Show opened with a nice montage (aren't they always?) of Jeff Hardy's journey to be num. 1 contender last week, followed by the usual fireworks display. The titantron informed us that the Jeff Hardy would meet THE Brian Kendrick tonight and that the main event would be HHH vs. MVP, not to shabby. 1. Divas championship Michelle McCool vs. Maryse. I really think it would be better business to have Natayla as champ or if they want to have a face, why not Maria? She's a lot more over. But anywho, Michelle is out doing her twirls and posses, followed by a hair flip from Maryse and we're off. Not a bad match actually but certainly not good. A few missed spots here and there but nothing as bad as Candice has been since her return and I'm a fan of Candice. Michelle would get the upper hand and mock Maryse's hair flip to the fans delight and Maryse would counter and show her how to do the hair flip. My friend hates M and her flip, so I was rolling when we got to see it four or five times. Ending came when Michelle used her double arm bar suplex/facebuster finisher to retain in a ok womens match. Not too long or too quick. Big Show and Vickie are in the back laughing about Undertaker and what they did to him. They say that at No Mercy Big Show will destroy Undertaker and Vickie will make him get on his knees and apologize. They laugh and watch a video of undertaker getting beat down at Unforgiven. 2. Festus vs. Ryan Braddock Short match and nothing to note except that there was no winner and that they once again did wrap up Braddock in duct tape and bubble wrap and carry him to the back. Not sure where this shipping wrestlers gimmick is going....no pun intended. Back from the break and Eve is asking if she can do an interview with Vickie and Big Show. Her first question is does the GM think UT is here tonight and second can she start wrestling because she's been working really hard. Big Show and Vickie laugh at both her questions and then they sit her down to show her on the TV why UT will not be here. Cut to the video of Takers beat down again. 3. Shelton Benjamin vs. R. Truth R. Truth came through the crowd and rapped and people loved him, but honestly this was the worst match of the show. Shelton is arguable the best talent in WWE and R. Truth is like a cartoon character. This should've been THE best thing all night. Entire match was, Shelton holding Truth in a backbreaker, Shelton holding him in a chinlock, Shelton holding him in a sleeper which is reveresed into a rollup and Truth wins. That's it. Fans tried to get into it and cheer and chant but it's hard when there is nothing to cheer for. Vicki is backstage asking a nobody for a bigger TV so she can watch the video again. Big Show burts in and says Taker is right outside. It's just Chavo dressed up like him. They watch the video again. 4. Jeff Hardy vs. THE Brian Kendrick Jeff comes out and attempts to talk to the fans. He says that he realizes that HHH was trying to motivate him to being a better wrestler. He calls out Vladimir and says come face him like a man if he wants a fight. He also rambles on about being comfortable in his skin and being OUR charismatic enigma, i don't know. Jeff is so horrible on the mic it's literally like he learned to form sentences last year. Brian interrupts him and says he needs to worry about their match tonight and not the title. Brian is beyond gold on the mic and Jeff looks so much worse trying to carry a conversation with him. Match starts, lots of back and fourth. Match ends with Brian attempting the sliced bread and getting it reversed into a back slide giving Jeff the win. Really quick pace and Jeff is really over with the fans. Post match, Vladimir lays out Jeff with a kick at the entrance ramp. Backstage Maria is talking with the new Diva (sorry can't remember her name) and is talking about how she designs and makes her own ring attire and outfits. Wow a diva with actual talent! New girl asks if she would make her a new wrestling outfit and if she could make another just like it. Victoria and Natayla interrupt and accuse new girl of sleeping with Hornswoggle as she is always going under the ring. Natayla tears up Maria's design notebook and a tag match is announced for next week. As the bad BFF's leave Victoria delivers the line of the night "FACE!" In the ring it's the return of Carlito's Cabana. Fans miss this and you can tell. Hawkins and Ryder come out and Carlito and Primo don't know who they are and start laughing when H and R say they're the champs. Carlito and Primo challenge them to a tag title match next week and Edge Heads accept. A lot of funny stuff here and The Colons could be huge stars for smackdown if used right. Carlito says he needs a clean up crew to take all there stuff away and Jesse and Festus run down and chase Edge Heads away. 5 Great Khali vs. Scotty Goldsman
Squash match, fans were into Khali. It's announced that Khali will challenge Vladimir next week. Back stage Chavo makes Hawkins, Ryder and Neely leave Vickies office because he wants to watch Undertaker get beat up again alone. They leave and Chavo watches the clip for the fourth time. After it's over the tv misses up and shows UT's ring video. Undertaker appears behind Chavo and chokes him out as we go back to the ring. 6 Main Event time HHH vs. MVP Both men are really over and the deliver a great match. MVP spends most of the time in control and little offense from HHH. Ending sees MVP trying a body press from the top rope only to be kicked in the stomach and met with the pedigree. HUGH reaction for pedigree and the win. Vladimir attacks HHH post match and leaves him layed out in the ring.
After the show we get Big Show vs. Undertaker in a NO DQ match. One of the best dark main events I've seen in Nashville in the past four years. They brawl all over the announcer table and into the audience. UT uses a cord to choke out show and nails him with a chair. La Familia rushs in to make the save and all are demolished. Big Show leaves and refuses to wrestle we are not left with a winner. No problem, UT takes out his frustrations out on the family and it's chokeslams for all. The best shows are ones the utilize everyone on the roster and this was one of those shows. I'm sure it'll be like any other Friday night on the tube, but live the fans were really into everything. The arena was about 65-70 percent full with top sections blacked out. Everything below was pretty full though. Hopefully we will get a PPV in Nashville soon since we never seem to get one! Biggest POPs of the night HHH Jeff Matt Biggest HEAT Big Show and Vickie backstage (but oddly fans seemed to like Big Show when he came out to wrestle) Vladimir when he layed out HHH Mark Henry when he was backstage (once again, Nashville cheered for Henry when he beat Finlay. ECW had done wonders for this guy)

Monk and Psych have quit airing new episodes until January, so I'll be able to watch SD! regularly again starting with this episode. I'm not going to read the spoilers, but I'm looking forward to this episode. I haven't seen a full SD! episode in over 2 months.

Didn't you say exactly that, like two weeks ago?

Nope. Two weeks ago (or was it three?), they didn't show new episodes that one week due to the tennis thing. It's the same reason Raw aired on Sci-Fi that week. Stupid tennis. But that was just one week off. I'll now be able to follow SD! weekly, catch up with the storylines, and get into the show again. Maybe I'll even see what all they hype about "The" Brian Kendrick is about.

Monk and Psych have quit airing new episodes until January, but there are still two Fridays left in the Yankees' season. Then after that, I'm sure (I hope) I can find something else. Then if I can't, I'll probably shut the TV off and read a book. If I read all my books already, maybe I'll get out of the house. But if I get out of the house and it's too cold, which it may be since Fall is coming, then I might stay inside and roast chestnuts on an open fire, and watch some of my DVDs I haven't seen in awhile. Then by that point, Monk and Psych should be back on the air.

I just watched Smackdown. My favorite part was Carlito's Cabana. Does anyone know how her got a spot back on the show? I'm so happy though. He is one of my favorite wrestlers in the WWE. Not too fond of his brother, but if thats the reason hes back, I'm all for it. Hopefully this 3rd chance for Carlito goes well and he can work his way to the main event again. He's too good for tag teams.

I enjoyed the Helms bubbles that popped up throughout the show. They were funny most times. It's an interesting way to bring him back. I don't recall this ever being done before. I noticed he called himself Hurricane Helms and not Gregory Helms.
The Cabana didn't seem all that great to me. It seemed like a lackluster outing by all four guys. Of course, the Ryder and Hawkins aren't that interesting, Primo is still new and inexperienced on the mic, so it may have been a bit much to expect Carlito to pull all these guys to a better than was segment. Carlito's "don't steal my line" line was funny. I expect Carlito and Primo to win the tag titles. hopefully, they do.
I'm not really sure about Kozlov since I haven't been watching SD! He attacked the WWE champion and the number 1 contender, so obviously WWE has big plans for him.
Question: Where is Edge? I know Undertaker chokeslammed him to hell during their HIAC match, but has he not been seen since? Did he get injured or something to need time off?

I knew he was hurt, but I didn't really know the extent of his injuries. So I found this.

The Sun has an article on John Cena's neck injury. The article also notes that a few WWE main eventer are hurting pretty bad too. One WWE insider told The Sun that Edge desperately needed to take a few weeks off because he's so banged up. "This is why Edge is taking a few weeks off. He desperately needs to," the source explained. "His performances on the mic and limited actions kept him OK through the Hell in a Cell Match with Undertaker, but Edge is a man in a lot of constant pain, he just doesn't want to give up his top spot right now." Also, Undertaker apparently came back early for his showdown with Edge at SummerSlam. "Undertaker himself came back a little early," the source said. "His knee is still very sore, and he has to be very careful with it because he's not a youngster anymore and he could suffer an injury that could put him on the shelf for a very long time." The wear and tear of WWE’s grueling schedule is taking its toll on a number of other WWE stars as well. "It's a beat up crew right now, it's not just the injury bug. The wears and tears of WWE schedule are catching up with everyone."
