I believe that Jesus Christ walked the earth and inspired billions of people, yes. I do not believe that Jesus Christ is the son of god or the savior of man. |

Dammit!
The first 365 days until 1 full year was registered? I imagined it weren't called year 0 or whatever, more like day so and so until 1 year had passed or as all part of the first year, I guess. I obviously weren't around at the time society started measuring time as we know it today. However going by the assumption that days, months, years, etc. are all measurements of time, it would surely be logical that 0 was the starting point at the very beginning just before the clock started ticking. Much like a ruler where you count the millimeters until the first centimeter and so on. If you know what I mean. As for the decade argument, I imagine a decade ceases to be and the new one begins at the very point 10 years had passed. It still takes another 365 days until we reach year 11. |

I see time being measured like a person's lifespan. When someone is first born, you don't call that first year their 0th year. You don't say they are 0 years old. You say they are X days old or X months old. There is a measurement of time there. And then when 365 days have passed, you add it all up and call it their first year. Same thing with time. When the first year began, it was measured in X amount of hours, X amount of days, and X amount of months, then when you look back at it, you call it the first year. There was a point in time when it was 0, but that as a point, not an entire year. |

It is technically true to say that, but it's not their zeroth year. It's their first year, which means their is still no zeroth year. |

LOL, I know what you mean and I think I can see the confusion, but I'll be damned if I can try to explain it. I think this could be something interesting to bring over to general chat. Edited by Terrible Fry, Jan 2 2010, 03:01 AM.

I think it also begs the question; is this the 2010th year or has exactly 2010 years passed? Edit: Oh, I see we're off that subject now. *insert Val Venis* Edited by Terrible Fry, Jan 2 2010, 03:09 AM.

I would say it is most likely that our timeline is completely wrong, but it is what we have accepted so there's no changing it. Unless you are Chinese. Don't they have their own calendar and isn't it like year 4000 or something for them? |
