Today is Christmas Eve. I'm not sure how many members will be online today and tomorrow, but I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas. And, of course, if you celebrate another holiday instead of Christmas, then I hope you have a happy celebration.

Christmas Eve is where it's at for my family. Won't be doing much Christmas Day. That's just the way it is, I suppose.

But Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, and happy Boxing Day!

I have a similar view on Christmas. There's too much greed involved in the holiday for my liking. I don't buy anyone anything for Christmas and I ask everyone not to buy me anything either. But I do like getting together with family and friends, enjoying a nice meal, and just doing nothing but talking.

I don't know why, but that's how it is for my family, too. I'll be leaving to go to my uncle's house in an hour or so.

Merry Christmas, everyone! :santa:

You shouldn't mention Hanukkah. It is the fault of Jews that we lost our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. It is my opinion that the Jews be ostracised on Christmas.

I know I'm a true Scrooge for posting this, but I'd much rather my family left me alone around Christmas (inc. Boxing Day). With the exceptions of my mother, my grandfather and one of my cousins, I usually don't enjoy their company and I have virtually nothing in common with any of them. They seemingly only turn up due to some obligation that they feel or imposed upon by my grandmother who is desperately holding onto the illusion of a happy family.

I'm also very much dreading the thought of my father possibly showing up today or tomorrow since he had expressed interest of trying to get to know us again a couple of months ago after about 15 or more years of not having spoken to him. The time we had together before then weren't exactly filled with pleasant memories either. :-/

Perhaps I should rephrase my previous post and say that I'd prefer Christmas to be just like any other day.

Eh... I don't fancy most of my family either, but some of them are cool.

Hope everyone else is having a great time.

If no one did anything tonight, be safe what you do later. There were so many cops on the road today, you'd think the president was around.

Didn't do much tonight, drank alittle and played some Madden for PS3. I'll be doing more this weekend which will lead into New Years.

Ehh, I can handle most of my relatives, they're more annoying than anything really, but I have absolutely no interest in ever knowing my father again. Ever.

The majority of my relatives and I don't speak. Ever. I talk to my mom, brother, and rarely my grandmother. The end. So Christmas isn't really anything too scary for me since I go years upon years without seeing most of my relatives. Yay?

Happy Christmas to anyone who cares.. Christmas just isn't the same once you grow up. I tried to implement a similar thing to Cy in that I didn't want any presents, in exchange for me not buying any for anyone. But most of my family were upset about it.. bastards. So I went along with it for the sake of no arguments.

Yeah when you were a kid everything was awesome, and exciting. Hopefully seeing your own kid enjoy xmas will bring back some of the fun to xmas, though I'm hoping that'll be a long time away

Pretty much the same for me. I hate my family. But my Grandma forces us all together on X-Mas. I hate it. All the akward moments. Mostly cause I give them dirty looks and then tell them not to look at me. And I insult grandmas food at the dinner table. I kid. The food is the only reason I go. It's gonna be hell. 6 hours of hell for me coming up today. I think I'm just gonna pretend I'm sick so I can lay down most of the time.

My Christmas celebration was split into two this year. We had a get together on Tuesday with my nieces, nephews, brothers, sister, their significant others, and a few family friends. All in all, there were 20 people at that gathering. We cooked a turkey (which was absolutely demolished) and gave out presents.

Today, which I am looking forward to much more, I'll be going to my parents house. It'll just be my mom, my dad, my uncle, one brother, maybe his girlfriend but I'm not sure, myself and my girl. We'll be eating turkey, ham, cornbread dresssing, cranberry sauce, giblet gravy, potato salad, and have a banana pudding for dessert. It's a small gathering with just the foods we all really wanted. There'll be no presents exchanged or any of that hassle. Just us being together, eating, and talking. It's going to be great.

I'm not sure if you saw my post in UB, but I'll post it here again anyway.

Quote:

Boxing Day is a public holiday in the United Kingdom, Australia , Canada, New Zealand and countries in the Commonwealth of Nations with a mainly Christian population. It is based on the tradition of giving gifts to the less fortunate members of society. Contemporary Boxing Day in many countries is now a "shopping holiday" associated with after-Christmas sales.

So basically it's another holiday that start out with good intentions, but has deteriorated into another showing of greed. Right.
