Index of file:///C:/Program Files/Mozilla Firefox/ That keeps popping up in a new window like every few seconds. Literally, anytime I click a link on any page, a new page will pop with that. Has anyone had this problem? Know how to solve it? I'm thinking it's probably some kind of virus/spyware/adware/malware/whatever, but my anti-virus program isn't catching it. ![]() I might have to take a screenshot to show what is actually happening, since I don't think the first line actually says much unless you have experience with what I'm talking about.

If it's recently updated then it might not have installed correctly, I'd try just re-installing firefox. You can keep your bookmarks and everything so you don't lose anything. Other than that option I can't really help

How do you reinstal firefox without losing your bookmarks? I'm using IE8 now to see if I get the same. I'm getting a new window that pops up, but it's for somthing different. I'm thinking it's gotta be some sort of malware on my computer ![]() Also, the forums look really fucked up in IE. |

Sounds very similar to a virus thing we had a few years ago, whereby things kept popping up. I just reformatted the hard drive and wiped everything because I'd been meaning to do that for quite some time, after the boot time had become unbearably high |

When you go through the uninstall process it should ask you whether you want to save or delete your bookmarks, it might be called personal information... Spoiler: click to toggle Edited by SpaceOdyssey, Jul 13 2010, 01:14 PM.

When you say you reformatted the hard drive, do you mean you just went back to factory set up? |

I inserted the windows disk and finnigan begin again. where you delete fucking everything (but not really) and start over. took a while to get all the windows upgrade but the improvement in computer speed, and the total deletion of all old spyware, malware and viruses and so on was awesome. bit of a last resort thing usually though. what you could do, is just access a previous restore point. windows creates them on its own. that way you wouldn't have to reinstall firefox, i suppose. |

BURN IT DOOOWWNNNNNNNN!

You can save your bookmarks, so that's not a problem. Just uninstall and reinstall Firefox. If that doesn't work then I'd suggest scanning for viruses and malware. Malwarebytes will help scanning for malware. |

Yeah pretty much what DL said. I had the same problem a couple months back and I had to get some protection. You might have to buy it though. McAfee has a trial basis you can use for a bit. It's up to you or hell if you have the money and don't know much about puters like myself, you might want to have GeekSquad look at it. That is if you have the money. |

My buddy had this same problem. He put this giant 10 pound magnet on his hard drive and it's never happened again. Just a suggestion. |
