Ryan Morgan sent word that Brother Runt (a.k.a. Spike Dudley) is set to retire on 10/8 at the Top Rope Promotions show in Fall River, MA.

He had a pretty good run for a man his size.

That's kind of disappointing. I think he could have added to Team 3D a little bit for one last run. I though the last time he came in for awhile, when he first became Brother Runt, he was going to stick around for a bit but obviously that didn't happen.

I'll probably always remember him most as one of the few people that began to rival Stone Cold's popularity back in 2001 (during his relationship with Molly). Spike Dudley could have been a lot bigger in WWE if they had fully struck when he was hot, but much like with RVD, they didn't for whatever reason.

I'm sure his body is happy, though. That man took punishment that would have put a guy like Orton or Batista into retirement.

The Man. Any Questions?
I'm sorry, but I thought Spike was retired, except for the odd ECW reunion.

Yeah another run with Team 3D would have been cool. I've got a question though on wiki it says that he is using his Spike Dudley name in the indies but I thought if the name was trademarked then he couldn't use it anywhere except WWE. Could someone explain this...

Edit: Here's the bit that I read it from...

Since parting ways with TNA, Hyson has been working for different independent promotions such as Top Rope Promotions (where he is a trainer), Squared Circle Wrestling (2CW), and Big Time Wrestling (BTW).[1] Since returning to the indies, he has reverted back to his ECW and WWE name Spike Dudley.

(during his relationship with Molly).
That's what I remember Spike best for, his storyline with Molly Holly. I always liked that storyline better than when he was playing tag along with Team 3D.

For his retirement, I think Spike was great for what he was when he was, but on the rare times I see him today, I have no interest in him. So I would congratulate him on having a great career, especially for a man of his size, but at the same time I won't ever be sitting around hoping to see another match from him.

To me the best thing he ever did was his feud or series of matches or whatever you want to call it with Bam Bam Bigelow. That was some cool shit!

A lot of guys do that. When they wrestle indy shows that won't be aired or seen by more than a few, basically so obscure WWE isn't going to notice or care, they'll just use the name they're known by if they haven't moved on to a new name yet (for Spike, 'Brother Runt' was barely used so...).

The only "Spike Moment" that stands out for me is his head getting slapped across a table by La Resistance when their double chokeslam got botched.
