It's kinda making me hungry for some burger fast food though. Specifically Jack In The Box's natural cut fries. Would it be weird if I went up there to buy three boxes of fries and a burger? I always get two fries anyway because I eat one on the way home.

I usually throw the fries away from any fast food joint I go to. A lot of the times, I just buy the burger alone. I only get the fries if I get the meal, and only get the meal for the drink. If I order a shake or something, I just order the burger and that's it. I like the fries only some time. They have to be hot, freshly cooked (meaning, not having been sitting there for a while or, worse, re-fried), and I like a bit of salt, enough to make my hands salty, but not too much. Too many times, the fries I get are limp, soggy, and cold. Yuck. Trash. |

The JitB here always has fresh, hot, perfectly crispy fries. Probably the only fast food joint around here that can make that claim. They have a slow drive-thru because of this, but it's cool because their stuff is always fresh. And I often don't get the drink. If I do get a drink, it's almost always a smoothie instead. Rarely a milkshake. Even more rare is a pop because I don't drink that stuff anymore (and actually can't stand any of it but orange and some barely soda pop flavors like fruit punch or lemonade). But I often times just get the burger(s) (depending on how hungry I am and all that) and fries and just drink juice with it when I get home. I've come to strongly associate the taste of JitB with Pomegranate-Cranberry juice.

I am wanting to cut out soda as well, but I cannot find a good replacement. I tried switching from Pepsi to Sierra Mist, then to lemonade. Even managed to drink only the store brand lemonade for a while. But I find it hard to drink those types of drinks all the time, especially when I'm eating. When I work, I try to take a bottle of Apple Juice (Simply Apple, which is hands down the best apple juice available) or I grab a few of those Sobe drinks (Pina Colada or Strawberry Daiquiri, usually). Those are good. Yet, even with all my attempts, I still find myself drinking Dr. Pepper at home and buying a Dr. Pepper from the machine at work when I've drank all my apple juice or sobe drinks. What do you drink instead of cola? |

I mostly drink juice, milk and water. And PowerAde or Gatorade now that the weather is warming up since it's similar to water, but flavorful. Not to mention you can get a lot in a bottle for less than a buck. More specifically usually cranberry, pomegranate, or some variant for juices; chocolate milk (I actually prefer Great Value [generic] over Viva [name brand]); and...well, water (Sam's Choice preferrably. It just tastes better than the name brands or local tap water :-/) I stopped drinking pop for health reasons, but the truth is, I was starting to really dislike it by the time I decided to stop. I no longer enjoyed any of it. My last two twelve packs were one of Dr. Pepper and one of Coca-Cola and it took me forever to get through them. Once I did (my last being a Coke on November 31st 2007), I no longer had any desire for them. I actually had some Dr. Pepper splash on my lips at work and it disgusted me. ![]() I didn't drink any pop again until last October when all I had to drink during a huge day exploring the land outside town was various flavors of Faygo (whoop! whoop!). I still didn't like any of them, but I did like orange - which is fitting since it was my first ever favorite drink (LOVED orange pop as a kid). I mainly stopped drinking pop, though, to cut the unnatural caffeine out of my diet and it's been good. I've only had a few sips of a single can of pop with caffeine in it since, and that was just because I was in a situation where it would've been rude not to.

I don't like just water, so that wouldn't work for me. I do love natural juices like cranberry juice, apple juice, orange juice, etc. I've never tried pomegranate juice, though. I have no problem drinking these during the day or while working. But, again, when I sit down to a meal...I cannot drink apple juice or orange juice or something with a burger, steak, chicken, or whatever. It just doesn't match well. Also, I thought you mean you were drinking sports drinks like Gatorade or Powerade. I can drink both, but don't really care for either much. |

I've been drinking those more lately, yeah. If you can drink Kool-Aid with meals, you should be able to drink sports drinks with them, too. And juices taste awesome with most foods, to me. Then again, I'd be the type that could probably get into wine if I cared to try it and wine is very popular with a lot of foods. It's really the same thing in many ways.

Wine is really good. It'd be easy for you to get into since you like juices. Wines are usually made from grapes after all. Not all are from grapes, but lots are. And I don't really like kool-aid. It makes my throat hurt. I can eat kool-aid pickles, but I cannot sit down and drink a glass of kool-aid. To me, juices are much more expensive than sodas. A 2 liter soda cost about a dollar and is several big glasses. One bottle of Simply Apple costs about three bucks and doesn't last long at all. A little Sobe is about 2 dollars and is only one drink. That's another thing that makes me buy a soda even though I try to cut them out. |
