Transformers 2 sucked. Transformers 2 really sucked. The only thing that was more incomprehensible than its battle scenes was its plot. The good news? In one week, those racist twins have been given the Auto-boot, Shia LaBeouf admitted that Tranformers 2 sucked and now the biggest news of all…Firefly star Alan Tudyk has been cast in the upcoming Transformers 3 (according to The Wrap).

We’ve seen Tudyk in 3:10 to Yuma, Death at a Funeral and Knocked Up since Firefly/Serenity ended, but we certainly haven’t seen enough of “Wash” on the silver screen. A little small-screen action and a few Direct TV commercials aren’t gonna cut it — this guy should’ve been a star long, long ago. Nathan Fillion might not yet be Ant-Man, but it’s nice to see that the talented cast of Firefly (including Christina Hendricks) is still alive and kicking.

Someone over at Dreamworks/Hasbro gets it. Maybe Michael Bay is too busy blow-drying his trademark feathered hair and piping aspiring actresses to notice? Just go over to IMDb and look at the other new additions to the cast — Frances McDormand, John Malkovich and Patrick Dempsey. Holy shit, man. They’ve come along way from Fergie’s boyfriend and Tyrese.

Once upon a time, the Transformers brand had ironclad geek cred when it came to Gen X. Thanks to the Bayster, what once was certain has been lost. But with the additions of these fine actors and especially one Alan Tudyk, all of us who grew up playing with Optimus Prime might actually see the franchise return to its prime sometime soon.

Wonder if Transformers 3 could suck more ass than Transformers 2. But good to hear the twin-bots got the boot.

Sure maybe Dragonball and New Moon could be considered as worse than ROTF, but ROTF is by far more of a disappointing film.

The third time is not going to be the charm for Megan Fox.

Paramount Pictures confirmed Wednesday that production on Transformers 3 is moving forward without the franchise's resident hottie, E! News has confirmed.

So why did Michael Bay say she'd totally be back for the threequel? What a Decepticon!

Sure, Fox said all sorts of ridiculous things and chomped into the hand that fed her with the lethal teeth she sported in Jennifer's Body, but Bay acknowledged that her "crazy quips are part of her crazy charm" and said he still loved working with her.

But in the end, Paramount left her contract by the wayside, and according to Fox's rep, it was her idea.

"It was her decision not to return. She wishes the franchise the best," the rep tells People.

The 24-year-old actress whom men's magazines love to obsess over played Shia LaBeouf's inexplicable love interest (he's cute, but he's no Megan Fox!) in the first two films.

There's been no word yet on who's up for the requisite role of Woman Who Looks Great Running, but the cast is filling out pretty nicely just the same, counting LaBeouf, Tyrese Gibson, Patrick Dempsey, Frances McDormand and John Malkovich among those onboard.

She's going to bitch her way out of show business all together if she isn't careful. It's not like she's not replaceable...ask Terrence Howard. Besides, Shia LaBeouf is gay. Oh, wait, that really had nothing to do with anything did it? Oh well...

GeekWeek.com claims to have the answer. Their "inside source" says that Victoria's Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is a lock to take the role of "hot chick in short shorts" from Ms. Fox.

Those clanking metal heroes return with a clanking, clunker of a title.

The third installment of Michael Bay's Transformers series has just been announced, and it is...Transformers: Dark of the Moon!

As much as we're sure this will make a whole lot of sense when we rent see the movie, our first reaction is that (1) it sounds like a Pink Floyd album; (2) it's even worse than just calling it "the one without Megan Fox"; and (3) the relative lameness of its title won't make a difference whether people go see it or not. They will.

One the plus side, the dark of the moon, astrologically speaking, "seems to lure us toward the deepest self, the longings of the soul, and restful listening is a great way to receive these messages," according to one expert.

Which, for an action film, sounds kind of awesome.

I'm reading that the title for the film isn't new, but it's still a shitty title for a film.

The tricky thing about licensing product tie-ins for movies is that elements of the movie get leaked when the licensees start promoting their spin-off products.

Such is the cast with the kids book Transformers 3: Push Pops which ties into to Transformers: The Dark of the Moon and was recently listed for pre-order on Amazon.com. The description for the book reveals the general plot of the movie:

"The Autobots Bumblebee, Ratchet, Ironhide and Sideswipe led by Optimus Prime, are back in action, taking on the evil Decepticons, who are determined to avenge their defeat in 2009's Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. In this new movie, the Autobots and Decepticons become involved in a perilous space race between the U.S. and Russia, and once again human Sam Witwicky has to come to the aid of his robot friends. There's new characters too, including a new villain in the form of Shockwave, a longtime Transformers character who rules Cybertron while the Autobots and Decepticons battle it out on Earth."

So I take it no one has heard about the crash since this being filmed right up the street from me in DC?

Here it is.

I was on the way home from somewhere when I heard they were filming. I wasn't even aware they were in DC. The same day I heard about the crash from a family member who works in the area.

Before that, there was this.

Quote:

A lawyer for a film extra seriously injured on a movie set intends to press on with a lawsuit even though a safety agency isn’t issuing citations.

Gabriela Cedillo was driving her own car when she was struck on the head by a piece of flying metal during a stunt sequence for Transformers 3.

Cedillo suffered permanent brain damage, is paralyzed on her left side and can’t see out of her left eye because it’s stitched shut.

Indiana OSHA (IOSHA) determined the crash occurred due to the failure of a weld connecting a car to a tow cable. IOSHA says the weld was made by a certified welder and all necessary safety precautions were in place, so it won’t issue citations or fines.

Todd Smith, Cedillo’s attorney, issued a statement that “the family is deeply saddened and disappointed by this ridiculous conclusion by [IOSHA].”

Smith says a licensed engineer and a metallurgist inspected the weld and connections between the cable and the stunt car and concluded the connections were performed in a faulty, negligent and careless fashion.

A lawsuit has been filed on Cedillo’s behalf against Paramount Pictures and metal distributor Ryerson, Inc., claiming negligence in the crash.

As part of the stunt, Cedillo was driving her car in Hammond, IN, as flatbed trucks pulling cars and going more than 50 mph approached on the opposite side of the road.

When Cedillo’s car neared, a metal bracket welded to one of the stunt cars broke loose, flew across the median, sliced the hood of her car, shattered the windshield and hit her in the head.

While an OSHA fine wouldn’t guarantee success of a lawsuit, lack of one doesn’t bar a sympathetic jury from awarding a substantial amount to a worker injured in a crash.

The "Transformers 3" extra who suffered brain damage in a grisly on-set accident just slapped Paramount and DreamWorks studios with a lawsuit for negligence.

The lawsuit -- filed in Cook County Court of Illinois -- alleges the studios and location managers for the film were negligent in coordinating and executing a stunt last month in Indiana.

Gabriela Cedillo was an extra on the set when, as we previously reported, a tow cable being used for a stunt snapped, causing a piece of metal to slice through her skull.

The lawsuit claims a long list of failures on the part of the production team ... among them -- failure to use proper materials and proper welding, failure to provide adequate safety precautions, and failure to keep personnel on set at a safe distance.

The suit also claims the production, "Allowed untrained extras to drive their own vehicles within close proximity to a violent stunt involving large vehicles." Cedillo was driving her own car when the tow cable snapped.

Cedillo's attorney tells us she is completely paralyzed on the left side of her body, and she is currently at a rehabilitation center.

Cedillo is suing for unspecified damages in excess of $50,000. Paramount and DreamWorks did not immediately return our calls for comment.

UPDATE: A rep for Paramount says, "We are all terribly sorry that this accident occurred. The production will continue to provide all the help we can to Gabriela and her family during this difficult time."

Quote:

A rep for the Indiana Occupation Safety and Health Administration tells TMZ ... an investigation into the September 1 accident -- in which a tow cable snapped and sliced through Gabriella Cedillo's skull -- concluded that producers operated by the book in coordinating the fateful stunt.

Instead, IOSHA tells TMZ the accident occurred "due to the failure of a weld connecting a car to a cable. The weld was made by a certified welder and all necessary safety precautions were in place."

The IOSHA rep added, "No citations or fines will be issued. This was an unfortunate and unforeseeable accident."

As we previously reported, Cedillo -- who is now paralyzed on the left side of her body -- filed a negligence lawsuit against Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks earlier this month.

Just read that pop-up book plot reveal and, ugh, Autobots versus Decepticons AGAIN?! Get some new material guys, jeez...

 :P

But seriously, I'd like to have seen this movie be about the Autobots and Decepticons dealing with Unicron. It could be the final one even since the series has definitely lost a lot of the steam it initially had, although I bet the studios are going to try to milk it until deciding to reboot it two years after whatever the last movie of this series comes out.

I gotta say I have the original movie along with the orignal G1 episodes which I've been watching in preparation for the new one lol and I'll take that version over anything Bay has done thus far.

Unicron was the shiznit! Come on a transformer who can eat planets. Not to mention when Megatron turns into Galvatron.

Posted Image

Nothing has come close since and they've had many different versions come out from cartoons to movies.

Hell I still remember seeing it in the movies.

My god that accident sounds terrible and they're not even compensating her  Anyway here's a teaser trailer for the film...

I highly doubt this film will be as bad as the last one. For one, there's no Miss Fox around and two, the amount of criticism the last film got they must have surely made an effort to make this better. Judging from the trailer, I'm sort of liking the concept of this one :tu:

Trailer isn't bad, but I guess we should wait for a second trailer featuring the likes of Sam and his parents to determine if DOTM could be better than ROTF. Megan Fox sucked in ROTF, but she wasn't as annoying as the twinbots and Sam's mom.

I recently saw Transformers 2 and I really enjoyed it. I don't see what all the fuss was about when it came to the twins and even the human characters were more likeable this time around. The Autobots were a bit dull this time, but I don't think the movie was some horrible abomination that the interwebs made it seem to be.

So I went from not caring about Transformers 3 to actually being interested now. Since it's supposed to be the last in the series, maybe I'll actually go see it in the theater. It'll be my first one in a theater and hell, maybe I'll watch it in 3D then since I haven't seen a modern 3D flick yet either (although I might just wait for Spider-Man).

I liked it, but it was inferior to the first one. The only thing ROTF really did better than the first one was the more accurate potrayal of the Megatron/Starscream relationship and just Starscream's character in general really.

Michael Bay is the type to certainly say what's on his mind and he's pretty clear here in that he says he doesn't want Transformers 3 to suck. “We did not want the third one to suck. We worked extra hard,” he said to MTV News.

The first trailer for Transformers: Dark of the Moon during the Super Bowl caught the eye of many who had written it off as they became intrigued at the large scale aspect of it and the idea of a whole lot of Transformers action on a global scale. In the clip below, you'll see Bay talking about the problems had on the previous features, particularly with the second one because of the writers strike that impacted a lot of features and he's made a promise to make sure this third one is what the fans deserve and what he wants to see on the big screen.

“We just have, I think, a better story,” he said. “It’s epic and it happens in a city, so it’s more accessible because you recognize stuff; it’s not in a desert. It’s kind of like ‘Black Hawk Down’ with our small group of heroes in a city.”

Michael Bay must have finally got over his fear of asking Leonard Nimoy to voice a role in his Transformers franchise. Three years after admitting to the public that he was too afraid to ask the veteran star to play a character in his second installment, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Entertainment Weekly reports he finally summoned up the nerve and a deal has been made.

Mr. Spock himself, Leonard Nimoy, has joined the film as the voice of Sentinel Prime, the predecessor of Optimus Prime whose wrecked body is seen in the teaser trailer, found crash-landed on the moon by the Apollo 11 astronauts in 1969. Later, after being brought to earth, he takes the disguise form of a fire engine in the movie’s massive, climactic battle through Chicago.

Nimoy, no novice to Transformers mythology after voicing Galvatron in the 1986 movie, will join his fellow stars Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Kevin Dunn, Julie White, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich, John Turturro, Patrick Dempsey, Alan Tudyk, Ken Jeong and Kevin Dunn. Bay was once again behind the camera based on a screenplay by Ehren Kruger.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon will invade 3D/2D/IMAX theaters July 1, 2011.

That trailer has actually got me quite excited for this, sort of itching to know what the humans found on the moon and why they didn't tell the autobots about it. In a way the trailer reminded me of both Skyline & Battle Los Angles but judging from the reviews both of them got this should easily be better.
