(PWInsider)

The future for former World Champion CM Punk has been quite the topic of discussion amongst WWE fans lately.  As reported last night, WWE.com has posted a video of CM Punk declaring his intentions to find a partner (Kofi Kingston seems the logical choice) to pursue the World Tag Team Championship held by Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase.  The storyline is that Punk is looking for revenge against the men responsible for costing him the World Title, and since Randy Orton is unable to wrestle, he is going after the tag champs.  Some see this as WWE inserting a top star in the tag division to give it a "boost" in the eyes of fans.  Others see it as Punk being "demoted" out of the top mix on Raw.

How do you see it?

I will find you.
I can see it from both sides. I think Punk could do wonders in the tag division and that could turn into a feud with Randy Orton eventually. It might be a bit of a drop for him, but i'm ure he'll be back in the main event scene in no time...

BURN IT DOOOWWNNNNNNNN!
On the surface it looks like a demotion, but in the end it'll lead to a feud with Orton, which would be a good thing for Punk.

I see it as WWE way to demote him I don't think they ever really had much faith in him as a world champion and I must say over all his rank as champ was rather dry and will be forgotten fast. I am a mark for Punk he is by far one of my favorites but his title run just was lacking I don't think we ever got a proper paring for him and I would have liked to see a heel turn from Punk i think he does his best work when he is that heel role.
Nevertheless I feel this was a creative way to demote him but at the same time maybe boost a tag division that is growing and starting to gain a little steam I think its more or less a kill 2 birds with 1 stone kind of thing.

I will say i am not for a Kofi him and Punk are both over with the fans as single stars and it seems like a waste to pair them up as a team. I would much prefer them pull Colt from Smackdown and give us a Second City Saints. I have seen Smackdown and the way they are using Cabana is utterly useless he would be much better off teaming up with Punk and we know they have amazing chemistry when they work together pull any ROH tape with the SCS and you can see that and they were a joy to watch.

CM Punk has midcard talent. I see it has him getting more then he deserves and should smile and nod at whatever he is told, wether it be a fued with Orton, the tag titles, or sucking Vince's cock.

STAY HYPED!!!
I think it's WWE realizing they pushed Punk too high too soon and is putting him back where he belongs. I don't care what Punk did on ECW, the fact remains that less than 1/3 of WWE's overall audience watches the show. Most people really don't even know who Punk is. He is not as exposed and developed with the fans as he needed to be before becoming the top champion.

Going back to mid-card status and feuding with developing acts will help Punk. It'll give him a chance to create a storyline history for himself. Give a chance for the fans to truly get to know his character. And his on/off feud with Orton will be good in that it keeps him in the mix with a main eventer without him actually being pushed as a main eventer. WWE can push him up the cards if he's ever ready. But right now, he's not ready.

I'm not sure that I agree with Punk not being ready yet. To me, most of it is pushed by crowd reaction and response. That's not all of it. The guy has to be able to put on decent matches and work the mic. He has to be able to be in a feud and make you care about what is going on. Punk can do all of these things and the crowd chants for him and cheers him. The biggest reason his title run was weak was because he never got any big time victories. JBL was a good start, but until he beat guys like Batista, Cena, Jericho, HBK etc he was not going to be a legit main eventer or world champion. So, that isn't the fault of CM Punk. It's a booking decision.

I think it's probably a boost in the tag team division because it really seems like they're trying more lately with it.

I just read something interesting in reference to Punk. If plans don't change, there is set to be a program between him and Orton, now even though being advertised that Cena and Orton are going to being doing something together, don't dismiss that there might be a 3 way for the title at the last ppv of the year which will include Punk. Guess we'll see.
