Did you know that before video games, every teenager drove perfectly? True story. |

I mean, fuck, it's pretty obvious to me that If a lot of people play games that encourage some form of behaviour then statistics say some will replicate that behaviour. it's not rocket science, its er, cognitive science, but it's still accepted fact. monkey see monkey do. before i watched formula 1 i knew less about aggressive driving. now i know a little more. i'm sometimes tempted to drive like an idiot, but i restrain myself because i dont want to die that way. others aren't able to restrain. formula 1 is a sport, yes, but it applies to video games too. speds. EDIT: What I PARTICULARLY enjoy is the way that this monkey see monkey do behaviour is pretty well observed among psychologist type dudes, but experts like 6SW members clearly know better than people who've actually done experiments on them. whatever!

Except that they seem to ignore that teenagers have been terrible drivers pretty much since teenagers have been driving cars. And that not all teenagers play video games. Now if they showed some of the research showing that driving skills have deteriorated on average for a certain amount of time with certain game releases or what have you, then maybe their claim would have some weight. But... I don't see anything. It looks like just some random superintendent giving his random opinion on what he thinks causes teenagers to suck at driving, completely ignoring that teenagers have always sucked at driving. Maybe we don't have any more credibility than these people in these articles, btw, but at least we don't enthusiastically nod our heads and give the thumbs up to anyone with "Dr.", "Officer", or any other official title before their name because obviously authority figures are never wrong. |

Haha, F1 = aggressive driving. Please, Montoya practically got kicked out of the league because he was aggressive. But I somewhat agree. Actually playing years upon years of NASCAR games helped me with gauging how quick I can go/have to go into turns, but that's about it. When I got onto the road, almost everything else went out the window. Although Vice City has had a bit more impact... it's something about coming inches from running into a Haitian and Taxi cab that refines your driving... and ability to hit large groups of people with your car.
