The L.A. Times 24 Frames Blog reports that Robert Rodriguez is no longer in the running to direct Fox's much-anticipated Deadpool movie.

Instead, their sources tell them that a relatively unknown commercial and video director named Adam Berg has the studio's eye.

You may not have heard of Berg, but he's garnered some buzz for a short film he directed called Carousel, which features a bullet-time style tour of a chaotic and violent bank heist gone wrong. The camera moves through the frozen moment in time as police shoot it out with clown-masked robbers. It's a cool visual to be sure and one that has raised Berg's profile considerably, winning him the Cannes Lions International Advertising award.

The producers of Deadpool like the director and apparently star Ryan Reynolds does as well, which bodes well for Berg.

Fox is going to have to hire a director soon if they want to give him enough prep time to hit Reynolds' window of availability which should happen in late winter/early spring of 2011.

As long as Ryan Reynolds is still involved, then I'm still interested. If he ever leaves it, whether by reasons out of his control or his own choice, then so will my interest.

Not bad at all. I don't know anything about Deadpool but I'll certainly check out the movie. I remember reading about people not wanting Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool but he looks like he'll fit the role nicely.

Fun movie. I honestly expected it to kind of suck, but I found myself very entertained. Ryan Reynolds did a good job. Also, Stan Lee's role in Deadpool might be his best Marvel movie cameo yet.

Just came back from seeing this one today. Really liked it. Catching all the jokes would probably mean you had to see it 2 or 3 times. If you like the Deadpool comics, you should love the movie.

It's a fabulous new day, yes it is!
Enjoyed it. Also, the trailers for Deadpool were far better than the film itself.

You could tell that the movie was built around the highway scene.
