Stand Back! There's a Hurricane Coming Through
I actually heard that Marvel tried to pay them not to make this movie after reading the script because they knew it would be a disaster.

Aha, well we will just have to hope that it tanks at the box office so they're not inclined to make another one. I can't remember exactly but I'm sure that I read that after a certain number of years with no films made then the rights will revert back to Marvel. It's currently got 9% on Rotten Tomatoes and that's from 149 reviews.

That was the point of making this film. To keep the rights.

Is it bad that all of these bad reviews have made me more interested in seeing this film?

I'm also yet to see any of the FF films.

It's a fabulous new day, yes it is!
This film has it worse in Rotten Tomatoes than Dragonball: Evolution.

I'm considering to not watch it even with the ticket discount. But then again, I've seen the Transformers films. :uhoh:

I expected mixed reactions initially prior to the critical raping Fantastic Four got. You'd think it's an Adam Sandler film, but nope.

Bad, but I don't think it's end of the world bad. But compared to what Marvel has been doing, I can see why everyone had that reaction.

It was 99% focused on FF, and 1% focused on some sort of crisis, which made everything feel rushed. And even though it was forced mostly on the FF, they still came off as one dimensional. To be honest, The father, Johnny, and Doom were the only characters that almost had some sort of personality until it was abandoned.

Of course Doom was wrong, which is a clear reason why reboot origin stories should be abandoned.

Just not long finished watching it. I honestly didn't mind it. I have no attachment to the source material, so I can't judge it as an adaptation, but I can understand the frustration of seeing a bad one if it's of something you really like. Just watching it as a superhero flick though, I thought it was fine. There were a some flaws, but not enough to annoy me too much or offset some of the things I did like about it. Plus I was going in with the mindset that this could be complete shit. That could have also worked in the movie's favour for me, I don't know.

I also watched Ant-Man earlier. That was definitely a much better movie. Surprisingly better than what I was expecting.
