What are some of your favorite lyrics in songs? I'm not really saying "favorite songs," necessarily, but lyrics in songs that make you laugh, think, or whatever.

I really thought of this after listening to Nirvana's "On a Plain." I always think it's funny that Kurt Cobain is considered a genius because most of the time he just wrote whatever crap he felt like down and made it into a song, but he really did this better than anybody else in history in my opinion.

Here are the lyrics:

Quote:

I'll start this off without any words
I got so high that I scratched 'til I bled
I love myself better than you
I know it's wrong so what should I do?

The finest day that I've ever had
Was when I learned to cry on command
I love myself better than you
I know it's wrong so what should I do?

I'm on a plain
I can't complain
I'm on a plain

My mother died every night
It's safe to say, don't quote me on that

I love myself better than you
I know it's wrong so what should I do?

The black sheep got blackmailed again
Forgot to put on the zip code
I love myself better than you
I know it's wrong so what should I do?

I'm on a plain
I can't complain
I'm on a plain

Somewhere I have heard this before
In a dream my memory has stored
As a defense I'm neutered and spayed
What the hell am I trying to say?

It is now time to make it unclear
To write off lines that don't make sense

I love myself better than you
I know it's wrong so what should I do?

And one more special message to go
And then I'm done, then I can go home
I love myself better than you
I know it's wrong so what should I do?

I'm on a plain
I can't complain
I'm on a plain
I can't complain

I'm on a plain
I can't complain
I'm on a plain
I can't complain

Bolded are my favorite parts. I legit lol'd the first time I heard "my mother died every night; it's safe to say don't quote me on that." It's totally saying "yeah, that's a cliche everybody uses, but CLEARLY she didn't literally die every night."

Stand Back! There's a Hurricane Coming Through
This is from the song Ain't With Being Broke by the Geto Boys:

Quote:

I was born in a cheap-ass hospital
Brought to 5th Ward, stuffed right in the middle
Of a rock and a hard spot
Before my dad got that ass I was already counted out
What a motherfuckin pity
Momma couldn't afford milk so we had to suck her titty...
